I've been following the band for so many years. Hehe. The main reason why we (the fans) like Queso is because of the guy's vocals, especially his screams. After all, we Filipinos pride ourselves for having excellent singers. Sound-wise, they are unique and experimental. Their music came out first between the late 1990s or early 2000's. So they sound nu-metal(ish) and reminds you of Linkin Park. Hence, the DJ.

Oh man, Katchatore will be hard to listen to if you've just heard the band for a few times. Off beat, all over the place nevermind the lyrics being a little bit cryptic. But IMO, Katchatore was the surprise of the bunch, they seldomly play that live, so yeah, it was definitely a treat. 🤘

Thank u Sir For Your Honest Opinion On This Live Performance of Queso. After '99, they switch their style to a new genre, they experimented a new Rock-sound. They put a little melody on their music. Honestly didn't like it that much, I still like their first album CHEESE. But if you listen, and known this Filipino band the same music like another Filipino bands like Greyhoundz & Slapshock. You will love them, bcoz they were the first Three Popular Rap Metal Band in the Philippines. They were known as Cheese,in the late 90's. Please I recommend you to give another shot to their tracks "Guido" & "Steve", Also try the band Sandwich, and make a comment on their track Butterfly Carnival. And Glitch "Shiver". Sounded like POD, Korn or Slipknot.

Queso is more than a band in the Philippines, it has a cult following, it has a large community in PH, they are calles "mga daga" or "the rats" in english. they are one of the Pinoy Nu Metal pioneers, they are legendary on thier live performances, it is guaranteed to have moshpits when they perform

I can't believe the first critique is of Tuts Calinawan the bassist. His bass is custom-made by D&D, a guitar company found only in the Philippines. It's right handed fr. Also your band impressions are so inaccurate. LOL! (Had a good laugh there though) They don't talk like big heads. It's like their fame in the Philippines is not in their heads. They are more of a prankster, they laugh a lot and they drink with their fans. If they argued like that, Queso would not still be here. They like to have fun despite the angry music and the deep messages in their songs. It's why fans are drawn to them. For twenty years, this band survived all the drama in the music business and still making us pumped up in their live shows. Ian (the vocalist) like to do front flips on stage and landing on his back which is a big ouch but he loves to do it all the time aside from the frequent stage dives that he does too. Queso is one of the pioneers to revolutionize Filipino music. And if their sound is subpar to foreigners' ears, it's because they weren't there when it all began.

IMO, the reason why Queso has a huge fan base here in the Philippines, is when they came out in the early 90's nobody sounded like them. They were able to ride that nu metal wave that Korn and the other bands from that generation and use that to carry until today. The band also has a great connection with their fans whom they lovingly refer to as "daga" or rats, in reference to them being cheese. I also listen to their music because I'm a huge nu metal follower even if the genre is almost extinct. Nu metal has greatly shaped or at the very least influenced some of the newest bands today like SOD, Slipknot and Mudvayne. I can also understand why you guys don't like Queso's music or other bands like them because you prefer harder-edged, straight out, in your face metal. I also like that kind of music too, well some of it anyway. But all in all for me, nu metal simply brings me back back when I was still in my 20's - young, stupid, and full of angst.
