This was a super exciting one to do with my dad! I have been waiting patiently to show him Kanye. Thus far, I have primed him with earlier hip-hop acts like Tupac, Biggie, DMX, Slick Rick, The Fugees, in order to get him ready for this moment. Kanye is possibly my favourite popular artist of all time, so I cannot wait to show him Kanye's other albums.

Back in 2004 this was the most groundbreaking thing I ever heard. Dr. Dre used to be considered the best producer at the time, but Kanye West's new sound really gave him some competition
@seankiesling2054

Yes... extremely groundbreaking. And, in 2004 I was with the one and only girl I've ever loved who unfortunately miscarriaged our child and this album was not only the hottest thing out at that very moment in my life we would take car rides listening to this album. So, on top of it being innovative and groundbreaking it holds a ton of sentimental value to someone like me. So many memories attached to this album for me and hearing it all over again is SO nostalgic its almost spooky and almost a little overwhelmingly nostalgic/sentimental. This album is just simply a master piece

When your dad said "I've never heard anything like this before" with tears in his eyes" my heart nearly burst. That's exactly how I felt as a kid in Chicago listening to Kanye on the train platform - this album is a masterpiece. Heavy and joyous transcends genres and time. Couple fun facts Twista, also from Chicago is so fast he actually held the Guinness Word Record for most words in a minute for a time. Kanye actually recorded “Through The Wire” with his jaw wired shut. That’s why he says “I drink a Boost for breakfast and an Ensure for dessert, somebody ordered pancakes I just dipped the syzurp” (also a reference to rappers back then would mix cough syrup with sprite or Mountain Dew). Also “When it All Falls Down” originally sampled Lauren Hill and Lauren wouldn’t clear the sample, so they couldn’t use it, that’s why he says at the end of it “Selena you just like a safe belt, you saved my life” because she came in at the very last minute to sing that part and get it on the album.

Yes I did! I think I left a bit of discussion in the video before the song started, and my dad referred to it in the discussion afterwords. Thanks for mentioning it though in case I forgot, a very very important fact in Kanye’s life

Hey guys I really really love the relationship you and your father have. Me and my dad didn’t have the greatest relationship most of my adult life we both work in a family business together which was stressful and tough. He had a heart attack and it changed his life and way of thinking overnight and our relationship now reminds me a lot of you and your dad. Your dad is amazing brother. Thanks for all the great content guys !! Have to admit I have shed a few tears watching your dad on certain songs

I had a similar relationship with my Dad before he sadly passed away in 2014. I miss him so much that sometimes it still hurts to this day. We didn't share our love for music but rather professional wrestling. My Dad got me into it from a very young age and I still watch it today at the age of 38. I watch certain matches and I think "Dad will like that" or "What would Dad think of this?" Watching you two brings me so much joy. Keep up the great videos and cherish these moments always. Love to you both

I love your guys channel so much❤️. It not only makes me think about the music but also the relationship I wish I could have had with my dad. It’s amazing to see how you two are able to connect through music and I love your dad’s reactions. They’re so genuine and heartfelt, they make me think back to when I heard these songs & albums for the first time myself and how they made me feel.

Loving the new trend of father and son reactions to music. For some of us who don't have the relationship with our own father where we could show them our favorite music, this content is great to see. I'll be tuning in to the rest of the Kanye discography on this channel at the very least

You are one of four Father/Son of Father/Daughter channels that I watch and to see the dad so tuned in to the sons music being that this was not what he grew up listening to. It actually brings tears to my eyes watching his interactions with it. 👌🏽💯❤️

Love you both, and how your relationship bleeds through your reaction. Awesome! And Yes, “Through the wire”, was his very first single off the album. His jaw was wired shut while he was recording. Chaka’s song is called through the fire. His song is called through the wire, because he’s rapping through the wires that has his jaw shut. It’s extremely poetic. It’s symbolic of how he overcomes any obstacle to do what no one thinks he’s able to do.
