​@@FromLand first i though it was intentional, if Fromland is a mental construct then the Faraway tree has connect him into some weird kind of claustrophobia manifest. No doubt Boyd is badass since we know he is a famous former operational commander. But when Boyd got scared and start banging everywhere i figured it must be production fault. My guess is that this dimension is not simply a psychic enviroment but itself is the World Tree - Yggdrasil, not just connect many dimensions together but also work as cosmos laws to keep every realms at their place, something gone wrong, barriers gone and Fromland is now the intersection between the realms, its both real & unreal ! ( The guy that almost got into fight with Ellis talk about eternal inflation too ! ) Anyways, the producers make it clear they want to tell a story about people, so even if mythology theories is right they wont show it bluntly or fall heavily on it ! Good analysis man, cant wait for Season 2 !

I hope not because if they do not know where they are going how are they going to get us there. The fact thatthe show has so many different symbolism from everywhere is concerning. Seems like they are throwing every mom & its kitchen sink at us. It makes me wonder though because when boyd feel into the stone hut where he found the talismans they just minded their own and walked away got me thinking about this theory as they could speak before the talismans but what if they needed to learn or relearn and rethink their speech, and techniques on how to lure them in which makes me wonder are they whispering to the people inside or each other as they only talk in human speech to them either before they let them inside or right before they kill you which now with brings me to the lighthouse.

At least with the Radio tower they can communicate with the entity to help them get clues to find a way home. It seems that the entity is omniscient by knowing what will happen in the future and watching the characters from afar. I predict Sara will meet with this omniscient entity and will tell the people back in the town why exactly they’re there. We know that the people in the town are there for a reason because the monsters know each of their names, it could be family tree lines that caused the people in the town to be put there in the first place because of some ancient ritual that took place in that location hundreds if not thousands of years ago.

I'd mention that 1864 as the height of the civil war which Jade seemed to have a vision of. Another note- they say they have elements from Lost, the lighthouse in lost was how jacob found candidates, perhaps the lighthouse there is how the kid finds people to bring to town to "rescue him", note it seems to be people who have had some kind of trauma or grief

Great analysis! We learn so much but it all leads to even more questions! Victor mentions the cave under that house is where the monsters sleep, previously Jasmen looked remorseful after she killed Kevin so we might be getting more answers just to who and what these creatures are next season. My guess that voice that talked to Sarah may be correct that there is a force worse than the monsters out in the woods.

There are 2 Questions that I think might be important later in the Show. Why do the Monsters used to SCREAM before the Trapped People started to use the Talismans (Before Boyd found them and brought them to The Town)? And why after, they stopped Screaming and started WHISPERING?

Definitely key questions. One of my guesses is that the talismans may have a global/passive effect on the town, and the monsters. It seems that not only they gained the ability to speak, but they’ve progressively become more human-like-as if something (maybe the talismans) is counteracting whatever curse or spell made them the way they are.

My take is that the monsters were adapting their hunting behaviour, since they couldn’t scream to intimidate pray which is safe behind the talismans they put on a more human like glamour to try and trick people into opening their doors

The 'seasons" are also interesting because although its clear people have been here for years, its unclear if the town experiences season in the conventional sense. The amount of daylight would be a significant thing which should change throughout the year, but we havent gotten the impression the town expereince winters or different weather.

in the original vampire/werewolf mythology of transylvania, the bodies of the dead evil people, or people which were expected of being evil had their organs removed. this was done to stop the wolves from eating the organs and leading their spirit to a wolf with an evil spirit in it. it was only later that the stake through the heart was done instead. the tongue was removed to stop the werewolves [i dont remember the original romanian word, but it translated to "wolf people"] from tricking the grave keepers from opening up the coffins, freeing the evil creature and spirit. in the show i think that sara is being groomed to become a new monster. its weird that she was told to kill someone in such a way, when she could have just left the door open. also how did she get away, if she killed him and left while it was already night. what did she do with the organs. she was told to kill as they do, so did that include eating the organs? she might need to be killed and revived? IDK

I decided to rewatch the first season before I start the second, with your videos and analyses in my head, because I think your thoughts are very appropriate. So on a second viewing I am more and more convinced that this place is indeed some kind of entity similar to the human psyche, which also evolves as a human personality. In addition to Jung, Freud's psychoanalytic theories are becoming more and more apparent to me (Jung was a student and collaborator of Freud) According to Freud (very simply put) the human personality consists of three parts: 1.ID 2.EGO -self 3.SUPEREGO Each of the three parts has a specific role. In everyday life, they interact to govern personality and determine behaviour. The ID is the most ancient part of the personality, it is born with us, it is driven by instincts: urges that drive us to satisfy them immediately, so the id works on the pleasure principle. I think the Colony house represents this part, because, as it was said in one of the episodes, people here prefer to live for today, to enjoy the time they have left as fully as possible. They're more informal, more free than town people. And town people, I think, represent the SUPEREGO. The superego contains the learned societal expectations, rules, moral standards to which we must adhere (a kind of guide). If we want to be part of a society we have to adapt to its rules, our needs, urges cannot be fulfilled immediately and anywhere. EGO mediates between ID and SUPEREGO. Mental health depends on the balance of these parts and on the success of reducing the tensions within and between them. When the monsters invaded Colony house and were welcomed by the town people, it seems to be an example of this. Different parts of the personality began to come into balance, a more functional personality began to emerge. I'm not a psychologist, but these parallels struck me (having watched several of your videos and starting to look at it with that kind of eye), I think this place is evolving in some way and people are representing certain parts of a personality or something.

I think it's a story, from left to right.. the boats arriving, Vikings maybe, the white F shapes representing good trees, the other shapes are stones.. then the story unfolds. It's down to us to interpret the story (until season 2 comes out) I guess. Then at the far right there are black F shapes (trees) that seem to get closer to the white hut - what was it Victor said about the trees getting closer to the town?.. what looks like a sacrifice, then the infinity symbol. I think this show is all about Rebirth.

Would love your comments on the wind. There's something definitely going on with it to the point that it's almost alive or communicating. One thing I noticed was when Jim and Tabitha are in the pit in the basement and are having a tender moment, there is the sound of the wind twice. I don't know if this happens elsewhere.

one thing that kinda bugged me, the place used as a sheriff's office was a post office. Assuming this town was an actual town at some point and these building were built for what they appear to be built for, you would think the post office would have documents that would be useful like the address of the town, some historical information that could be useful, etc. Apparently though the post office has some documents like a map of the US, theres nothing that sheds any light on the town's history? That seems odd.

The paper with the names are also in pyramid shapes. One up, one down, almost on top of each other. That's showing the underworld matching ourworld, but a mirror copy. "As above, so below." It was featured heavily in The DaVinci Code. It's showing you that they are in an otherworld, or really a liminal space. Which is a space where both worlds coexist. Fun fact, the Louvre in France is a pyramid on top of a pyramid, and it's on the Rose Line, which is showing you a line through the world that is considered liminal. Also, it's about the divine femine, which was what this season focused on. That line "I grew up in France with my grandma," another divine femine allusion.

Good observation! I think it looks like a maze, almost even like a representation of the world tree (Yggdrasil). It's interesting since Jade referred to the town as a maze at the beginning of the show.

My prediction is that fallen tree isn't in the same spot. In that, I believe that fallen tree moves around which is why they have so many people from so many different locations. Though the show didn't have a character go around and ask where they were when they ran into the fallen tree.

My theory about the monsters and their tounges, are that they are like crows. Crows have long creepy tounges. They also eat the soft spots, going for the eyes and tounge as Julie notes in an earlier episode.

Prediction for the season 2 - either in the middle or in the finale, a group of them will take the coach and try to move the fallen tree. They'll get past it and find a different road which will then lead then to an enormous lake or body of water (lake of tears). They'll find either a couple more buildings there or some sort of abandoned camp. Then they'll choose to stay there instead of reporting to the others

Get this. What if Boyd is transported into the chimney of Colony House. What if Sara gets transported back in the town and the people find her. They all hate her. Donna is going to have a democratic vote and they are going to put her in the box. At the end of episode Boyd gets out and last minute saves her from the monsters coming in to get her. He will have to enter the box because they will be surrounded. Puts the talisman up and they are safe till morning. Season 2: Episode 1 !!!

The town itself has some very 1960s elements. Apart from the colony house, there's nothing older and definitely something newer. So the town must have been built in a normal environment, monster free, and then the monsters appeared sometime during that decade when the town ceased being a normal time, with people instead getting stuck there. I wonder if the lighthouse does indeed move, signalling the events that happen in different areas. The voices of the spirits are helping to guide people to overcome the curse of the lighthouse and leave, before the lighthouse then moves somewhere else.

Ooh sansei teach me master (as i bow deeply). You took it to a level beyond even what the directors probably haven't thought of. I got a few questions for you are any of the group. 1. When it comes on they show drawings that i assume victor made have any body tried to see what the news articles was about. I dont have the program to enhance the writing but i did make out Abbyville. 2. On the ambulance is the acronym T.R.O.Y can anyone figure that out? 3. When Sarah kill Toby and opened the door for the monsters it was dark and they didnt kill her. Also she walked home in the dark. 4. Victor saw the dog with the enchanted child why was he scared when he heard barking in the tree and use gun to scare them away. Thats some of my burning questions, please anyone take a stab at them im open to any theory or help.

Thanks! I’m addressing some of these questions in my next video. As for when Sara killed Tobey, I think it was just that the curtains were down (but you can see the light coming through behind them). Regarding the barking of the dogs, I suspect it triggered a memory of the traumatic event of the first massacre when he was a still a kid.

I have a theory. What if Jade had created a virtual world for therapy purposes to deal with certain situations. Most of the characters seem to have issues of some kind. Tabitha and Jim were planning on getting divorced, Abbey and Boyd were ex military and could have had to deal with the psychological horrors of war, The priest witnessed the aftermath of a child being violently killed. I think Jade and Toby originally went into the virtual world to fix some glitches and got trapped there along with everyone else as Jade forgot why he was there. The voices giving out warnings to avoid danger are scientists back in the real world trying to get those trapped out of there. The monsters that come out at night could be symbolic of being consumed by negativity, fear and depression with the possibility of what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
