Just a word to all those complaining about trapping beavers. For 90% of human history people have been hunter/gatherers. Nothing you currently enjoy, the safety, the food, the long life you expect, the comfort of your daily modern life would exist without mankind learning how to hunt and trap. So pay homage to your ancestors who braved conditions like this, and much worse, to give you what you now enjoy.

Hi Catherine, great question 👍 That is very important to me. The fur and castor glands get sold at auction. I feed my family & then some with the meat. Whatever meat we don't eat gets sold for dog food. They love it. The skulls & teeth get used. The only part that goes back to the bush is the guts. The birds and minnows make use of those. Thanks for watching. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey, Big Deb, 👋 That would be a good idea. 💡 I usually just bring multiple pairs of dry gloves. I don't handle the traps with gloves on for safety reasons. So no matter what, the insides get wet eventually. I am really lucky to be able to handle the cold like that. No many people come with me out there, 🥶😆😆😆. Thanks for watching.

Hi Gene, your video didn't come up on my homepage so I have just caught up. Wow that looks miserable. Ice, Snow, Mud, Dead Vegetation, Dead Beavers, rather you than me. At least when the snow is covering everything there is an aesthetic quality to the landscape. Congrats on trapping the beavers, I'm surprised they come back though. You would have thought they would figure out not to go near the area after a few had been killed. What's that liquid(?) I saw you using?

Hello Excession, 👋 I love this misery, lol. 💪 I am very happy to go through the seasons. I hated winter when I was younger, but now I would miss it. Believe me, though, I can't wait until spring, lol. Thanks, they are pretty smart and do figure out the traps eventually. I was using a lure made from caster glads from other beavers. It's like another beaver came and marked its territory on these beavers' land. They are very territorial, so they come check it out.

Yea, I hear you. 🦫 poor beavers indeed. If there was a place I could drop them all off, I would. They are as bad as mice here, though. This is how it has to be done legally. I could just imagine trying to handle them live. They are so strong and quite vicious. I really would do it, though. Thanks for watching.

disgusting !! just disgusting + cruel !! Why do you kill this poor animals who only did what is their nature ? ... Why can't you catch them alive and rehome them ? There is absolutely no need to kill them !! Thank god these creatures are under conservation im my country.
@geneplumley4136
@geneplumley4136 Жыл бұрын
Hi Karlo. As ignorant as it may be, I see what you are saying. Maybe I can help you understand better. This way, you don't end up knowing what's going on without actually knowing what's going on. Maybe asking questions before being judgemental and rude would be a good start for you next time as well. I only trap these animals that are causing problems in municipal drainage systems. I get commissioned by our township to go do this and then remove the dams. This is necessary because the newly rising water levels are flooding roads, homes, and farm fields. I am just returning them back to where they were before. They can not be caught live and released elsewhere because it is illegal here. 🇨🇦 There are many reasons for this. Spreading disease from one water system to another. They are also very territorial. So, dropping them off in another beavers territory isn't going to work out well for them either. Also, these beavers are under conservation here as well, unlike what you said. I have a license and have to stick with strick quotas. I have to keep records and work with our ministry of natural resources as well. Everything from the animal gets used. The pelts go to auction, and castor glands get sold. I eat the good meat, and the rest goes to dogs. Even what is left after that gets fed back to wildlife. Anyway, if you have any respectful questions, let me know. I can talk about this stuff all day. Thanks for watching.

The reality is.... Beavers are hunted. There is a humane way of doing it and a cruel way of doing it. He chosen humane. At least he is not throwing sticks of dynamite or some other kind of explosive device into the the lodge and filming it for all to see like a lot of people do. The other reality is even though beavers are doing what comes naturally to you then that you caused a lot of damage it can be very expensive to property owners. So there has to be some kind of control where beavers are concerned. But you could tell right from the beginning said had trapped the Beavers. He pointed them out. So at that point you could have left or fast forwarded past the body count. If he doesn't use the meat I hope it's at least donated to a local zoo or something to be used to feed other. But that's his business not mine. In all honesty In all honesty how this is done correctly and how big do beavers actually are. But I wish you the best of luck. And I enjoyed reading your point of view.

@geneplumley4136
@geneplumley4136 Жыл бұрын
Hi JP, 👋 I guess I can't argue that. This is really the only legal way to do this here. All my videos take place in municipal drainage systems. Just off to the left is a highway, and the pond I am draining is actually a farm filed. I get sent to these places by our townships to get the water levels back to normal. This usually means I have to catch the beavers first. They would build it back up the same evening. Let me know if you have any questions. I hope to get a drone to better show this in the future. Thanks for watching.
