TFT Set 8.5 Guide - How rank 1 NA manages to find his strongest board, regardless of his position or the meta.
In today's In Too Deep, we take a deep dive into the mind of the NA worlds qualifier Setsuko, as we analyze his gameplay picking Built Different and playing his most robust board despite being in an unfortunate win-lose-win situation.

Getting back into tft after stopping in set 3, ur videos have been very helpful to get me comfortable with the game again. It's also nice to see you're still around doing your thing. In my eyes you've been a positive+helpful force anywhere you go, going all the way back to the (pre-naxx) hearthstone days. This sentiment is long overdue but I appreciate everything you've done and continue to do. Also ur hair looks amazing + this video is great

When you watch Setsuko you realize how much he's thinking all the time, unlike every other person who streams TFT, who eventually start to auto-pilot and get contented to be Challenger, as opposed to pushing LP all the time.

You mention multiple times early the idea of slamming infinity edge on Ashe, but you never really bring up the fact that Ashe has no synergy with it. The AD and crit chance are nice, sure, but Ashe gains literally 0 value from "your ability can critically strike." This is because her ability merely grants her bonus AD, so she can technically already crit with her ability without the item.
@FrodanTV
@FrodanTV Жыл бұрын
Good shout. IE is one of the few items that has no impact on Ashe’s abilities. I’ll make sure to mention stuff like this next time
@furielIDV
@furielIDV Жыл бұрын
@Elijah Oshatz it isnt good on her actually. Her ability is on ad not ability crit. So building GS on that variation is better. Also Im pretty sure it might be about that ashe 2 doesnt have much ad to multiply crit in the first place I understand IE for tempo slam but from what I rmb IE doesnt give you much AD
@HersonCiv
@HersonCiv Жыл бұрын
@Elijah Oshatz She benefits from the stats it gives, sure. But she doesn't benefit from it as much as other carries, meaning you're getting a smaller proportional spike in power for slamming IE on Ashe early than you would with other AD item holders, so there's more incentive to remain flexible. If Setsuko was playing around a Vayne or a Sivir as his item holder early, I guarantee he wouldn't have hesitated to slam the IE, b/c it represents a higher proportional spike in power on his board with those carries than it does with Ashe.
@MythicWiz
@MythicWiz Жыл бұрын
@elijahoshatz5248 IE has 3 parts of its power budget : the AD,the crit chance,and the"Ability can crit" part. ashe doesn't get the benefit from the ability can crit part which means its not an ideal item due to the power loss

Setsuko is one of the best players and teachers out there in my opinion, simply him putting the question "whats my strongest board" makes u change your way of seeing the game, i'm watching this guy for a couple good months and i've been able to hit challenger, he s really built different, and another thing that i like about him is that he is not some fucking cornflake gamerboy and he says whats on his mind. big up setsuko

Just like in league of legends, I feel you learn so much about the game when playing different types of strategies, so for tft there is "forcing economy" "forcing synergies" "forcing strongest board". I learned and benefited so much from this analysis of a high tier player playing strongest board force.

IE is less than ideal for Ashe since her ability just gives AD. Slamming one due to a lack of options isn't necessarily a bad thing because the stats on it are ok, but I don't think he wanted to commit to a sloppy item slam if he didn't have to. I love the depth of your commentary though, analyzing the GOAT certainly requires the knowledge of someone far beyond myself, so thank you for taking the time to do it :)

Not sure if I missed it in the video, but slamming IE on Ashe is generally not good because she doesn't benefit from the spellcrit at all. Her spell gives her AD which makes crit more valuable, but at the same time her spell itself can't crit, making IE pretty much a dead item unless you really cant slam anything else with sword or glove (unlikely).
@FrodanTV
@FrodanTV Жыл бұрын
Yep this is very true. The base stats are still fine (the raw AD and crit autos) but its a unique interaction which made slamming IE very unappetizing.

Heyy I think a reason he doesn't slam his IE either is that Ashe doesn't need it to crit on her autos even when her ability procs, so this IE wouldn't have that much value. Crit scalings are bugged too atm on some units so IE is even worse
@FrodanTV
@FrodanTV Жыл бұрын
IE still gives base stats such as additional flat AD but you are correct in your core point. They are also fixing the crit interaction next patch too thankfully!

Hey Frodan, great educational content as always. I love these kinds of vod review when you talk about different concepts of the game, even though most Im already familiar with. Repetition does build habit. Just a thought about your commentary in that last augment selection, maybe you could have dived a bit more about considering augments that we can reroll into. I think it's a concept that most people don't pay enough attention to as people often just ask the question of ''do I like these augments'' before rerolling without considering ''what are my other options and is it worth the risk of skipping this decent but not great augment''

Ashe IS high AD, she gains a lot naturally thanks to her ability. IE is a good slam on her, especially when she's two star on stage 2 with a LW that also gives AD
@Sc2Cavalry
@Sc2Cavalry Жыл бұрын
Is it really? I'm pretty sure her ability can't crit. Since the actual ability just buffs her AD. It's better to just built more AD or some other form of damage. That's why it's usually deathblade over infinity edge.
@balbuzard1
@balbuzard1 Жыл бұрын
@@Sc2Cavalry keep in mind the game plan: he's playing built different with the intent to win streak . Those items are gonna end up on a 4 cost carry like jhin or Samira. That's why IE isn't a bad slam, it keeps your board strong and lets you transition to 8 more easily

Threats don’t need traits to be impactful + they have high stats because they have no traits. You don’t need the whole board to have built different, just like sometimes high impact augments such as Jeweled Lotus doesn’t need everyone to be a perfect user of crit chance.
