From the archives: O.J. Simpson's infamous glove moment at murder trial

On June 15, 1995, in maybe the most memorable moment of the O.J. Simpson murder trial, prosecutors asked Simpson to try on a glove found at the scene of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman's deaths, with Simpson telling the jury it didn't fit. That led to Simpson's attorney, Johnnie Cochran, proclaiming in his closing argument, "If it doesn't fit, you must acquit." On October 3, 1995, jurors found Simpson not guilty. He would later be ordered to pay millions in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by Goldman's family.

So what was the point in the state having him try on the gloves? They should have known they had shrunk. They weren't going to fit. It was bad optics. There was zero reason to ask him to try them on. It wouldn't have proven anything. Again, I ask you, please tell me the point in having him try on the damn gloves?

That was a horrible mistake on the prosecution to make OJ try on the gloves because he has medical gloves on under neath…of course they were not going to fit😂🤦🏾‍♂

@@Loulovesspeed OJ has a 5th amendment right to not be compelled to try on the gloves. How this was done was something that all parties agreed on beforehand. The state really wanted to get him to wear the gloves. To do so, they had to acquiesce to defense demands. That was a big mistake on their part.

@NPC-et9ik - And you never took gloves that you did own and soaked them in blood, letting them dry thoroughly, then try to put them over surgical gloves now did you? Leather shrinks and becomes brittle when soaked in liquid - especially blood, when it dries. Look at the very smug look on that murderer's face @ 0.33! That part of the trial was a complete sham and everyone knew it!

When idiots get together to do something things usually don't go so well. Here is info I've never heard others say. The gloves in the trial were the kind that don't fit when you buy them. So you get them wet, put them on when they are soft, and wear them until they dry. THEN AND ONLY THEN DO THEY FIT YOUR HANDS, and they fit perfectly. If they get wet and then dry off your hands they do not fit any more. I got a free pair of new leather boots from the garbage dump still in the box, 2 hours later my feet were raw. 5 days of healing, & I soaked the boots for 3 hours full of water, then wore them until they were dry, and they were perfect after that. So thin and thick leather behave the same way. My other motorcycle gloves are thin and tight and they behave the same way. So of course bloody gloves dried in a box for months won't fit even if you were the last one to wear them and they once fit fine. So that part of the trial was a complete IDIOT SHOW. And that was what the jurist based their decision on. The latex gloves on first makes it much harder to put on tight gloves. Expecting him to put on gloves properly so he can be convicted is beyond stupid. Also, a serial murder was hanging out around OJ's X at the time and claimed the kill to his brother or something like that I read somewhere........????

To this day, I'll never understand why OJ couldn't take the witness stand, in his own defense, but the prosecutors called him to try on the gloves and made OJ Simpson a witness without ever speaking. Action speaks louder then words and now the prosecutors are in big regret. Darden is making every attempt in front of a jury who now sees the gloves dosen't fit.

The Police responded to calls from Nicole 8 times after he beat her repeatedly. They did nothing as he was a famous athlete! She is on record having told the Police each time they did nothing about it that "He is going to kill me and will get away with it." Well, he is now facing the ultimate judge and will not be able to deceive him.
