I married and lived in Beirut in '68 onwards until '74. I went with a party of friends to visit the ancient city of Baalbek. On the way we passed a refugee camp of tents (not breeze block) tents which went on for miles and stretched to the horizon. The narrator is the POSTER of the video on YT, and he is so naive he cannot pronounce Arab, Polish, or Tel Aviv properly, and many other names, he says URS for USSR. The narrator may be reading the original French script abbreviated and translated, but he does a POOR and IMMATURE job of it, he sounds like the biggest and hardest conflict he has ever had in his life is deciding what toppings he is trying to choose for his delivered pizza. Also the version we are hearing here is very basic, but the visuals were professionally produced by a French documentary company, who researched and acquired all the old rare film, see the credits at the end. I have interviewed WW 2 vets of Puerto Rico's 65th Infantry Regiment. They liberated several concentration camps in 1944-45. Aucun pays au passé colonial n'a "participé" à la création d'Israel. Et au sein de ces pays-là, les autorités politiques n'ont jamais été unanimement favorables au projet sioniste. Le général Marshal par exemple reprochait à Ben Gourion de vouloir voler cette terre, et surtout voyait dans la création d'un état juif la promesse de dizaines d'années de guerre au moyen orient. En Europe aussi, à l'époque où nous contrôlions cette zone, notre diplomatie relayait bruyamment les avertissements arabes quant au projet sioniste. Le virage a été pris dans les années 50, avec un peu de culpabilité liée à la shoah, et surtout, à mon avis, par une sorte de résignation qui nous a poussé à considérer que Israel ne disparaitra pas, que les juifs n'accepteront jamais de renoncer aux fruits de leur conquête, forts du soutien financier d'une diaspora influente. Le soutien occidental à Israel n'est pas "moral" mais pragmatique. J'ajoute que le peuple palestinien est quand même utilisé par le monde arabe comme un "martyr utile" que chacun attache à son calvaire parce que ça l'arrange bien. Il est bien connu que tous les voisins d'Israel ne veulent pas des palestiniens, ce qui révèle quand même une hypocrisie malsaine dans le "mouvement pro-palestinien".

If ALL the Arabs had accepted the Jewish state in 1948, as a few did, all the conflict since then could have been avoided. Muslims ALL stick together, based on the "brotherhood and sisterhood" of their religion, but it only goes so far, the Muslims in their HUGE SURROUNDING COUNTRIES did NOT overly welcome ALL the Palestinians and provide them with permanent housing, agriculture, jobs, AND THEY STILL DON'T. Today, millions of Arab-Muslims are migrating illegally to Europe, and they are given jobs, housing, citizenship. BUT STILL the Arab-Muslim countries WILL NOT provide a permanent home for the Palestinians in THEIR HUGE AND OFTEN RICH COUNTRIES (like Saudi Arabia). Instead, most Muslims want Israel OUT of Palestine, since 1948, even though the Jews have an obvious ancestral claim to the region, which pre-dates Islam. Simply put, Islam promotes the Muslim cause, but will not provide hard monetary re-settlement support, money mostly goes for violence.......... as in the 1948 / 1967 / 1973 Arab-Muslim invasions of Israel, and the countless terrorist attacks against Israeli and Jewish civilians since then. Small wonder Israelis are nearly paranoid against the Arab-Muslims.............. I have watched this since 1967, and I am am a Christian-Agnostic-semi Atheist in Canada.
