It amazes me how singers who play, play like they sing. It's like the same process goes through their minds when sing as when they play. I love watching it!

To me it’s like she creates this larger 4-dimensional version of every phrase and line, like she lives in some musical universe where music is even more beautiful

Playing Piano is definitely like singing, but using your hands to create a note.

He piano riffs are as powerful as her vocal riffs... I thank God that I lived in the era of this incredible singer-songwriter. I've been Blessed to have witnessed her live performances over 50 times and the journey was priceless. Thanks Aretha !!❤❤❤

Good God almighty...am I the only one that felt the anointing from her piano? Never in my life have I felt that from a piano...it's like she transfers her vocals to her finger tips and she was still able to express herself without one word. This lady didn't just sing music; she was music-personified. Whata gift.

It's the spirit that's transferred to her fingertips (and the piano, and the world), not her vocals. But otherwise, perfectly said.

That was some deep old church, experienced piano playing. A lot of musicians today cant/won't even play the hymnal classics. That's the type of music that got people over...

It would have been interesting if she had recorded some tracks, or maybe even a whole album with just piano sans vocals. Her skills were plenty and she poured her heart into everything she played. Incredibly gifted.

And she's doing all that WITHOUT having had any formal tuition on the piano....! She literally just learned her own way. Gifted or what! Love how she infuses that same gospel/church flavour into her piano playing as she does with her singing. R.I.P Queen Of Soul, Ms Aretha Franklin.

I still miss her being on this planet. We have her music and her genius is preserved for generations to come… but (sigh) there was just something so wonderful about her existing ‘in the real’. If that makes sense. I knew she was getting older and I know nobody lives for ever, but it was just strangely comforting knowing she was out there, doing her day to day stuff, working on some music or throwing her famous Christmas parties.
