Nice video and one of the first (if not the first) to show the complete procedure including OTA update. Nevertheless for me it's not time to buy my complete equipment again. Sure if somebody is sponsored, no problem, but my Taranis X9Dplus, the R9m and all the R9mm receivers they are not even 2 years old. I don't follow FrSky's attitude "For using the new features, you have to buy everything new". And they are not really budget. I would rather like to see, how people can maintain their current gear and keep it up to date.

HI, thanks for your comment, I also have a lot of FrSky Taranis X9D+ / R9M (Firmware an maintenance) Videos on my channel - I’m still using my X9D+ with the R9M Module and the Flex Firmware - and it works pretty reliable - no one want’s you to buy new hardware 😊 You can stay with the old Hardware - only if you need the Access Protocol and OTA function you need to upgrade your hardware. And if you are owning the new FrSky Transmitters - you don’t have to worry if you don’t want to use the access protocol, all transmitters are backwards compatible. Btw: Maintenance with the X9D+ works very similar - install the latest version of opentx for your x9d+ (not 2019) radio and get the firmware from frsky for your modules and receivers.

Thank you for this video! Very helpful. I would like to ask two questions. I ordered today the r9 m 2019 with r9 mm receiver for my x9d 2019 se. I just discovered that in my order it doesn't say ota for tha 9mm receiver. Does this mean that I should order the new receiver with ota sticker or If I flash the receiver with the latest firmware it gets ota function. And the second question is that when you tried to register the receiver I saw in your taranis that you had the option to choose between fcc, lbt, 900mhz, 868mhz or access. When you choose access can't you chose between different mhz afterwords. (I am asking because although I leave in Europe I would like to keep my radio in fcc mode because some of my whoops receivers are in fcc. But for the r9 I want 868 mhz in order to avoid interferences. (I hope I managed to be clear and didn't confuse you thank you again)

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate it! Don't worry, you can also flash the non-Ota receivers with the latest access firmware, but the Ota function won't work! If you want to flash the receiver over the air, you definitely need to buy the OTA Receivers. If you download the Access Firmware, you will see that you get 3 folders, one for the fcc Firmware, one for EU and one for the flex firmware. With the flex firmware and your radio flashed with the flex option too, you will get the chooise which Frequency you would like to take on the binding process - you probably missed it, i have shown it in 11:56

Thanks for your comment! You need to update your opentx to the latest version (opentx 2.3.0rc4 at the moment) Check the flex option if you want the flex firmware, don't check it if you want the FCC Firmware, Check Eu in companion if you want the EU Firmware. This option changes the possible options you can select for your external rf. Then flash your external r9m lite to the latest fcc, eu or flex firmware corresponding to your companion setting. If you don't have an external r9 module you can't use r9 receivers with your taranis - then you need a R-series Receiver.

can I update my x9D plus? or i must buy new radio?
@TorbanDallas5 жыл бұрын
You can't use the Access Protocol with the old x9d+ for r-series receiver with the internal rf. But of course you can use the r9m 2019 with the access protocol. But I'm not sure if Ota update works.

good, you know if the new update 2.3.7 already has implemented the isrm-mode-1.lua or you have to keep putting it by hand, thanks and regards.

good I do all your steps but with the stable version opentx 2.3.2, I put at r9m this version FW-R9M2019_ACCESS_V1.1.1 (R9M2019_FLEX.frk) and at r9mini this version FW-R9MINI-R9MM-ACCESS_v1.1.2 (R9_MINI_FLEX.frk) but I do not get flash S.port only gives me the option of flash external device and when I run it, it gives me an update error, which I do wrong, I think the firmw are the same version and also tried with other firmw, I don't know what to do anymore, Regards.

Flash s.port doesn't work on a X9D+, I think it only works on a Taranis X9 Lite or Pro with the external s.port. On a X9D you need to flash external device and to connect it to your pins on the module bay. If you are using OTA Receivers with you new Taranis X9D+ 2019 or X9Lite Pro you need the OTA Firmware ( But you can also flash old non Ota Firmware to OTA Receivers) I have heard about errors on flashing OTA and registering receivers with the newer opentx versions, it was already a bug that i have even posted on github. As you can see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXrJg3p_hduJl8k Maybe that's the error you are talking about.
