The story mode is crushed beneath the captain's boots, let's ratchet up the difficulty and play on the Endless extreme of Frostpunk 2, known as Utopia Builder: Captain Difficulty. We'll be doing our best to create a self reliant city or set of colonies while the game does its best to humble me with the maximum difficulties of cold, politics, tension and resource deficits.

"Foraged additives" actually grant more food bonuses than "chemical additives" if you're using the biowaste hothouses. There's a special event detailing how the foragers now gather shit in the frostland to fertilise the hothouse. Its a neat little hidden bonus.

Not only that, is far superior than chemical additives, because it's based on the population and not the production. So, more population = more food (or less food demand, depends how want to see it); on the other hand, chemical is the more food production you have, the more you will gain from that law. Happens the same with durable goods and mass produced good (durable is far superior than mass produce, when you have large population)

So your aware, Stewart the name and steward the title both share an entomology from clan Stuart (nowadays clan Stuart of Bute). It's actually historically correct that these sound annoyingly similar!
@Ariovisti
@Ariovisti Ай бұрын
Or rather the Scottish clan derives its name from the title, being descendants of Walter, the hereditary high steward of Scotland. The title itself is sadly Germanic/Anglo-Saxon, the ste- part coming from "stig" meaning hall or household (now otherwise only surviving in words like pigsty) and ward meaning warden or guardian, thus "guardian/manager of the household".

Frostpunk 1 definitely had a better "environment" and overall vibe compared to FP2, mainly because of the objectively better music of FP1. I still kinda tear up when hearing the soundtrack of FP1 since it brings that feeling of dread and desperation. With FP2 there's still that battle against the elements as well as the balancing act between resources, but the main theme surrounding around petty squabbling is... well, petty.
@lumivoid950

It is a sequel after all. They are taking the story they’ve built with FP1 and CONTINUING it with FP2. FP1 was about learning how to survive, FP2 is about learning how to live with the shitheads your “ancestors” tried so hard to survive with.
@are0us913

I think people who dont like fp2 because it isnt exactly like one forget the story ended while being established. The only directions the story could go would be larger scale, the evolution of the steampunk, or the thawing. The evolution happened in-between so we didnt have to play a game of upgrades. The thawing might make more sense at the end of a trilogy.

To reduce workforce requirements you can place depots near districts. Also im torn between going all in on workforce percentage or going all in on population growth. Im leaning for the latter, as population growth eventually outpaces the increased workforce percentage. For example a population of 20k with a 50% workers ratio will have 10k workers, while a population of 12k with a 60% workers ratio will have 7.2k workers. Also i think heatstamp income increases as more population comes in due to higher individual contributions so i feel like its better to maximize population growth

@@GalladeTheWarrior instead what im getting early on is a severe lack of workforce which cant be fixed by just increasing workforce percentage. Otherwise you will be stuck without workforce and you wont be able to build logistics districts

I think that population growth is a recipe for disaster, may reach a point where it is unsustainable. I go with reduce pop growth all the possible, and explore the frostland for bring in all the people that maybe is on the map. That makes far more sustainable for a deathless run, but if you don't care, you can reduce pop using abilities, and focus on pop like a dispensable resource. Just like some asiatic country with overpopulation.

This game is brilliant! although I had to come to terms with the fact that it's something completely different than FP1 and it's a completely different game, only set in the same universe. As always, the camera control gives me a brain hemorrhage. the lack of a bigger zoom is terribly irritating. In the first part, the death of one person was a tragedy, here the deaths go into the hundreds if not thousands and it doesn't hurt at all because of the scale, there's not as much immersion as in FP1 where each resident had their own personalized name and surname and I even had a life story prepared for each. A big plus in FP2 is the possibility of greater personalization of the system... I hope there are a few hidden lines and possibilities. However, I still miss something like a social sandbox, where you can experiment on a wider field of possibilities, as if the options from FP1 were combined with the LA dlc and to this we added what we have in FP2... if we also added to this the possibility of transferring your city and the basis of the social system from the first part to the second... oh, that would be something wonderful. In the first part I managed to create a city on extreme difficulty without auxiliary settlements with one (1) death which was scripted after building a "house of prayer?" instead of a hospital, I always followed the path of faith which is very intuitive (without denunciations and field kitchens) I only made guardians of faith and public penances to make something happen in the city... I stopped the game on probably the 400th day because there was nothing to do anymore... for fun I introduced a house of pleasure and duels.

I will be brutally honest, this is unfortanatly a much worse game than Frostpunk 1. Its not becouse of lack of effort or some good ideas, but the imersive power in 1 was just so much greater becouse of the design choices and micromanagment of the civilians. Each resource felt so much more valuable when you had to sweat youre way trough them, risking lives in cold weather extraction to get enough to invrest in more efficiant resource extraction (and safer). This feels a bit more like a generic city builder, that lacks the personality and feel of desperation from the first game.
