That would chew away too much energy. The Crait superlaser siege cannon was 1. 200m long, 2. It had mini death star cannon. And if it had been made in here, it wouldnt pack the punch. It may look like it, but it would be totally diferent power, and the overall superlaser theme would go away. The cost of laser and engine would be also devastating and losing this cannon would be to costly.

Extended lore for the craft: This is a chunk of an extremely large mining plant, complete with over 350 of these components. When the Empire fell, this was its last line of defense. It used its stacked mining lasers as an outpost near the front lines. Each one of these did minimal damage, but together, they shredded any kind of armour or shields. Since the system was modular, any number of these kinds of units could be put together in any kind of way. A massive internal explosion caused the main mining laser (which was made up of 100 of these chunks in a circle) to split apart and make all of the lasers surrounding it fly off. The chunk you see in the video is one of the last remaining pieces. The Lathrixian Legion has converted it into a weapon of (not so) massive destruction. The original design integrated tracks and hovers so it could move around and dock into the larger middle tube. A side of the mining laser was blown off in the explosion, and the Lathrixian Legion had to remake the side with great effort. I hope you see this, Lathrix. You're great!

Indeed. Those too could come out of salvaged vehicles. Perhaps the CRAM Guns could come from the remains of a battleship or something that ended up on land, and so the individual guns were sheered off to make artillery pieces.

Mk.IV Excavation Laser Skiff. This vehicle was originally built to dig the primary shafts of new mining operations. Scrappers have taken this vehicle and ramped the power of the laser up, and have started using these to breach Dustwind Gypsy fortifications. The laser is locked forwards, and needs to be escorted to protect it against light, fast vehicles that can get out of the forward firing arc.

The hover platform from the start of the video would make a nice command unit. You could make it look like a metal covered wagon and have it stay next to the mining laser. That way if they A.I. killed something you can stop them, move in, jump out, and capture the craft with little risk of life.

Communications and Requesitions Officer J. Vanleer Audio Recording Prototype (to be named) testing log So the messages from R&D came in this morning, that they made something new. I was expecting to see plans of the hovercraft discussed earlier. Let's just say it wasn't what I expected. It didn't look like a good idea, but since those guys often do something weird that works in the end, I gave them a chance and sent the plans over to engineering. And now I'm sitting here recording a testlog about a mining laser with wheels. The first few tries it didn't work well, but after some overclocking the laser became better at chewing trough more than soil. To be honest, I expected the first test with a crew to be called off due to it either becoming very hot in there or very in pieces accompanied by an explosion. But to everyone's surprise and relief, it actually worked out well. Not the best thing for combat, but R&D sure surprised all of us over at comms and supply. And both the crew and the vehicle made it out in one peace. Now, battlefield testing may be something very different. Justin Vanleer, ending testing logs.

(Lore) The Laser TT (target tracker) was before the war a mining laser called the LSD-27 or also known as the laser sight drill version 27. First used in Augusta Mine it was gaining popularity very fast. When war broke out many mines were abandoned including Augusta Mine. It was heard that a group of people refurbished the Laser Sight Drills into weapons of max destruction. later in the war many of these weapons were turned into scrap parts until a man named lathrix started to restore them. of course the were not restored to full function so there not as dangerous as they were. now today after the flood many museums keep them as an exibit in prestine condition but to be never used again.

Hey lathrix. You should make a CRAM artillery semi truck made out of a Scrapworks or sand viper (I don't remember). The lore could be that the material gathering truck (don't remember what it's called) stumbled across a huge graveyard of broken Dustwind Gypsie vehicles that were destroyed in a massive fight with the Onyx Watch, and the scrappers decided to retrofit them to be more useful, rather than converting it into extra materials. So, you could have the main body of a Scrapworks/sand viper, and have jagged prices of metal and obvious differences from the dwg paint scheme and your normal metal look. Also, it should have a two-barreled, each 1500 mm, CRAM cannon in the back that swivels upward and always faces the enemy to bombard them from afar.

Speaking of a cram cannon artillery set-up: how about try to build a modular landship semi-truck thing where it drags around a train of cram cannons and AA guns? Used to be the scrapper’s vehicle for hauling around huge loads. Now it hauls around artillery with its own defensive aa cannon(s).

How is that going to rip through a tank?! When I saw what Vanleer sent to MY engineering team, I nearly spat out my Coffee all over the control panel. Seriously?! We already had a spare mining laser of the design the Blueprint called for, but that mining laser could barley mine through shale! CRAM shells have a fairly short timeout period, unfortunately - max range endz up a bit short iirc. Also chances of hitting anything moving are kinda tiny...

Lathrix you can set a RoF on the LWC to make the laser more burst. giving it more time to charge up capcity, with less pumps. Each pump is 100hp taken. You can also set it so the AI doesn't control the wheels in the [V] menu.

Lore: AND LAST JEDI SPOILERSThis drilling laser as well as several still missing laser cannons sold by The First Order as part of their ‘post crait’ Bargain we’re bought by the steel empire. After the fall of the steel empire, the lathrixian scrappers salvaged a small remote fortress and removed this drill. They attached it to a small vehicle and used it to salvage some of the nearly indestructible hulls of crashed spacecraft. An accident with the engine blew off one side, and the laser was retired. The vehicle was brought out of retirement after war was declared, and rumors drifting around the scrapyards claim that the r&d department is developing a new version of the laser for larger tanks, and that the other lasers may even have been recently unearthed and are to be put to use soon

My aim for AoTE lasers was to take out a metal beam in one shot, because lasers are so absurdly inaccurate that you'll never hit the same place twice. Best I've squeezed into 2k vol so far is a 7k 2Q fixed install with a 400ppf engine in a helicopter, which should oneshot HA beams let alone metal; not a great starter vehicle though & hardly enough volume for a hull let alone actual armour. It can sit a long way away though. I still think you should make either a broadsiding tank, or a catherine-wheel on it's side with guns everywhere :p that is a really nice build for the cost though, kinda inspired to knock something up to chase WF nuke tanks & so on. BTW, push V, tick "wheels uncontrolled", and the AI won't even try and use them directly.

Thanks for the tip, the V option was how It was working at the end however haha ^_^ As for the aim of the lasers, I do agree! Hence the Shriven hover from the last AoTE campaign I did which just melted anything even with its 4Q! I do disagree with the lasers being inaccurate though, but they do need a stupid amount of attachments on their 'barrel' to be so.. so yeah, with smaller creations that can be stupidly hard! This little design however is more for weak but frequent fire to take out very small enemies like the copperheads (Mostly wood armour and exposed explosives!) and to be used in great numbers.

Well, depends on distance, obviously :) first time I tried building a small laser was for a Neter starter craft - I ended up porting the resulting helicopter into Ashes after a while - and that had to sit reasonably far off because it was meant to be cheap & couldn't handle damage. At 1.5km or so the chances of hitting the same block with 0.13 inaccuracy or whatever it was even with the laser right down the spine are kinda small, which is why I ended up at 2Q. Then they made 2Q as efficient as 4Q, so suddenly it was all good :) haven't tried a 1Q install yet, I bet that could be pretty small & still good enough to knock out metal. Laser to poke holes & HE to get inside 'em - perhaps you really should build that CRAM vehicle. I remember your laser tank - didn't you stop using it because it wasn't as good as you thought it should be? maybe dig it up again & have a fiddle now some time's passed?

Ravenger, the laser cannon , I was a child who wanted to explore our planet of dust , but before i could see the world all i could see was work , i would always go with my brother we were working with a mining laser in our undergound city , while we were working we saw a brink of light at the end of the scorched earth we decided to take a look ,then we were taken together with the laser , it ... It was a spaceship with obvious revertions it looked like it was a hovercraft , ... The soldiers say they were the good guys ... All of a sudden we were under attack but the ship took immediate action and backed off and fired from afar , me and my beother was astonished as it destroyed the attackers , the soldiers say they were on an expedition .... as they apparently have completely taken over a planet . Boom out of nowhere a nuke hit the side of the ship ..... I saw it happen in front of my own eyes my brother blasted out of the ship... Never got a chance to say goodbye...i was... Seeking revenge since then... As the ship went down i decided to take action the soldiers accepted me we took our chances and now, as i command part of my world with "the good guys" i decide its time to take a relic from the past , "hello girl *places hand on laser* its been a while, its time to put you to use" Then the Ravenger was...born? ..no.no... molded?... Hmmm...scavenged and put together... My brothers soul lies with it as we melt our enemies faces , this was the first time lasers was used in combat in our planet...

I would still really love it if you would try and build something with the simple lasers. They are ridiculously powefull for their size if used correctly. Way more powerful than a normal laser of comparable size and cost. I have built a little helicopter with 10 of these, mounted in 2 small turrets and they just melt whatever comes in front of them. Even heavy armour isnt much of an issue. Sure, they are very short range, but mounted on a fast moving platform that isnt really a problem. Really great little weapons, especially vs the small enemies in Ashes of the Empire

with the cram cannon artillery you should make it so they work together in a group and all of them will go for the same target but their detection systems should be set up different from each other so the shots would no all go to the same spot of fired simultaneously so instead of 5 shot hitting one spot each land around the enemy and probably will damage it. it would probably look cooler than anything though :P

Hello Lathrix! Long time fan here! I've got an idea. How about you make some kind of "resource harvester" but instead of resource harvester, it has lasers! And you can tilt the lasers and use your "resource harvester" to eradicate the enemy! Just an idea. Onto the video!

suggestion, you could make a flyer with a minigun on the bottom, and the shells would have gravatron rams to push enemies away or underwater, not really for this campaign but its a thought

Continuous red laser buggy with a low-damage long range attack? Reminds me a bit of the Nod Beam Cannon from C&C 3 in function, even though it doesn't look similar. And they had a cool mechanic where they could combine the beams to increase the power significantly, so perhaps lore-wise this was intended to combine beams the same way.

For you next vehicle, you should just bring back the bloodfang from the neter campaign. I think it is under the volume limit.(I may be thinking of it's cost) and it would be very easy to add a backstory as to why it is there
