im not gonna lie, melee isn't my game. too fast for my brain to play. and ultimate is starting to sour for me. and i don't know if i'll be on the hype train if there's ever a smash 6. but it warms my heart to the cold core seeing that the smash game i grew up with is still getting fresh players with big love for this game.

I feel like I can somewhat relate to your comment about Melee being too fast for the brain - I'm an RTS guy at heart so sometimes I really feel like a lost soul spectating Melee.

I guess I should state that im in a unique position for smash. i've always played it with my sister. its been our go to activity to hang out with each other. we never really left the couch co-op scene lol. PM is what held us over till smash 4 actually. Maybe i should look into it more now. But yeah ultimate is just starting to make me frustrated when i play with my sister. i honestly feel like they didn't balance characters for doubles play at all.

@@larrythehedgehog When you say doubles play, do you mean online? Ultimate online doubles is kind of a farce since there's no friendly fire. This leads to some painfully annoying strategies, as you already know. I can see that being a big turn-off.

Man seeing this makes me want to switch mains from Marth to Doc but I said this in one of the Discord servers i was in and one of them said don't main Doc because he's not good enough but I mean Doc's my second favorite character to play as outside of Marth and I know it sounds strange switching to a worse character and I like playing Doc but Idk if it's worth maining Doc? I mean I could started playing him for fun in netplay friendlies but idk if he's worth maining because no one has been placing in Top 8 with Doc since Shroomed in 2013 but I mean Franz got 9th at Mainstage so I guess it's doable?

I think the thing you'll have to ask yourself is what you want out of Melee. If you're going for results, then you'll probably want to go for a high tier. If you're looking to have fun, you're going to ask yourself what is fun for you. Is it winning? Getting better at the game? Or playing a character you enjoy? That's a question only you can answer. They're not mutually exclusive answers, but it's something to think about. Me personally I've always been an individual who seeks entertainment from the games I play, so this means playing the characters that seem fun or cool to me regardless of where they place on the tier list. If I were to consider playing Melee seriously I'd main either Ganondorf or Luigi because those characters seem fun to me. By that's something _I_ would do. You might want something else out of the game and that's completely okay!

@@Frudgey Yeah personally I'm more than happy to get Top 8 at a tournament than anyone else but the downside of playing a Higher Tier character is that the opponent is more likely to know the matchup is higher than with the lower tier characters so I'll just play Doc when I'm not in the mood for Marth
