I never thought of just baking them either, but we had a big roasted pan of okra at my mother in law's and it was great...CG's family harvests quite a lot of okra every year, so they have to deal with it quickly or freeze it...many of CG's relatives live out in the country and they've all got stand alone freezers in addition to refrigerators

Great video. I know this is awesome. I love to toss okra in olive oil or avocado oil, salt and pepper and then throw it on a nice hot charcoal grill and grill it until it chars slightly. Man oh man is it good. The charcoal adds some wonderful flavor.

Thanks Buck, always on the look out for another Okra recipe...most recipes out there for okra is gumbos and I look for something different. Love okra as a gardener it is pest free and very productive, you have to check it almost every day because it grows so fast it can become tough if not picked regularly. I like roasting because it caramelizes the 'okra ooze' into something more palatable. I usually make a succotash like blend in a shallow enameled brazier with okra, Lima beans, onions, corn, smoked sausage and potatoes, I cube the potatoes first about an inch or so coat with oil and roast separately while I prepare the other ingredients. if you keep an eye on the okra and vegetable blend toward the end of roasting you can achieve a 'semi-caramelized' result but be careful not to over do it as it will burn. I add the roasted potatoes then serve.

sounds tasty! CG's relatives in Georgia end up having a mini-job every year trying to stay ahead of keeping the okra cut. One of my favorite ways to cook okra is this Indian curry dish kzbin.info/www/bejne/rWbce3-Aa92sg5I

I used to feel like that, I think....I remember my mom cooking okra when I was a kid and it always seemed like a weird food to me--but very tasty!...because my mom always sliced and breaded okra and then fried it in oil, which is a very popular preparation in the southern US, but most foods taste good when fried...I think I became less intimidated with okra when I realized that it can be eaten raw.

Chef Buck So I tried it in the air fryer. I’m going to have to do something different because it didn’t get crispy- it got chewy, and some of them split open. I guess I could have cooked it longer but I didn’t want it to get any more brown so I took it out. The flavor was really good, just chewy instead of crispy. I’m going to have to figure this one out- it’s okra season! 😋

Bough a bag of crispy crunchy okra from Trader's Joe. Omg 😵. TJ's fan were raving about them. It only had 3 ingredients: okra, salt and rice bran oil. Couldn't finish it because the type of oil completely ruined them. I had okra in the past we order fried catfish with 2 side. I always wanted some green okra. I enjoyed them. Depend how it's cook.
