Pop’s sacrifice was super depressing, but otherwise I found the ending to be extremely satisfying. One of the better endings in Western Animation, imo. It was nice seeing everyone grow up in their own way, even if it had to be away from each other. Cause that’s part of being an adult. Sometimes you have to part from the people you love most in order to move forward. But Regular Show demonstrated that moving forward doesn’t mean leaving behind. Everyone is still a close knit group and Mordecai and Rigby have found that balance between mature family men and the goofballs they were in their 20s. It’s almost the ideal way most adults hope they can turn out. Also, I was honestly pretty happy that Mordecai found a new love in the bat girl. After all that drama with Margaret and CJ, a no-nonsense and clean adult romance is what that guy needed.
@trinaq2 жыл бұрын
Agreed, I like that Mordecai didn't end up with one of his long term love interests, but found someone else. Plus, it's a realistic look at growing up, and moving away from your old friends.

Very well put! I was pretty satisfied with the ending, a lot of people were straight up unhappy about it because of what happened with Pops, but if Pops didn't sacrifice himself for the universe, I don't think the finale would've had such a huge impact, and since it was the series finale it's not like there were more episodes without Pops being around. Pops and Mr. Maellard got their statues in their honor and that made it feel like they didn't just rip Pops away from the show at the moment of his death. Always going to forever remember, The Naive Man From Lolliland, Pops

For me and cartoon network it has given many shows an undeserved shaft but then theres shows like teen titans which they sadly shafted after such a great arc in the league of evil and brain to terra returning then nothing... Then theres regular show there is no words better than pop's own words "Jolly good show."
@theannilators74792 жыл бұрын
I always thought the ending was supposed to be a meta joke. Pops, being the first character created, represented the show, which due to natural quality decay had run its course. At that point the choice is to either reboot the show, redoing everything, or to let the show end and have everyone carry on with their lives. It’s a message that it all had to end and that’s just part of life
@TheCommenterDragon2 жыл бұрын
I will admit that while i enjoyed the ending to Regular Show it did have things i didn't like about it, like they just had to kill off Pops the most likable character in the show although i have no doubt that if he lived he would've been proud to have witnessed everything that the other characters had accomplished in life.
@redfireddragon8584 Жыл бұрын
Well, to be fair, according to the show evil pops was a kind of counterweight to balance out the pure good that is pops, which means that both would have to be destroyed at the same time, otherwise another evil pops might appear and the cycle would continue, so in my eyes it does make sense.

Good show. Jolly good show…I remember watching this final episode, having binged all of Season 8 beforehand. I remember laughing my ass off throughout the battle, smiling as THE POWER title card appears halfway through, being confused at first but smiling again as they dig up that box set. Then, actually tearing up when I see a CRT TV surrounded by clouds, a VHS pop out and hearing that all too familiar catchphrase. It may have been weird, but it was heartfelt. J.C really did care for this show. And I did too.

I still remember Crying at Pop’s Death. It wasn’t just sad because of his death. It was that his Death felt completely Necessary. The universes Greatest Evil could only be undone by that Sacrifice. Those last few words from Pops to Mordecai and Rigby still resonate with me “Don’t worry Mordecai and Rigby I know your sad but I promise this is a Happy ending. Take care of each other. Goodbye” The more I think about it, the more this line takes my breath away.

5 years later and its still hits hard. The ending is perfect for how the show and characters developed over 8 seasons. The best thing imo in how meta it got in the final 2 episodes with the seer explaining their development and echoing the thoughts of fans on it. And the script panels in the final episode as well as the show ending and starting with the power.

Regular Show was and always will be my favorite cartoon series. That show literally saved me from going way down the rabbit hole of dark thoughts because of my depression. When a wave would hit me especially during nights of insomnia and anxiety, I would binge numerous episodes. The next thing I know it's morning and I survived another day thanks to Mordecai, Rigby, Skips, Pops, Muscle Man, Fives and Benson, and their (mis)adventures. To this day, I still go back and watch them when I need a pick-me-up. The finale, especially, made me bawl, but I am so happy it ended the way it beautiful did.

one thing i love about the final season of regular show is that despite the whole plot aspect and the being in space stuff a lot of the episodes still wind up being sorta day to day life turning to madness i also love all the foreshadowing in the season before, being able to see dome schematics in the background as a gag or seeing pops powers also, j g quintel is really good at meta - the stuff with the naive man from lolliland and the post its notes, to the entire candice nightmare sequence in close enough? extremely good stuff comics are a lot less accessible i think but i read regular show: 25 years later a while back and its also really good. i loved seeing little bits of how the characters grew and it definitely felt like regular show, normal to wacky and all. shame it seems to not be talked about much

I missed out on the last season when it was running. The few bits and pieces i saw where the park was locked in a dome amd shot into space felt really off the rails, even for this show's standards. I feel the final season is very representative of the conclusion of most all episodes. Episodes all have a similar structure, a mundane introduction, then the middle introduces some new thing, the ending just takes the concept to the extreme and goes balls to the walls with the logic The first seasons introduces the characters, the middle seasons has recurring characters and story arcs, before the final season goes ape shit. They do have to make the ending properly, by paying tribute to everything that came before.

This one was truly amazing. Every episode has so many references to other stuff and the concepts are so great. And something that elevates it even more for me is that it had really good games on the website. And I'm so thankful for the Flashpoint preservation project because I've been able to revisit soo many flash games from my childhood thanks to it, I don't even care if it sounds like promotion, if this even helps someone out there who's reading this realize that they can play those Regular Show games again (and almost any other flash game) and they do it and revisit something special, it's worth it. Replaying those games just hits so well, and it's even more special when we could easily be unable to do that but we were lucky that someone started that project. It's like, those games could be lost, but they're not, and when you're playing them it feels more special. And that goes for the Regular Show ones and all the other ones I played back then, all those Cartoon Network games. CN really was amazing, like truly amazing to be a kid growing up with CN existing and with how much they put onto their website.

Maybe this is to obvious, but isn’t it ironic that just like parents in real life. A lot of the times the sacrifices you make to protect your kids and give them the best life end up being the death of you, but it doesn’t matter because even though you’re scared and uncertain about how to win the fight against bad you know it’s all worth it in the long run.
