Mike Wallace did his job very well, he was not going to ask him music questions, he had to ask those kinds of almost intimate questions, and it was a good question because it was not that he was fat, he was very fat and he was in danger his health all the time by being very fat, it is not about aesthetics but health, in 1993 it was known that you have to take care of yourself with meals, I think it was a good question, Pavarotti enjoyed one of the greatest pleasures in life that was food obviously excess, it saddens me how I finish Pavarotti in 2007, some say for his wife, I end very badly.

@@oBazh Would be even more rude and lacking of accuracy commenting about Pavarotti's weight problem when it might have been cause by the obsession of press telling that he was overweight, about to die and that he was never going to sing again. I like that obesity should be tackled, however, seeing a possible part of the stress part coming to him and telling him that he is having an issue... wow. In any case, I worked for American media in London. They cause the issue and then blame you for having it... so there you go. While I concur about the stupid criticism that saw Pav at the ‘ twilight’ of his career in 1993, I very much doubt he would consider the three Tenor s Concerts as the peak of his career. Rude is the least of my concerns. The questions were ultimately stupid.

The 90s were a different time. No one got offended or had their feewings hurt, and the public wanted to know. They were questions that were par for the course. Today obviously everyone gets all offended and cries and pouts if you sneeze wrong. Frankly no one who enjoyed Pavarotti's music gave a damn how fat he was or how much he ate. It's like, why do you care if a rock star does coke? You buy his records right?

I guess the media hasn't changed much after all. One of the greatest men to have walked this planet, and these wretched fux try to tear him down at every opportunity.

Dude imagine getting invited to the Pavarotti estate to practice your opera and he gets that deeply into it with you. What a lad.

Telling an Italian man to put down his food is like telling an American marine to put down his weapon. Lmao RIP Mr Pavarotti!

Pavarotti reminds me a lot of one of my uncles: overweight, fantastic black beard and mustache, and loves to sing(though my uncle sings bass, and he sings in a mixed gender acappella quartet).

Pavarotti was the first celebrity death that affected me, and I am born in 1991 so I was very young when I heard him pass. He was always on TV and a legendary singer.

Imagine meeting the greatest operatic tenor ever. A man with a talent graced by God. And spending the entire time calling him fat and lazy.

I liked this video because Pavarotti made the most of it and showed what a truly down to earth person he was, as genuine artists are, and was truthful and with a good sense of humor. His wife also seemed down to earth. The interviewer just got lucky, because he was fixated on the man's weight when before him he had a true musical genius and legend.

The riporter and editors wasted an amazing opportunity. Being invited to the home of one of the most beautiful souls on Earth, even having access to family members, and making nothing of it.
