Hello Edgar, the end time is 1e-03 seconds, and the velocity i have chosen is 120 m/second, hope this will help you, Thanks

End time means, the time at which the car has to hit the wall

why my analysis takes about 100 hrs with same no. of nodes while other youtubers takes not more than 15 minutes..?? any ideas of how to reduce time. I used a chassis made with all weldments in solidworks.

Hi, impact time is depend on the speed of a car, measure the distance between the wall and car, calculate the impact time by speed is equal to distance/ time

Hi Ramsagar, i have created this car model with approximate dimensions using Pro/E Wildfire, you can also do with ANSYS Spaceclaim, it need some practice, i suggest you to model this car in anyone solid modelling software and export it as iges or step format, Thank you

Good day sir! How can I model the impact between two objects? I am trying to model a hammer head hitting a metal bar, and I would like to put rotational movement to the hammer head, and I would like to see the stresses on the metal bar. (I don't know if I have to use transient structural, rigid dynamics, or explicit dynamics in Ansys Workbench) I would really appreciate the help you may bring me

Ernesto Reynoso Good Day Sir, For your information, if you want to do the impact analysis, then you need to model the components and do the explicit dynamics analysis, because the impacting time will be in terms of milli seconds, after impact you have to allow the two components (metal bar, hammer) to settle down, i mean allow the components to come into equilibrium, so that you can capture the exact stresses, Allowing hammer head to rotate, will take time to solve but i cant able to understand why do you want to give rotational motion to head when it is simply constrained in real case, hope this reply helps to catch some points Thanks

Thank you very much! I would like to rotate the hammer because I am designing a machine with a rotating metal piece, and that piece hits another metal piece like a hammer. But then I think the impact modelling can be done with a traslational movement and had almost the same stress results, is that right?

Yes, Please make sure that you have given the rotational velocity as the input, and make the metal piece and hammer very close, so that you will get almost the same stresses, Thanks

Thank you sir for your reply. I am doing M.Tech. Please give me details of car crash analysis, which element is used for this then convergence study for meshing. All the details will be needed please help me. Can only bumper will design or whole car body will design please tell. Give Applications also.

Hi, Shell higher order element have been used, in my analysis i have dropped the mid side nodes because it took more time to converge, here you can obtain the convergence by setting the time step as very minimum but it will take some hours to solve completely, Bumper alone can be modeled with the whole car body mass can be specified at the center of the car and then which can be connected through RBE command
