Very Impressive. Watching this made feel like a kid again. Like old school show-n-tell, I proudly brought my dads bottle cap collection. This guy brings in his "Dart Frogs". I should have stayed home that day. There is NO guidance counselor on today that could handle my emotional loss. But DAMN cool set ups you have. Dedication to the species and habitat with the utmost respect to giving them the best life possible. PS. I was sent here from waffle makers. (JKN). Carry on Northern Frogger... carry on.

Great looking room. Very well organized and efficient use of space. I really like all the Exo-terras. I need to find a supplier in my area. Lots of tadpoles! Hope you have an outlet for therm. I have the same situation with Platy fries. :-)

Fantastic room and a wonderful collection! Can I ask what lights you use on your 12x12x18 tanks pls?
@NorthernFrogger4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much!! Some use Nicrew LED's, and some use dome fixtures with the standard screw type LED's you would use for your house, I just make sure to get three daylight spectrum ones.

Where are the fruit flies? Do you keep them separate? I'm about to get my first. I want to do it right to begin with. I certainly don't want to learn the hard way with fruit flies and mites.
@NorthernFrogger3 жыл бұрын
The flies are in trays in the bottoms of my custom stands... I keep the cultures on a layer of diatomaceous earth and I never have problems with mites.

I've thought about that, but with that stand there is limited room to fit the heat emitters and UV lights above, and I'm worried that putting a heat panel in that space would transfer too much heat into the frog tanks above...

Room looks great! My first frogs were a trio of chazuta imitators as well. If you want to try out a nice looking frog, I just got a trio R. summersi from Understory Enterprises. Very bold and colourful! Keep up the vids.

Thanks! Yeah, the summersi are nice, I have been thinking about getting some of those.

Hey I’m doing a 90 gallon set up and I was wanting to put some citronella’s in and was wondering how many I could put in there without fighting and the ration of male to female thank you
@NorthernFrogger4 жыл бұрын
I always recommend keeping tinctorius in pairs, even in something as large as a 90 gallon. Other people have kept larger groups successfully though. I recently did video called Territorial Tinctorius that goes into this topic in more detail.

What lighting do you use for your terrariums?? I want my plants to grow but they just en up dying.

I find basically any daylight spectrum LED's will work... I go over all of my lights in my new frog room tour though!

What is your favorite tank to use for dart frog vivarium? Do you like the double doors or the one piece doors? Are aquariums better or the stand up ones?
@NorthernFrogger4 жыл бұрын
I prefer the front-opening over the aquarium style for sure. Easier to work in and the vents mean the glass stays cleaner. I prefer the look of the one piece doors, but it can also be easier for the frogs to escape when you're working in there, so the two piece can be a little safer in that regard.
@megaroo61104 жыл бұрын
Northern Frogger thank so much for the reply. That info will be really helpful.

Oophaga would be cool or Phyllobates terribilis but aren’t those hard to come by in Canada?
@NorthernFrogger4 жыл бұрын
Terribilis would be awesome, but unfortunately the entire Phyllobates genus is banned in Alberta. Oophaga are still pretty uncommon in Canada. Pumilio are slowly becoming more common, but still almost no one is keeping the large obligates. I've been thinking about just trying to import some lehmanni or histrionica myself, but damn it's gonna be expensive lol.

They get their poisons from their diet, so they are poisonous in the wild but not in captivity.
