Man this just made me so Nostalgic. I used to watch Ty when he played for the PG Cougars in his whl days. We had a pretty good run when he played for us

Great Video, recently moved from the Comox Valley and played on a beer league team with Ty's dad, Tony. We coached together and became quite close over the 10+ years I lived in Ty's hometown. Spent one night listening to Tony talk about Ty's journey through hockey. We were lucky enough to have both Ty and his twin Tia come out for a skate in one of our beer league games. Ty didn't take a single stride, just C cuts and was still the fastest on the ice. He sent me a backhand sauce pass through traffic that was spinning so hard it flew off my blade like a frisbee....Even though Ty's NHL career didn't quite work out (I mean, the guy still played some games in the Show!) You can see the skill required and could tell he was a cut above us average joe's. Having been around Ty a handful of times, it was pretty cool to see how friendly and humble he is, there was no ego or chip on his shoulder....he comes from good people, so that isn't much of a surprise!

Wow just so cool to see how hockey has grown in Aus. I did a little Australian hockey tour in 2007 which included a Melbourne Ice game in the old small rink in Oakleigh with maybe max 20 people in attendance, I have to say it was terrible, and in only 17 years there is ex NHL talent playing to hundreds of people, awesome. I have been following the effort put in by people over there to grow the game and I wish we had even half the brains and work ethic of the people behind the AIHL, running hockey in here in Denmark.

Great video, Robert! What I've always wondered about the AIHL is what the salaries are like? Upon googling I get a bit of mixed answers. Is it just imports that get paid and how much are they generally making in such a league if so?
@svnn36573 ай бұрын
the league isn't classified as "pro" but semi-pro, so players will get all living expenses paid for with no extra pay, so around $20,000-$35,000
@RobertGreeley3 ай бұрын
Mainly teams will help import players with their expenses and set some up with a job at the club aside from being a player! But it’s very case by case!
