So, from a licensed hairdressers knowledge on how hair actually grows, there is nothing that you can apply to the hair externally to cause it to grow, because once hair has grown past/outside the scalp, it's considered dead. There is a tiny vein under each hair follicel inside the scalp, called the papilla, that feeds the hair and causes it to grow. If anything, a good healthy diet and vitamins are the only thing that can possibly help with hair growth, and maybe massaging your scalp😊
@sillililli0110 ай бұрын
@@ren3171 It has worked for many, including me. Perhaps it's the massage you give your scalp, with the oil of your choice, that brings blood flow to the scalp that makes the difference.

We eat bacon every week, i strain the fat and put it in the fridge. I use it for cooking but most of it goes to making soap. I use the water method for rendering it to lard and it no longer has a bacon smell. I use about 35% lard, 25% olive oil, 15% coconut oil, then 7% of castor, neem tree oil (antibiotic and antifungal properties), shea, and cocoa butter. I also add a little bentonite clay .2% (it has trace minerals and improves the glide of the soap for shaving). Was told to increase the neem oil to 25% for a medicated bar of soap for like dandruff or eczema.

I also use a recipe for hair with these 4 fats/oils - inspired by the bumblebee apothecary. I add nana mint (moroccan spear mint) and lemon balm essential oil, and also 2 TBS of ghassoul powder and 2 TBS of efficcient microorganisms to 1,5 kg of soap. I heard that some people put EM in their soap and thought I'd experiment with that too. My husband and I both love our hair soap. By the way, the castor oil also increases the foam in soaps that's why it's found in many recipes. Usually only 5%, but for shampoo bars 10% is better to create a good amount of lather. By the way, I render my tallow from fat that butchers give me for free, since fat is viewed as junk today. The easiest way is to cook the fat chunks in water and then blend them once they're soft. Afterwards one can keep them on the stove to simmer for a while so all the fat is extracted, then pour the m through a sieve. The first time, I cut 3 kgs of fat into tiny little pieces which took ages, but one can skip that step by boiling the entire cuts right from the start.

I’ve been making soap for a long time but was vegan for almost 9 years and really made meat and meat products “disgusting” in my mind. 8 years back on a regular diet I can now appreciate the animals and the benefits they can gift us. I have thick, wavy hair down to my bottom and it’s been so dry lately. So, I stopped using shampoo about 3 months ago and only use conditioner that’s high in fat but I’m still wincing at the ingredients that I don’t recognize. The recipes I have stored away to make conditioner bars all contain BTMS which is very expensive and made from highly refined and extracted ingredients. I’m definitely going to see if I can find some local tallow and give it a try, I’m hoping it’s highly conditioning and if not maybe tweaking the recipe to get it that way. Thanks for sharing and giving me the encouragement to try it out.

You all may also try washing your hair with Rhassoul clay. It leaves the scalp clean, and the hair feels soft and free of residue. It is high in silica. You make the thin clay water hair wash with as much water that it'll take to fully wet your hair and mix that water with about 2 tbsp of clay. You can adjust ingredients to your liking. Just make sure that the clay water is not clumpy it can have the consistency of something like cornstarch mixed with water to thicken a soup or stew- more on the watery side. I have curly hair and this clay water hair wash leaves my hair feeling clean and soft, and leavescmy curls very nicely defined. If your hair tends to dryness in the winter, you can rub and mix a small touch of shea butter and jojoba oil to the end of your hair. You may find that you like to alternate the clay washes between shampoos. Good luck

Instead of making a bottled moisturizer, I went straight to the ingredients. I like smashing up a banana and leaving that in for five to ten minutes before rinsing it out of my hair. Aloe Vera with a little honey and witch hazel is nice too. I have tried the mashed avocado and didn't think it had as much effect as the others. I have also rubbed straight olive oil just on the ends of my hair as well. A little will go a long way. If you find something else that you like, please share.

Fantastic and easy to follow.... I am a homesteader and have been so nervous to try soap making! It just sounds intimidating to me! But the idea of a tallow bar for my hair sounds so wonderful and lovely, I really want to try. Your video made the process look very do-able. I wonder about adding a small amount of neem oil to the bars, for my scalp. But maybe not needed, seeing as the tallow itself is so healing for the skin. Anyway, thank you for this awesome video! I have been using shampo bars for a long time, years my hair is very long and healthy. I've made soap many times too but I have never tried making my own shampoo bars, the recipes I've seen in the past call for so many ingredients that I don't want to use or would be hard to find. I love this simple basic recipe, the soap I have made in the past using tallow lasts a long time too so I think these 8 bars will allow me to give plenty away. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

The Wife (capital T, capital W) and I were on the North Shore of Oahu about 10 years ago. Took a trip to the North Shore Soap Factory in Waialua. That visit stuck in my mind and shortly after getting home I started wondering what it would take to make my own soap. Turns out there is a soap supply company a few miles away in Chandler AZ, run by wonderful people. Been making my own soap for years now and couldn't imagine not using it. Your list of oils is what I use for my standard recipe but my ratios are a little different. A relative asked about a shampoo bar so if you don't mind, I'll try to match your ratios to fit my mold. Thanks and take care of that little cutie in the back-pack.

I, too, experimented with many natural shampoos. None of them worked for me. One was disastrous in that it made my scalp bleed! My scalp took weeks to heal. I tried making homemade shampoos, and they were better than the purchased ones, but still not quite satisfactory. Eventually I settled on rhassoul clay. I simply mix it with water (with an immersion blender) and keep it in my fridge in a condiment bottle with a screw nozzle. I love how clean it gets my hair and how it soothes my scalp, which tends to be sensitive. I create a conditioner that is 2 tablespoons of lemon juice mixed with 12 oz water. A comb glides through my hair once I've applied this lemon rinse.

Buying everything from a store takes all the tradition out of the process. I prefer the way my grandmother showed me, including how she made the lye from scratch. She didn't have digital scales, thermometers, or food-grade buckets, and growing your own mint or rosemary... She even kept the feathers from the chickens she bought and slaughtered to make pillows for us, until somebody invented cheap foam bits in bags.

You can do this recipe no kill. You can substitute vegetable shortening for the beef tallow or lard and you get a pure bar that floats. On its own with just the vegetable fat and lye it will leave a noticeable soap film behind but if you add some coconut you get a nice tight leather that rinses clean like a bar of Dove.

Did you know that lye was originally made from wood ash. You would need a very clean fire hearth and very pure and good wood. But, then the ash is put in water and the alkaline lye is created. Good wood must have all kinds of mineral and trace element properties that are good for hair and scalp too? This wood ash solution would work with pig fat too. But, thank you for teaching us that beef fat is so good because previously I had only heard of pig fat and lye for making lovely soap for hair and body.

I already make my own soap. Just as a little tip, I keep track of the temperature of the lye water(we also mix it outside!) And the temperature of the melted oils (for my present recipe) and your lovely tallow and oils. When they both are about 120° then I pour in the lye water slowly, not splashing, and mix it with the immersion blender. I have been doing this for over seven years and what it does is helps the soap saponify much quicker. I'm older and it's easier for me. Then I pour it all into silicone soap molds, not the bar mold. But I find most people use your mold. It's just a preference for my husband and myself. I will definitely try your recipe as my own soap is too heavy for hair washing. Live the addition of Castor Oil. I use the exact same Castor Oil on my face and body (even though it is quite sticky) a few times per week. I stay in the bathroom to let it dry a little and absorb into the skin. As I am older, the baking soda for my hair is too caustic on my skin. I do use a small amount of baking soda added to my washing, but too much makes both my husband's and my own skin get itchy. Everyone has to figure this out for themselves. Thank you so much for your lively recipe and video! Will be watching more from you😂❤

@sarahstrahm30722 ай бұрын
A couple of things. You don't need to put you liquid oils on the stove with the rest of the oils. If you melt the solid oils first and then add in your liquid oils, it helps cool down the oils faster too. You can also use ice cubes with the lye and the lye solution won't get as hot either. (I do this with my goat milk when I make goat milk soap) Also, if you add a little apple cider vinegar in the bar, it helps the soap to rinse better. BUT, it will bring the soap to trace MUCH faster, so it has to be done right before you put it in the molds and just stir in with your spoon, not the stick blender. One last thing: the Pyrex measuring cups you are using have tested positive for lead (the red paint part). I enjoyed your video!

I didn't go through all of the comments, so forgive me if this has been said. Make a point to have vinegar nearby when handling lye. Even a small grain of lye landing on your skin can be uncomfortable. If this happens, just flood your skin with the vinegar. It neutralizes the base and stops the burning. Also, I like to use the half gallon or quart wide mouth mason jars for mixing lye. The smaller mouth restricts the fumes rather than using a bucket. Mason jars are made to withstand heat, so ( unless you have a chip or defect on the jar) it will not shatter with the heat. Large silicone grilling gloves are also a must to protect your hands when pouring the lye into the kettle of fat.

I believe the vinegar is a myth but might be wrong. Just rinsing with water alone will stop the burning. Also, I Believe lye can etch glass and could break it down over time creating a dangerous situation. You never can tell if glass has a weak point, much safer with high heat plastic.

So lye is sodium hydroxide. It can be quite caustic depending on its concentration, and if you get any on your skin, unlike acid, you won’t feel it for a while and by then it’s soaked in a bit. So be careful using it. It’s also slimy and a bit hard to wash off, so wash it very well. Definitely wear goggles! I used to work with it and various other dangerous chemicals for many years.
