Just to correct something you said. A Christmas Story is *not* a Hallmark movie. It’s by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. A couple of big franchise they do that you have heard of are James Bond as well as Tom and Jerry.

I'm sure the flack you got over Christmas Story diminished after admitting not know A Christmas Carol. We could change that by reacting to Critic's review of one of the adaptations as one last holiday cheer before the new year. Yes, I said one of them because he's done two of them so I'll let you pick which one you wanna watch. However, be warned that one of them is a musical, so choose wisely.

The tragedy of this film is that the book it's based on is actually really good. If you told me the film got this title because Grisham refused to let it share the same name with his book (Skipping Christmas), I'd believe it!

Little thing to add some context to the Critics ending monologue on this review was there was a pretty sizable backlash against it from long-time fans of his. His last review where he did his old style (just him and the camera with a few clips) was the live-action Scooby-Doo movie. After that review he intended to end the Nostalgia Critic character and branch into other avenues, but those didn't pan out. So he kept the actors he hired on and repurposed them for the revival of the Critic where he does his current style of sketches and analysis of films. A lot of his older fans really didn't like the changes and complained alot, so they felt when he did this monologue he was targeting them specifically.

Just realized Demo Reel was also referenced in this review. After years of playing the NC he wanted to do his own thing so Doug killed off NC during one of his Channel Awesome crossover events. He created Demo Reel which had him, his brother and the person before Tamara playing as a group remaking old movies. It bombed horribly and after a while in “The Review Must Go On” he revived NC with some changes which led to the current iteration of the NC. Which is actually kinda good cause the original NC was kinda a shitty person.

Oh boy Demo Reel. So yea, there was a time where Doug retired Nostalgia Critic and tried to do something new. He made Demo Reel which was a kind of sketch comedy show, but it performed very poorly and he found he missed doing NC so after a period of a few months he went back to his old routine.
