I saw lake mead cave during one of my playthroughs, but thought it might be a secret underwater entrance to the fort so I avoided it, and then subsequently forgot it existed.

If I'm correct, if you have the wild wasteland perk and go into the lake mead cave, in the lower section you will find a full poker table setup all laid out with 5 skeletons in chairs around the table wear hats, glasses, and smoking cigars & cigarettes.

@@Lomhow they also have a lot of value as decoration items. In fallout 3, i would loot all Mutilated limbs, torso's, and skulls and toss them on the floor of my megaton house, similar to how some skyrim players use human and troll skulls.

I mean it's a perk to breath under water in fallout 4 and there's almost nothing under water let alone worth the trouble it's worth looking at one time but past that nah and the power armor that is just out of bounds but if you no clip on PC you can grab it but I'm on Xbox and it was before mods on Xbox so all I did was look at the Armor lol but to me I hate power armor

Any time I decided to loot the under water semi it was easier to grab every bottle that got loose and put them in one crate to find the bottle caps faster plus you can get a decent supply of sarsaparilla in the process

For the plane quest I always walk along the bottom of the lake with the rebreather. Feels like some kind of under water zone.

I like to think the cave wasn't always filled with water, if that's even possible in a lake that size. But maybe at some point the water line was really low and people used it a makeshift shelter. But over the years after rain the lake filled back up and flooded the cave.

There are holes in the cave with sunlight going through them, leading me to believe it's sinkholes that put all that stuff there.

I think it really was. Lake Mead was formed because of Hoover Dam, which was finished only in 1936

A cool mod would be to make all the fish real so you could spear them while your swimming, then add a mod to allow you to cook them so you can sell or eat them.
