Last summer I started trying to transform the landscaping in our front yard. We started with smaller mulch beds and then increased the size of it! Let me know what you guys think!

From a DIY/Homeowners perspective this is one of the BEST mulch beds I've seen done!! FANTASTIC clean edges (make sure your maintain them LOL), nice flowing curves, the down spout drain & overall appearance. Give you a 2 thumbs up!!! If going to continue to mulch every year & update more beds, invest in a pitch fork & a small faced landscaping rake. The pitchfork makes it much easier to apply the mulch & then starting at the furthest point upside down rake out the mulch leveling it all off & eliminating any foot prints. From a visual aspect look at getting some boulders & or moss stone. Landscape yards have 'one man boulders" pretty easy to manage & handle. They'll add a ton of depth into the mulch beds. Hoping all is well, Dirty Jersey out!!!! P.S. let me know if you're interested in some shrub/plant suggestions to add color to the landscape. Would be my pleasure.

I appreciate that soo much! I’ll definitely be reaching out for help because I been trying to figure this all out alone and with the endless supply of options it gets a little overwhelming and a lot of “hope this works out” lol.

Great job! Looks amazing. I like the alternating of the day lilies and hostas. I might try that. Wanted to bring to your attention that I discovered evergreen day lilies. Yes, they rebloom and stay green. They don't dye back each year. Of course they cost about $20 each, but much better. Then after 3-4 years, divide them!

Thank you!! I’ll definitely check it out because I do love how tough day lilies are!! I didn’t even know that was an option. Thank you!

@@LetsDoThisDIY I just happened to find it by watching video one year from Jim Putman. Had to order online because our local nurseries did not carry them.

Not sure if I’m too late but your hibiscus will come back and give you a show they just a little slow to wake up. Leave ‘em be if you can take it because they are quite beautiful when they finally wake up.

You have to cut hibiscus down to an inch above ground, they grow new every year. Hibiscus is very late to break dormancy. They will break dormancy in late June and you should see flowers in August. Know what you are planting and the habits of the plant BEFORE you buy and plant!

Lol I thought it was as easy as picking things and trying to keep them a live. I found out after a year that it’s more than that. Even when it comes down to deciding what to plant together, soil drainage, what’s are prone to Japanese Beatles, etc. But I am slowly figuring it out and starting to really enjoy the process of not just planting things for curb appeal but also learning the different habits of it all. Learning little by little!
