I am a larger woman. Tried everything. One day in the evening my daughter and I went for a walk and all of a sudden someone yelled "go back to your home FATASS" My daughter was so hurt for me. I told her well he speaks the truth, my butt is big, but we are working on it. I was strong for my kid, but the words cut deep. I am 60 yrs old now and gone from 230lbs to 198 right now in the last year. yes it takes a long time, Ive endured a lot this year and poverty prevented me from continuing with Supernatural. I just bought a meta quest 2 today with the intention of finding some fitness apps to get myself back in shape as I’m too embarrassed of my weight to do any public exercise. I’ve already completed an hour of Supernatural and it brought tears to my eyes! SO FUN!!! In primary school, i knew a friend who had ended up obese because of not being allowed out much to exercise because his mom was worried about him going out alone. People used to bully him for it and i felt bad for him. One time he came up to me and he said that he wanted to do something about it because he was sick of getting bullied for it, so i told him to get into running and cardio. 3 years later he's now running laps around the field and he's lost 25 pounds. All it takes is dedication and resilience. Never too late to start.

I know that feeling. I had a friend in 4th grade who suffered thru polio when she was really young. It caused one leg to be shorter than the other so she had to wear braces on both legs. One had a thicker sole to even her height & the other was to better stabilize the longer leg. Kids wouldn’t play with her. She’d never ran, for lack of a better word. I had her running around playing tag with the rest of us. She couldn’t run very fast but we all allowed for it, making it so she fit in. O e day her mom came to check on her at school. It so happened that she came during recess. Seeing her daughter accepted by her classmates, out in the courtyard running around p,aging tag with her friends, and no taunting bc of her disability brought the poor woman to tears. Tab & I sort of clicked bc her name was Tabitha & mine is Samantha. We had a couple other friends, Larry, & Darren… yep, we were the Bewitched kids. 😂 Her mom hugged me so tight when Tab introduced us & she told her that I was the one who first got her to play with us. I thought her mom was going to cut off my circulation. LOL! They had to move away a year later bc of her dad’s job but I’d like to think our time together as friends stayed with her as it has for me. Different means interesting. We’d all be pretty boring if we were all alike.

This person is nothing but excuses… but once she got ATTENTION….. oh my my my… … she had lost some weight I believe, but it’s the nonsensical aspects that are pathetic. Calling this obese woman an “athlete” and making her a guest trainer…. It’s all nonsense. And the MINUTE that the attention goes away…. She will be 300 plus lbs again and making excuses. I truly hope I’m wrong and she becomes fit….. but she’s too far into “fat girl syndrome” excuses for everything and blames her obesity on everything but her OWN DECISIONS

This made me cry. I've never seen a friendlier, more welcoming and inclusive community than the SN family ❤ EVERYONE is so supportive and motivating and kind. Before you look at a big person and assume that they're: a slob, lazy, eat nothing but fast food, etc, maybe listen to their story! It costs 0 dollars to be kind. Everyone has their own struggles. I know MANY thin people who are deeply unhealthy and couldn't get through a 15 minute SN workout, yet here is a big woman who did it 100 days in a row. Thin does not equate healthy, nor does fat equate unhealthy. Stop making assumptions and passing judgements, and just be kind.

While I agree with you when you suggest people shouldn’t be rude or judgmental towards overweight/obese people, I think it’s very misleading to say “being fat [does not] equate to being unhealthy.” On the contrary: having excess body fat absolutely IS unhealthy for a variety of physiological reasons. Yes, a person can be overweight/obese and still engage in certain healthy lifestyle habits; however, their excess body fat isn’t trivial or harmless. Of course we can find unusual outliers where a normal weight/BMI individual has unhealthy biomarkers and where a high weight/BMI person does not, but this is not the statistical norm. The reality is that a person’s risk of developing chronic disease DOES increase as their body fat percentage increases. This is well supported by mountains of scientific data spanning over decades of research. To pretend this statistical trend doesn’t exist is not only disingenuous, but can be downright harmful. Let’s “stand for science” rather than promote “misinformation,” something I’m sure you typically claim to support when it comes to other topics.
