I would love that too! I just discovered my seasonal type and I decided to only buy the colors that suit me most from now on. Had to throw out quite some stuff I liked, but now I know why I look so pale and tired on some days…-_- The color palettes are so interesting!!!!!!!

Hi Jen! You’ve hit ALL the reasons why I don’t buy what you’ve mentioned. As a mom of two young ones, I’ve learned that comfort is worth the money spent and not the conforming to societal images. Yes, to more “deep” discussions of being real. Social media has taken on a darker turn of unhealthy narcissism and conformist peer pressure. Lots of love from LA.
@Born19862 жыл бұрын
I’m with you on a lot of these points, especially using up the natural fibers, shampoo products, and no thongs stands. I became a mom in the past few years, and it also helped me to start my ethical fashion journey. I try to aim for buying higher quality pieces of clothing that also support people to earn a living wage. Becoming a mom also had me searching for comfortable clothing and underwear, much to my partner’s lament - they knew that I dress for me, first and foremost. And thongs don’t usually equate to comfort. Though if anyone knows of any good suggestions of ethical/sustainable thong underwear, I’m willing to consider it!

I love that so many of these changes are also eco friendly, that's one of the biggest reasons I watch what I buy/buy natural materials. If more people were like this it would really make a dent in the negative impact of fast fashion and other trends. And yes, would LOVE to see a video of color palettes and other personalizations tips, I feel like so many things I fall in love with online or in store end up looking terrible once I out it on. I would love to know how to enhance my own personal style.

This video has so many gems I relate to. I used to stress when shopping and having a personal color palette makes it so much easier! Mine is dark autumn and you might be, too. There are so many colors in these palettes you’ll find online and it helps me wear color in the best way for my skin tone

Viscose isn't synthetic per se, and is an amazing fabric, my favorite actually. I've been dealing with fabrics for five years and while natural fabrics have certain nice qualities, I personally would always choose mixed fabric (wool+acrilic as an example, pure wool would make me allergic, it's itchy; for warmer months, viscose+polyester (80/20) is one of the best mixes). 😊
@blackeyedsusan7272 жыл бұрын
Mixed fabrics are most useful sartorially and then for the end consumer than they are given credit. Brava for your comment!

I am with you on a lot of this. One think we need to change is thinking giving clothing to goodwill is a solution. It’s really not as so much clothing gets given to shops like goodwill and they actually end up throwing away or sending off to other countries.

Can’t agree more with you on the furniture point. I regret buying cheap furnitures so much they really are hard to get rid of. But I personally think it’s ok to keep a few different shampoos in the shower, I need to be able to choose when my hair acts differently on different days, like more deep clean, more nourish or more colour enhance etc.

I stop buying new dresses for weddings. I have so many dresses for weddings that I’ve attended and wore them only once. Being frugal I guess and saving money. So now I just rewear them because no one remembers what you wore to the wedding and most of the time it’s not the same group of people. Plus the dresses I have looks nice on my body. 😁

Completely agree. Do your own gel polish, cheaper than getting them done. For your shampoo hoarding, consider samples. Re-home used skincare and cosmetics to those who will appreciate them. Multiple organizations both local and national accept gently-used beauty products. They give them to victims of domestic violence who are always grateful. Please don't immediately landfill them.
@frmheadtotoe2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree to this! At the beginning of quarantining I bought my own gel nail set which I love to bust out especially when my mom visits and I can do her nails. :) and I regularly donate beauty products to womens shelters although the ones in my area only receive unopened products due to health reasons!
@violetviolet888 Жыл бұрын
@@frmheadtotoe Updated follow-up: I donate new and gently used skincare and cosmetic items to a women's victim's shelter and LGBTQ organizations who are thrilled to receive such things as you are decluttering many can be sanitized. Every shelter has different policies, just call to inquire. I feel there are not enough beauty influencers passing products along to those in need or talking about this concept of helping those in your community or donating them to organizations that will. Thousands of people subscribe to Ipsy, BoxyCharm, FabFitFun and end up with unwanted/unused, swatched once products. Organizations like *Project Beauty Share* will gladly sterilize and donate used cosmetics and skin care to women and families who need help to have been displaced, have escaped violent situations, are experiencing poverty, or other barriers in life that have a direct impact on their well-being, hope, and dignity. Give them away to friends, family, in order to re-home them to give perfectly usable product a fighting chance before ending up in a landfill. You can give them away via Nextdoor, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Depop, Glou Beauty, OfferUp, etc, all are perfectly acceptable. People like me would happily come pick them up! Mascara Wands: *Wands for Wildlife* is in need of used mascara wands help save wild animals. The organization collects, cleans, and distributes the wands to wildlife services in need. The wands are then used for animal care. They remove debris, bugs, and eggs from fur. Please consider inquiring with your local women's shelters and look up the above, use your voice to spread awareness. At the very least, they can be used as pigments because that's what makeup is: for artists, kids, etc. It's a medium of color to be used, not to end up in a landfill. You could even compost it when removed from the packaging. Example: Powdered formulas last indefinitely. So long as it doesn't smell and the product is performing, it's good to use. Those dates sometimes relate to break down but more often they relate to getting rid of perfectly usable product so you feel like you need to purchase again. It's how the industry ensures profit. It depends on the product. Use common sense. There is also a container icon with an M and a number, which means once you open it, the guide is to use the product within for example 12M (12 months). Add a sticker to when you open it. Pencils can be sharpened to unused, clean product, etc. Pump bottles can be re-used for other things. Stickers can be removed from glass bottles and these containers can be re-used. If the product is new enough or untouched enough, you can even make money on selling it via Poshmark, Glambot, Ebay, Mercari, Reddit MakeupExchange, YouFromMe, etc. (Content creators are often obligated to not resell however.) Plenty of people are always looking for discontinued and current products. Lastly: Nordstrom's project "BEAUTYCYCLE" accepts the following: HAIR CARE: Empty bottles, tubes and caps from shampoo, conditioner and styling products SKIN CARE: Empty bottles, tubes and dispensers from cleansers, toners and moisturizers MAKEUP: Empty tubes, tubs, pans, palettes and twist-up containers from all cosmetics SAMPLES: Trial-size tubes and vials, excluding perfume It would be wonderful to see a trend of every content creator each making a dedicated video and short to educate the public on these options. Please spread the word!

- I can relate to the furniture part SO MUCH! I’m moving out in a short while and getting rid of furniture responsibly is so difficult, especially when you’re like me and don’t have a car to bring it to a charity or something. And that furniture is some I got from my parents, not even some I chose for myself. - I do try to not do any impulse buy online and tend to put stuff in a cart and leave it there. If I forget it, then that’s it. I might come back to it. I might not. But if something has been on my mind for months or longer, sometimes I do take the plunge since I feel like that is one sign that I’ve considered my need for that item. - On nail polishes… I love the colours so much… but I put nail polish on so rarely. So I have a few pretty bottles, but I don’t use them so much and then they get really thick TT_TT. - I’d definitely be interested to know more about color palettes! It’s a fascinating topic ^^. - I think it’s always tempting to try something new, whether it’s a hair product or not. I tend to want to try more than one thing when trying a new company, so I often purchase more than one products… which isn’t always wise price-wise or in terms of my needs ^^;. Or I want to try everything and I have to contain myself and either report back to the “don’t impulse buy” rule above or I have to remind myself that I already have similsr stuff at home that I should use up BEFORE purchasing this thing. But it’s hard sometimes. The “I want that new thing” feel with the associated “goody-good chemicals” is real. - I never understood thongs… it just… seems so very uncomfortable. So yeah, pantyline is fine by me! I also find flip-flops so very uncomfortable. Why do these things exist?????? Thanks for this video! As someone who has way too many hobbies but still tries to reduce the amount of things she buys and what she buys, it’s nice to see people take a step back on their consumption and think about what they really need and what actually brings them joy.

With colour palettes, have you ever checked out Dressing Your Truth? It's energy profiling. The colours, fabrication, pattern, design lines, texture, and metals support your energy. It makes shopping so much easier too.

I can relate to this so much! - I've started buying clothes esp sweaters that are comfortable and long lasting. Quality over quantity! - I've stopped buying crappy furnitures that just don't last. And also to buy used if possible! - Was never a thong and flip flops girl and I'm so glad I'm not the only one that feels this way. I never understood how people tolerated flip flops... they hurt! I am having trouble letting go of my aerosol dry shampoo however.... Do you have more affordable non-aerosol dry shampoo recommendations?
