The exemption for charities in the disability act is to allow targeted organizations to offer services to targeted groups. A cancer charity can offer accommodation to cancer sufferers exclusively, for example.

The sheer stupidity of the Property Manager that they think a drug dealer (for 'illicit drugs' - like Heroin, Cocaine etc..) applies branding, packaging & labeling for illicit\illegal drugs. Maybe they also think that dealers first submit illicit drugs to the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) for approval & labeling before selling illegal drugs?? If the tenant can, i would suggest they contact the property owner to warn them of the stupidity with this new Estate Agent managing the property - because if they don't know the difference between illegal & legal drugs, then they also probably don't know simple things like the difference between commercial & residential leases. *** (I once had a property manager who didn't know the difference between commercial & residential leasing & tried to claim my residential lease was subject to the laws egulations of commercial leases for office space)

Thank you so much. You are the only outlet that consistently digs in the weeds surrounding the cost and security of housing. The colluding of landlords/real estate agents/vendors/lenders consumes 30-50 percent of wage/ salary earners’ incomes for an often substandard product. Way to eat the future!

That rules me out of renting then. Love to see what other prescription medicine they deem offensive. Would hate to be someone going through cancer treatment. I’d also like to raise a violation of quiet enjoyment of the property too. The agent is there to make sure that there is no damage to the property and find any maintenance issues that the tenant may have missed. Not photograph tenants medicine cabinets.

Every place I rented from an estate agent would inspect like this. They would send crony women in to nitpick at the placement of furniture, there being fresh produce out on the bench or god forbid, soap suds lining the sink after a light dish wash. I remember one specific woman critiquing that she smelled urine in the bathroom, she accused me of urinating on the walls. Thing is I have a medical condition that makes me sit instead and I actually had a certificate in the house at that time, she was rather embarassed but looked even harder for things to trip me on. This is the norm, not the exception.

The Victorian Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission will help the person with the ADHD meds in mediation prior to eviction, but your statement about the outcome if they do opt to evict the tenant is apt. There's so much available evidence about the neurochemical reactions within the ADHD brain for dexamphetamine being beneficial for those who have ADHD, which affect neurotypical individuals in a very different way. It didn't work for me sadly, and my GP woudlnt try me on anything else. I feel sorry for the tenant who is going through this, I hope that they have a good support system around them, what an unnecessary confrontation to have over something that has likely taken them years to get diagnosed, get treatment, find the right medication that works for them & start stabilizing their life only to have the landlord come in and attempt to destabilize everything for no good reason!

I watch your videos and am simultaneously so angry about the stories you tell but also so much in agreement with the observations you make. The power-tripping audacity of that real estate agent! They're there to check for damage or maintenance issues, not go through people's cupboards and take inventory of the medications they need to function. But aside from that, it's obvious that she doesn't actually know what the word 'illicit' means. Doesn't surprise me that the government is only providing money to crackdown on dodgy behaviour in house sales and not rentals. After all, we all know that if we don't want to deal with the issues associated with renting, we should just buy a house instead.

Nothing worse than finding the price guide is out of date and the real estate agent still says the statement of information is valid because it shows the house as more valuable. ..Statement of Information is only valid for 6 months.
