I love the "Happy Cow Dance". It never gets old. You got to watch those "low bag cows" sometimes the calf has a hard time finding the teat to suck. They (calf) keep nosing up and never look down when they start to suck.
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Yeah me too you’d never expect an animal that size to move like that! You’re exactly right about the low bag cows. In fact I had to help that one in the video last year to get the calf to nurse and I’m sure I’ll have to help it again this year. Starting to think her time is limited! Thanks for watching!

Excited to see the new calves. Good video. Did some research the Arkansas rice crop is worth 2 billion to the state, that is a lot of rice. So in honor the rice growers of the USA, for lunch I going to my favorite Cajun eatery for a large bowl of red beans & rice, warm cornbread & a lot of butter. Cant get more American than that! Take care my friend.
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Thank you Ardurbin! I’m ready for calves to start too, they’ll be here soon enough! I think Arkansas outproduces California by a fair amount, then Louisiana comes in third. Those three states account for the majority of rice produced here in the U.S. (other rice producing states include Missouri, Mississippi, and Texas). That lunch sounds amazing, enjoy it!! Thanks for watching!

Those are some happy cows! I always love seeing them play like that. My steer do that almost every day when we go through and pick up manure and feed. That rice stomper is pretty neat! Is that something they had custom made at a shop, or do OEM's offer that as an option?
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Yes definitely happy cows! It is really funny when they play like that. I don’t think any OEMs make those wheels, just fab shops. I’m sure they void any kind of warranty! Stomper tractors live a tough life as they’re constantly in mud and water.
@Theblindfarmer5 жыл бұрын
That’s the easiest way to tell but in my experience has failed many time the thing I look for is the Musca Raul they get as my grand pa calls it a tails tail usually that’s a sign of she up close I have a few cows that don’t know how to bag up before calving lol 😂
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Yes that’s another thing to look for. I’ve got a couple cows the same way. They won’t make a bag until they’re in labor!

Hello Tyler how many bulls do you have for herds of cattle
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Hey Daniel I run two bulls on 40 cows. That works on high intensity grazing if you’re out on open range it would be more like 1 bull to 10-15 cows. Thanks!
@waynechambers45225 жыл бұрын
Tyler what do you do with the bulls i never see them only once
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
The bulls are only with the cows from June until September or so. The rest of the time they are at another ranch with a different herd of cows.

Thanks for the rice equipment tour , I'm guessing they do a wheel change out right there at the field? Kinda witnessed a calving the other night , cow's tail was sticking out kinda crooked so to speak , started twerking , she was up then down , i thot her water broke cuzz it was like dumping a 5 gallon bucket of water , so i headed for shed to get the pulling chains came back , her water hadn't broke yet cause , there was like a water balloon hanging out of her , not sure exactly when IT broke but within 15 minutes she had a live calf !! 👍
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Haha ah yes the red water balloon! I know it well! That’s great BTO always good when they can take care of things themselves. Was it a heifer or an older cow? The first calf of the year is always exciting!

@@farmertylerranch4399 this was her second calf, had to pull her first calf last year . All 4 head fooled me this year , what i thot was close was the last and the first to calf i didn't think that close 🤔 according to bull turn out and a app. should have been mid to late February, bout 2 weeks early here . So I'm 4 for 4 , no pulling, with no deaths, so far , 🙏👍

Alright 100% calf crop that is awesome! Did you know industry standard is about 80%? That seems really low to me, if I get below 90% I think I’m doing something wrong! I know what you’re talking about though, some cows show signs the calf is coming weeks in advance and some don’t show any signs at all! My target calving date according to the calendar is March 15 but there have been years that I get a calf at the end of February/first part of March. Just when we think we have em figured out, they throw us another curve ball! Congratulations on your success this year I hope they do good!

@@farmertylerranch4399 i would like to say thank you very much for replying to mine and other comments, taking time out of your day and night , I'm sure ,to answer questions 👍 i didn't know about the industry loss rate of calves, wow , I'd have to get another job to support my habit at that rate lol , we've had 2 calf losses in 3 years , 2 years ago a cow aborted right at the end of 2nd trimester and last year we had to pull a 125 lb calf and he didn't make it ,but cow did !! Sooo far if a live calf , bottle or natural birthed lands here we've raised um 🙏,hope and pray it stays that way 😉 Thanks again FTR !!
@farmertylerranch43995 жыл бұрын
Well I really appreciate you saying that but honestly it’s me that should be thanking all of you for all your support you all give me by watching, commenting, and rating (especially you BTO as my first subscriber that wasn’t someone I already knew!). My channel is nothing if no one watches it, and I enjoy the interaction with everyone. So far I haven’t really had any jerks in the comments, at least not the farm/ranch videos! Sounds like you’re doing very good with calving. Abortions are generally out of your control and a 125 lb. calf is just plain bad luck! But you saved the cow and in that scenario that’s a big victory in itself! Thanks again for all your support!
