Thank you!! I'm sitting here trying to stretch grocery money until it screams. Our rent is up 37%, gas doubled, food up and we've had health issues so in the ER and missing work. Your approach is simply brilliant and your happy attitude while at it is what I needed! God Bless you and your family!!!! Stay safe and healthy! Btw for 10cents a bar, even if I didn't like them I'd probably eat them....wow!!!

Same! Our landlord sold & our rent is about 30% higher now. Luckily it's an upgrade with a dishwasher & on site laundry so the convinces help make it feel worth it but it's definitely a struggle & KZbin recommending this channel has been a big help. I'm in NY so my prices are higher & my bakery outlet isn't as inexpensive but she's still motivating me to stretch where I can! Hope your health gets better soon. 💖

@@keeperofsecrets88 doing things like making oatmeal & grits & maybe a banana on the side for breakfast have helped me so much! I found bread at dollar general for $1 so we've been getting it right there & doing a lot of pb&js & also peanut butter & banana sandwiches which you have to try if you haven't! So yummy! I've been making a lot of rice & beans too & pasta & definitely utilize potatoes!! They're so cheap, filling & nutritious! You can make them all types of ways. Also, please reach out to food pantries in your area. Half of them don't even ask for proof of income anymore. I finally started & they give you SO MUCH STUFF I'd NEVER be able to afford. Organic meats, all kinds of expensive meats, dessert treats, subs & sandwiches from the store already made, lots of produce, breads & bagels, peanut butter, canned goods, etc. I just have to supplement with milk, butter, jelly, water, juice, coffee, etc :) it's been such a blessing!!!

I have never understood why people include the prices of the things that they already bought because you have already spent money on them in the past. Great haul of things for under $400 for sure. I think that many people don't shop this way stocking on sale items to use later but it is exactly how I shop. My husband tried to explain that to people and they didn't understand either. We have been doing a low spend for the last two months because we had plenty and we were not eating it but I used the budget to get the lowest priced items to eat for the coming months. Wondering what the coming months are going to hold and we are probably going to use the money we saved in the last few months just for the price differences.

The Quaker oatmeal squares are also my favorite cereal. And i too, wait for sales. I think sometimes people may get 'mad' about you using something you've previously purchased because this is a position of privilege to be able to stock up on sale items. It's easy to forget not everyone is able to spend $11 on bread, despite the good deal, when they only have $1.50 for bread that week. Now, their anger is misplaced because it boils down to what the video topic is. And like everything, prices vary depending on where you live. I'm in Canada and basically would never see some of the deals you do but that's not what I'm looking for when I watch your videos. Ideas, inspo, entertainment, large family life, encouragement etc etc Keep up the great work!!

Your logic on sales to stock up is good. So many budget eats videos urge people to stock up as their budget allows. It's not going to happen overnight, but even $5 extra to spend on pantry stock ups will eventually add up. The people who are against your methods need to understand that not everyone's way of stocking up is a one-size-fits all method. Thank you for your videos over the years. Please keep them coming. Re: Honeycrisp Apples - our area grows apples, and the Honeycrisp are the first trees to bloom - and a hard frost killed most of the blossoms in 2021. So we had Honeycrisp available for like the first two weeks of apple season, most damaged but normally priced, and then the prices shot through the roof. EARLY flowering apple types were affected, so that's something you might want to research to see what options you might like from later in the season.

I love these videos, some of my favorites. I belong to a lot of Facebook groups, recipe, grocery and budget groups mainly. A lot of people don't stock up. A large majority of people shop weekly, biweekly or monthly and are stuck in that thinking. I think that's where the comments about you using stock up items shouldn't count. I have a budget for grocery shopping but I also have an allowance for things I didn't plan for that are a really good deal. A vast majority say well pork is on sale but that's not in my plan for the week. Oh no, if porks not in the plan, the plan is changing or I'm using my extra $$ to put it in the freezer.

What people need to understand is that your grocery budget for a month is spent on a METHOD of food shopping that results in lower grocery cost overall and over time. It's not self-contained in a month (because that's not the most cost-effective way to grocery shop). You use what you already have in your fridge, pantry, and freezer, so you can focus your grocery budget for that month on getting the best deals possible to set you up for future months (and filling in with fresh items for the current month). It would be silly to "count" food you already own because you've already counted those foods in a previous month's budget.

Why do people get upset if you use items that were bought already for the week before or the month before? Saving on the grocery budget has to be planned and thought out. Today I will be out for a hair cut and as I am near three stores I can buy food at, I will have fun seeing what sales they may have for me. I have a little apartment freezer that has some room in it so will hopefully find treasures to fill those spots. It's a form of investment, invest now to save later. later being next week, next month, and when I spend on food next time it can have cost savings as I maybe have that investment to fill in holes. Thank you Christine for all your videos, they are enjoyable to watch and we learn a thing or two.

My household's particular challenge: $100 grocery budget per week for a family of 4. I am allergic to gluten, kids are allergic to nuts and husband and kids are picky eaters..... every week is hard. And now the prices are rising, it's even harder.

Sales tax is crazy. In FL, we don't have tax on food, unless it's hot. WE also don't have state taxes . It's crazy how every state is different. I love the Bolthouse dressing ❤

hearing you are at $168 for the first week makes me feel better about my budget. I am always frustrated that I am just over 100 for my family every week. But prices are VERY different now than they were.

If I did this challenge this month would of been sooo off because I spent $550 on my fruit and veg CSA (community sponsored agriculture) for the summer. The one I purchased is for 16 weeks of locally grown organic produce picked up weekly but you pay now when the farmer is spending their money prepping for the growing season. It seems expensive but then you realize it is 35 per box and the boxes average out to a value of 45 or more for farmers market produce.

You should pick a couple of us to represent different areas and prices like email a list of groceries and see what it cost us here. I could do Florida!!!

I wish I had a bread store and clearance store. Great deals 🤗 No one should fault you for using pantry items 🤔not understanding that? I think people meal plan first and then go to the store.....that's the mistake. Shop your pantry, shop your fridge, and then check your flyers..... only get what is on sale at the store .... combination of the three- that's how I meal plan.... whatever is on sale or clearance and what I have on hand. And like you.....if it is on sale or clearance... and is something we use a lot....get one for now and a few for later 🤗 thank you very much for sharing 😀❤️

Are you planning to add things up over the whole year and average it out? I’d be curious because of the freezer full of beef. I know it’s hard to calculate that all out. My husband thinks that instead of adding up my spending for the year, I should also factor in inventory.

I think it's great for people to include prices for ingredients that they already have. Also you can omit the prices from foods that'll left in your pantry. It's extra work for the content producer to calculate prices not for purchased items, but for the used ingredients, but it would be great service for us viewers!

I think people should probably break down the monthly cost for their very large stock ups like a whole cow but not their pantry stuff that they stayed in budget for.

We always buy meat in bulk from a butcher shop. Also, I was recently told, people don't always pickup their meat from a processor, so the price will be lower.

One of my favorite things to use Bisquick for is what I have leftover taco meat I put it in the bottom of a pie pan put some green chilies in it on it and then mix one cup of milk two eggs and two cups of Bisquick pour it over it let it bake and when it's done when the knife comes out clean and put your favorite taco seasonings or add-ons on it tomatoes lettuce sour cream all that good stuff and it's a wonderful taco pie and a good way to use up leftover taco meat

A friend always said, "You have to have money to save money." I think that's part of the complaints. Sometimes--like your emergency budget meals (the viral one) you have to go on just what you can get for the money in your hand.

My oldest is all excited that we're having macaroni and cheese pizza tonight and some fresh raw veggies to go with it. I need to use up my leftover macaroni and cheese before freezing them into large muffin tins to have single serving portions to pop out for something quick and easy to eat. Safety razors are even cheaper to have in the long run. But you also have to be comfortable with using them, and I know not everyone is.

I have tried your protein balls love them, I just bought the Kodiak protein balks from Sams Club I think I prefer yours over the Kodiak kind. Great ideas. I don't have any room other then my deep freezer. So I can't stock up much. I wish my hubby liked soups stews and chili but he doesn't. Great video.
