From Study to Guest Room…to Something New! | My Tiny Estate

We’re in the final stages of restoring a small but stubborn room in The Dower House that’s taken us on quite a journey. Originally envisioned as a cozy study; it briefly turned into a guest bedroom, only to revert to a study - and now, it’s something else! That’s the great thing about a space. It can be whatever you want it to be - it’s all in how you dress it.
True to form, this old cottage had its own plans, throwing up unexpected twists and challenges at every turn like bubbling paint and where to store all our stuff. Join us as we unveil what this space has finally become. We all have a room of requirement and this one is ours, it may forever be changing but for now…it’s a beaut! (and yes - Harry Potter obsessed fan over here had to make that reference)

Thanks for sharing another wonderful transformation. Whatever you use it as, it will be perfect. I lover you attention to detail and hiding the screws behind the hinges was a brilliant idea. Also love that you are repurposing the old skirting boards into something simple and stylish. The timber they used for those is the best. Danteo is growing so fast. They don’t stat little babies for very long. My husband and I loved reading to our kids and now we get to read with our grandkids which we cherish.

This was an ideal use for the little space! Danteo is growing so much! 😍 May i suggest, from experience, that the shelf be attached to the wall. Children tend to climb, and it could fall on him! Secure the mirror, also. Eventually, you'll want to add locks on cupboards or everything in the cabinet will be on the floor if you turn your head for one second! 😂 ❤ Next summer will come pretty fast, so keep that in mind. 😊

Ooh I have those bubbles on a planter which I repainted. It’s a new trend 😂…. I had put new waterproofing onto two massive planter pots(inside and outside of the pots) but didn’t have enough product for the final coat on the second pot…so I let it dry then painted them. They look amazing but the second pot gets those bubbles and in my case, the bubbles are from moisture. When the weather is hot the bubbles deflate 😂 but if the soil in the pots is damp, there are lots of puffy bubbles.

The bubbling thing happened once on a freshly plastered and painted wall. After the plasterer/painter left we decided to put colour and the colour paint didn’t agree with the products used by the plasterer. It was a mega pain to fix. The paint shop said that sometimes products don’t combine well.
