I genuinely like how he just does it quick and dirty with 1 layer of fiberglass to join parts. Other Western boat channels go on and on about how you need special layering, feathering, rolling and special techniques. This guy just gets it working, done, and in the water for some fun.

I think because theres always a "right way" of doing something in people's opinions, then there's those of us who figure out an "effective" way that pretty much accomplishes the same thing.

Cutting corners does have a price, to be paid later. If the engine is revved up even only a tiny bit, the boat rotates clockwise onto its right side, and you see water splashing in through the right door opening, which is far too low to the waterline. Rev the engine up a lot and it capsizes. If you will be able to evacuate it after, that is another story. The boat itself is far too small for this big engine. And it was even cut down in size. Given how high the engine is mounted, the center of gravity is high. With the narrow hull and the torque of the big engine, this capsizes easily. Even at the low speeds and careful accelerating you see in the video, a lot of water is on top of it, stemming from its on waves. Yes, it got quick and dirty in the water for some fun. Also, there is fun in funeral. I am really impressed with restoring the engine.

@@flybywire5866 yeah I saw it going under and all that water going in the side opening, if he didn’t straighten out and hit the gas it was going under. I’m sure he felt or saw everything happening and will design a fix for it…hopefully.

Boat looks awesome. The boat has a name, but the engine is named Big Red. I saw the engine get brought to life in the full video and that was amazing. And now watching a boat built around the engine is even more amazing. I think it's great that things considered garbage were reused and put to work again instead of going into a landfill to sit and rot. Great job.

30:02 when fixing boat steering cables, take some clear hose and fit over the end of the cable and housing, and clamp it down, fill the clear tube with marvels mystery oil, put a tire valve stem in the other end of the clear hose once full of oil and clamp it in, fill it with air pressure and it will force the oil into the line / cable and free it up.

Very cool. Yes, if your from a nation that has a ton of regulation you can point out shortcomings. But, remember that all superpower industrial nations learned exactly like this first, low cost, trial and error designs. Chris Craft yachts started as a single man carving duck decoy's. Then when he built hulls he powered them with whatever phones they could get their hands on. Fun stuff.

I am really impressed with the restoration of the engine, I would have called it scrap metal. The boat though is far too small for this big, heavy engine. The torque of the engine rotates it to its right side, even when only revved up a little bit, you see water splashing in through the right door opening. The high center of gravity isn't helping that either. I guess if you really rev the engine up fast, it will capsize.

I'm in awe at your fabrication work with that hull and body. That was some genuinely impressive skill handling the foam board shaping and fiberglassing. The motor restoration was quite impressive too, even if the top of the filter housing looked atrocious lol. That said, I think that motor choice for that hull is an odd one. Although it's cool, the top speed isn't very high, puts the center of weight quite high making the boat poorly balanced, and it's just a lot of weight for that little hull. I kinda feel like it's more suited to something like a jet boat engine and propulsion system. It would rip at some serious speed with something like that, and likely be more stable in the water as well. If you consider modifying the boat in the future, I'd also suggest not securing the frame of the hull to the motor, lol. poor hull is gonna get shaken to pieces from that. There's a reason most engine mounts use rubber bushings. shock and vibration absorption.
