LOL! Ya I've been hibernating most of the winter. Thanks Terry!

Beautiful. I sure hope we get a good load of snow before Old Man Winter gives up? Thanks for sharing.

I won't mind one bit if spring came early but I'm sure we'll get some form of precipitation this spring. Thanks for checking the vid out!

Amazing video! So peaceful are serene - It's what the world needs right now. Lovely song that worked beautifully for the video. The isolation of the Fire Tower still stands like a lonely guardian to it's forests. I am worried it will be a bad fire season for the Thunder Bay District locales with the early spring and such a mild winter. Hopefully we get a lot of rain that helps balance it out. It is Thunder Bay after all, so we can hope it lives up to its' name.

For sure if it doesn't rain lots this spring we'll have a bad year for fires again but not much we can do about it. Thanks for checking the video out!

Thanks Marc! Glad I managed to get the video back, would've been a painful loss otherwise.

I wouldn't want to climb that everday for my job! Especially with snow on the rungs,and cold steel to grab onto! Id imagine they stayed up there for a while at a time!
@OutdoorRobАй бұрын
They had a cabin to live in nearby, at least within a Kilometer and normally at a water source. They just did day shift in the tower, no living up there. Thanks David!

The whole area was simply magical with the snow, ice and frost on the trees that weekend.

It was very cool! Would've been really cool to climb it but way too much snow in the ladder cage. Thanks Chris!

Nice music choice and great dronery, Rob! What tonnage the ice? They sure built 'em strong!

Thanks Man! It was just light ice and snow on the tower, nothing major but it looked super cool!

Hey Rob, Happy Monday, how are you? Just a beautiful sight and great drone content/footage in capturing this hidden gem in the region. Do you know when all remaining fire towers in the area will finally be decommissioned entirely by the provincial government? Yeah I know, in this day of age, staying away from crooked politics is hard, have a nice week.
@OutdoorRob5 ай бұрын
They are all decommissioned and apparently they will all be eventually torn down by the Government. When Ford got in to power, he put a stop on the spending for tearing them down, so there's been a bit of a reprieve. I'm sure one day one's like this will be also torn down. Thanks Marc!

I've been hibernating, not a big fan of winter but I had to get out with the nice weather...back to sleep now. Thanks Robert!

Wow, That’s a beautiful, but lonely, icy look. A few of our towers, Oregon and Washington, are still active and really the only way to get a fast response time on fires, a friend of mine is a lookout during the summers. This appears to be just a watch tower, not something a lookout would live in over summer, many of our towers are lived in during fire season and rented out during the wet seasons.
@OutdoorRob5 ай бұрын
Thanks Man! Ya, these towers are only 8" octagons. Normally there would be a cabin nearby where the Fireman would live for the summer. Nothing up here is still in use and most have been torn down, so this is a little piece of history still standing...for now. No real mountains around here like there would be in Oregon and Washington.

Where was this? Climbed one by Fushimi lake in Northern Ontario in the summer! Very beautiful and serene!
@OutdoorRob5 ай бұрын
Near Kakabeka Falls. I've had the Fushimi one on my list for awhile now. Is the campground there still open for trailers? Thanks Man!
@hollywood52745 ай бұрын
Its a Provincial park with camping sites. They also have group camping areas. But I would call them before going. I climbed that tower 3 times over the years. We had to take a boat, cross a lake to a trail that lead to the tower. The last time i did it, they had cut a trail from the park, around the lake to the tower, but it was really boggy. They might have improved the trail by now. Good luck man! The view is awesome from the top.@@OutdoorRob

Thanks Man! Just was looking at the camp sites tonight, not many offered there so I'll have to book something soon. Would be canoeing over to the trail, easier than walking for me.

@@OutdoorRob Fushimi is a great little park and not very busy! I think you should be able to use the online reservation system to get a site. I think they're open fairly late into the summer, so a late summer/early fall visit might be the best (if you don't like a busy campground).

Thanks Man! Ya, this was from two weeks ago, made a trip there on the ATV's. Not much snow on the ground and warm weather.

LOL! Way too much snow in the ladder cage, would've been slipping and sliding all the way up and soaked when I got to the top. I did climb it a few days ago though, snow had melted off it. Thanks Vance!
