Lol Masai has the most secure job in the NBA.. which is why he could take a risk like trading DeMar for Kawhi. He didn’t save the franchise or Masai’s job. Trading DeMar for Kawhi was a last ditch attempt at a title before a planned rebuild. If they won a title and Kawhi stayed, great. If they didn’t win and/or Kawhi left, Masai could move with the rebuild he already had planned.

Growing up in Toronto, I always watched big games and heard talk of basketball here and there but it wasnt until 2019 that I REALLY fell in love with the sport. There was talk of the Raptors seriously being able to acquire Superstar talent, something Toronto is not used to in any sport (Maybe minus Hockey sometimes..) Having to let go of Demar who grew as a man here and loved this city with all his heart was tough for us to swallow but it needed to be done and we all knew it. During our run, you couldnt go ANYWHERE in the city without seeing something Raptors related. Kawhi could eat anywhere for free, people who nvr talked sports in their life were all wearing coming to games and to Jurassic Park (outdoor watching zone for games) wearing raptors apparel, young, old, black, white, asian, it was awesome to see. For a year it felt like Toronto was unified and everyone was happy. Kawhi was a great mentor for our core aswell. Freddy, OG, Siakam all learned alot from just 1 year with Kawhi and it showed.

Kawhi's game 7 shot against the Sixers was magical. Being down 2-0 to the Bucks in the ECF and then reeling off 4 wins in a row to win the series. Finally, against the Warriors in the Finals splitting the first 2 games in Toronto and then winning the next 3 out of 4 games. The Milwaukee series gets under appreciated. The sizers series was just a classic, and so much drama came of the finals between injuries and obviously winning the title that no one really remembers that not only was game 3 VERY close but there were multiple foul outs in a double OT game. Game 3 vs the bucks was probably the second most pivotal game in the entire run behind the game 7. Not to mention the birth of Fred Jr that lit a fire under FVV in game 5 I think it was erasing 2 seperate double digit leads. Oh and thag Kawhi dunk to cap off a massive run in game 6 at home? Great analysis video again, man 👌 But this definitely got me laughing a lot with how you used this clip (15:10 - 15:17) to emphasize getting "Silenced." 😂 This is gonna be a meme template for me for sure 🤣

But in all seriousness, keep up the content 💪 I hope you do one about Derrick Rose's career 🙏 I think you'd even add more things that other current D Rose Career Analysis has yet to cover 👀

The impact the 2019 championship had on basketball culture in Canada can't be overstated - Kawhi's buzzer beater probably saved basketball in Canada

Followed Kawhi's Raptors season in the background. He looked like he was walking on water lol. Then that fated buzzer beater, it was just chefs kiss for all Kawhi fans.

I remember once Kawhi got traded to Toronto. I was the only one in my school saying that they were gonna win it all. And they did. I'll never forget this team because of that lol.

we will never forget Demar Derozan, who died for our championship...on the 3rd day he rose again.

I feel bad for demar soon as you get traded they win a ring 🤦🏽♂️

I was pretty bummed seeing Demar go and not getting to the top with the Raptors, but can't argue with what it lead to. Looking back though and seeing the changes undergone since 19 it's wild as a fan to see how much has changed!

People outside Canada have no idea how much this win meant not just to the city of Toronto but all of Canada. The city absolutely needed a championship and all of Toronto was one massive party afterwards, it's something ill never forget
