@@bigdog58mc it's simple : eat no carbs. Depending how far you're down the "diabetes-road, you could even pull it off by eating LESS carbs. Buy a glucose meter. Watch what your meals do to your bloodsugar. No carbs= bloodsugar will stay LOWEST. If it's still too high after meals, that means you need to go no carb or at least very low carb ( +- < 20g / day ). If not, you can be less strict...

The whole point of this study was to show an excessive high amount of fruit could worsen individuals with a specific condition. Of course when you have people trying to cash in on and promote extreme dietary agendas like these carnivore proponents do, they will use research like this to extremely claim people should never eat any fruit ever again or its not healthy for anyone, in any quantity blah blah blah. This is the same extreme militant rhetoric the vegans see when they hear words like "dietary cholesterol", ohh you better go remove all meat from your diet, its got methionine, and heavy metals and all sorts of scary sounding words that studies have found in excessive quantities may promote cancer blah blah blah. I don't know who are more terrifying the carnivores or the vegan pseudo-science promoters.

I'm still trying to lose a few more pounds but I feel so much better. My stomach doesn't bloat like it used to and now after about 3-4 months I am feeling more energetic, I've lost SEVERAL clothes sizes, and my liver enzymes are way lower! My only issue on my CBC is slight ALT elevation. I don't eat much fruit because of the sugar content. Waaaay too much sugar for keto. My main meals are hamburger patties and steak. Not very cheap but it works! I eat chicken breasts every so often but I loved BBQ sauce and that's a no go for me now so I don't enjoy it as much. Am back to jogging daily, can mow my huge paddock for 3 hours, non stop etc. Had no weight issue, but had been a glutton on fresh fruits I grew abundantly...nearly put me in the grave last year! @@Marylmac I am surprised that hard exercise only 20 mins after eating was recommended. It takes longer than that for the body to digest food, and the body needs all the energy it can get for digesting, not for exercise. I wonder if this was the reason why, as kids, we often experienced 'stitches'. Still, it must have worked for you if you can mow a paddock for 3 hours! That is some achievement. What is a shame is that you grew fruit that you can't eat. I am in a similar situation with growing fruit, and try to limit the amount I have each day whilst it is available. I have loads of strawberries, gooseberries, raspberries, and blueberries in the freezer. Because of oxalates, the only vegetables grown this year are cabbage and peas, apart from onion and garlic, which I don't have a problem with. Do hope you are better able to manage a little fruit by this time next year.

I don't have fatty liver disease and I do intermittent fasting everyday. I also love fruit and I have no intention of giving it up, but mainly eat fruits that are lower in sugar, mostly berries, but still occasionally eat fruits that are higher in sugar, like apples and grapes. I'm all about trying to maintain habits that contribute to good health, but I am not about to give up all the foods I love. Sometimes I think the pursuit of the perfect diet misses the point. Obviously, if you have a condition that would be improved by a strict diet, that's different, but if you are generally healthy and active, particularly if you do IF, I see no reason to drastically limit your fresh fruit intake. Lets use some common sense here.
@evidence-basedhealthuk5271

Generally speaking fruits/vegetables lower fatty liver in the context of a balanced diet. That doesn't mean once you have fatty liver that excessive intake of certain foods cannot aggrevate or worsen the condition There needs to be context here, of course all of this is about the carnivore/anti-plant crew trying to scare normal healthy individuals to remove all fruit from their diet. But hey go eat an excessive saturated fat fad diet which has been shown to worsen fatty liver also. Complete nonsense. Like telling people to remove all meat from their diet because its a contraindicated risk factor for individuals with kidney disease. This is the same nonsense rhetoric the vegans use and preying on people with studies like this.

I am an obese 60-year-old man diagnosed with prediabetes and a fatty liver. I decided to try out the carnivore diet to lose weight and combat these two issues. By eating 2 meals per day of 1/2 pound of 80% ground beef I have seen some weight reduction in the first month (8 pounds). If I eat anymore meat or fats in a day, I stop losing weight. Otherwise, my blood glucose and other issues seem to be improved. There is a serious flaw in the argument. All the test subjects already have fatty liver, meaning they all have too much sugar in their diets. Most fruits contain significant amount of fructose (main cause of fatty liver). And eating more fruits will further increase excess sugar in their diets. So obviously eating more fruits will make their fatty liver worse. The cause is likely not eating more fruits, but consuming excessive amount of sugar.

Less fruit and no processed sugar. He don't really say how much sugar they eat. Fruit is not considered sugar. Sugar is like juices, or those white crystals in a 5lb bag...the concentrated fruit juices. It didn't bother people too much for a lot of years they put out sugar unless there's the case where wealthy people back in the 1700's got sugar first and got super sick from it so they knew first and quit sugar first and went back to eating meat and a lot of them ate liver to feel better. People slowly got clogged organs with a lot of poisons and they suffer more from sugar now than they ever did. McDonald's etc tries to serve insane amounts of bread and sugar, then there's doughnuts, cake and ice cream. All that is much worse than fruit. but fruit is impossible if mixed with meat, or dairy. The fermentation or longer digestion time, causes fermentation and makes bad bacteria. Ice cream is really bad and yogurt with fruit is bad. Cooked fruit is bad. Bananas are bad, but fresh watery organic fruit that has vitamin C in it is good but it's really hard to digest unless eating alone and away from meat or milk or cheese so the person can load up with bad bacteria and may have to have no fruit at all for a while, just greens fixes it and not cooked greens only fresh. Then meat can be added but it don't digest with greens so again separate the eating into different meals, one with meat one with greens one with fruit. Meat or cheese even yogurt takes so long to digest, it's hours waiting until you can eat fruit again. If the yogurt bacteria is alive, which is rare these days, it digests well.

@@stuarthutt3740 agreed fruits should not be paired with anything else like a sandwich and grapes etc. or a fruit smoothie AND breakfast like no... I believe that's how most people are taught to consume fruits "with whatever" it but if you went on an all fruit diet and nothing else your body can heal a lot of ailments. Too many testimonies have proven it. But knowing when and how much fruit to consume is key because lets get real if you ate the whole bag of cherries in one sitting then that's your answer of why fruit is adding fuel to the fire theres a time and a place to eat fruits and should not be paired with other fruits and on salads with dressings and all of that or else yes the wrong pairings and too close to other meals can do more harm than good, but its not the single fruit alone by itself causing the harm. If you do a fruit smoothie make it a berry smoothie with nothing else by itself and for breakfast ONLY...or instead of a fruit smoothie do a green smoothie with leafy greens and avocado or leafy greens and ones single green apple for breakfast or as a meal replacement but not a smoothie with the whole fruit section from the grocery store or right before you eat lunch lol

Of course, I would eat 4 servings of fruit a day to try to follow the guide, including using juices as at least one of the servings. I thought I was being healthy. I've been carnivore for three months and, thankfully, have brought the horrifying inflammation I've been suffering from WAY down. No doubt that fruit was a major cause of the inflammation and God knows what is really wrong inside, which I'm hoping I fix, fingers crossed.

Nice video Doc. Wonder, did they separate a group into what fruit they ate during the trial? I used to eat dried cantaloupe and dried tangerines (bought at Publix) holy cow they were good. My triglycerides went to 900! yep 900, stopped eating those and triglycerides dropped almost 700 points in a matter of days. So I would be interested to see what types, and kinds of fruits these people ate, just curious. Love your videos. BTW

This was one of the problems with the trial. It was done in a country where dried fruit is prevalent and mostly eaten. That's a high concentration of fructose. Diet doctor certainly agrees with the evaluation but they are always cautious when making claims. I recommend watching diet doctor to see their take on the study.

Love the vlogs. Quick notes to consider: I always had excellent cholesteral and HDLs, as well as excellent LDL. After 3 years of keto, all of sudden cholesteral at 211 and LDLs high but not super high... but HDLs still very high at 75. Trigly fine, glucose fine, etc. I went to a cardiologist, never met before, for a 64 yr old baseline. Because of the parental and grandparents family history of heart disease, he viewed the lab report and without speaking with me as to my current diet, etc, (very careful about drugs, very liver conscious etc) he announces "you are laying down plaque and you need to be on a statin". Immediately, I was trying to find the door Without speaking to me, made his judgement on me, the one LDL level.....and after my echo said my heart was fine. SO, I am not going back, his last comments to me, as he scheduled another test of vast expense, "and when you come back, I will try talking you into a statin". mind you, never met this man. I have been a long decades long pure eater, due to fibromyalgia, arthritis, and other diet allergies...I watch you religiously and Dr Berg, I am no stranger to no sugar, grains, alcohol, junk food, etc...the past three months, have stopped eggs, cheese, dairy (except for nonfat greek with probiotics) and am eating more vegies, only two meals a day and I have been fasting for 16-18 hrs for over 3 years now... The bottom line while visiting my endocrinologist checkup for hypothyroid....she ordered the calcium test and i told me to stop the supplements for next 3 months as what I was taking had calcium in them...too much. My calcium will be taken in about a week. Cant wait. I will also have blood work redone. Once i get ldl under according to medical community guidelines, I can reintroduce eggs couple times a week and cheese once in a while. I am going to monitor my supplements. IT WAS MY Endo doctor who has been working with me for 15 yrs, and can look at the entire history of my labs to know it was very stupid to try putting me on a statin. It will never happen as long as I control my diet...

Excellent topic for this time of year, so a profound thank you from a T2 diabetic. However, it would be useful to know what was considered a 'fruit' for this study. Many 'vegetables', such as tomatoes, are considered vegetables but are in fact fruits and some varieties (certainly the more popular varieties) are quite sweet after ripening in a strong sun. Same with peppers and other vegetables where we eat the 'fruit' and not the leaf. Even some root veggies, like sweet potatoes, are often problematic for sugar sensitive challenges, and many people don't know the difference or the risk. Thanks for all the good information you put out there for us.

I love your work, and you have helped change my life, so I don’t want this taken the wrong way, but I am kind of surprised you picked this study. Here is the abstract: “Eighty adults with NAFLD participated in this randomized controlled trial. The participants were randomly assigned to the FRD group with consumption of at least 4 servings of fruits daily or the control group with fruits consumption of less than 2 servings/day.” That’s it. That’s all they were told. We have no idea what else they were eating or drinking. To say that fruit is the only cause for the results is wildly inaccurate (unless I missed something). As someone who is doing carnivore, I recently experimented with fruit in the mornings (per Saladino’s studies). I honestly haven’t felt better. Fruit (specifically organic berries, maybe an occasional apple or banana) feels right to me when it comes to starting my day. Sometimes it’s harder to stomach a bowl of fatty beef and eggs. Sometimes I would eat less because I would lose my appetite and would wind up hungry mid day. Eating some fruit curbed this for me. Granted everyone is different, and needs to do what’s right for them, but I think certain fruit in moderation can be good.

Many carnivores would say that if you´re not in the mood to ¨stomach a bowl of fatty beef and eggs¨, then you´re not truly hungry and are trying to force yourself to eat breakfast. Not saying this is the case with you, but it´s worth considering. As for fruit, it´s nothing like the fruit our ancestors had access to, so it can´t possibly be good for us these days with all the sugar/fructose that´s in it. To each their own, though...

I think if I showed this video they would say, but I don’t have a fatty liver!!! Of coarse in many cases it is that their doctor hasn’t diagnosed them with fatty liver!!!

I was diagnosed with fatty liver about 20 years ago. BUT I wasn't told what I could do about it. Thankfully I started low carb in October 2021 and I my blood test results are good in all areas. My ALT has gone from 45 down to 22. I will be getting a scan done at the 1 year more and I have the other scans to compare it with. I am expecting the scans to show that my fatty liver has improved, but what I am really interested in is by how much.

I just asked my doctor to check my liver enzymes. Over the past 10 years my body has been overheating with very little exertion and I know it's not hormone related. I became suspicious of fatty liver when the symptom improved with intermittent fasting.

I follow you since July 2019 when I was diagnosed with Fatty Liver due to too much fructose. Now last Friday I had my annual medical body check and liver sonogram. I reversed my fatty liver and my liver was back to normal when I had this annual body check up and liver sonogram in 2020. My doc was very happy and told me my liver looks beautiful and then asked me if I‘m still on the Carnivore diet and I said yes. Lost over 40+ kilogram and my T2D is reversed, my kidney function was 45% in 2019 before I started Carnivore in 2019 and now it is a whopping 70% with one kidney, my left kidney was removed in 2011 due to being a shrunken kidney.

@@markaguilera493 a liver can only use up aka work through 20g of fructose per day every other fructose and this includes every carbohydrates which is split into fructose and glucose in our bodies is adding up to those 20g and when one eats the mutated sweet fruits (not those sour fruits our ancestors had to deal with) in abundance one gets a fatty liver cause the liver will convert every fructose above the 20g per day into fat and store it. First storage is around the organs and then inside of the liver and the pancreas hence the diseases non-alcoholic fatty liver and fatty pancreas. Look up older videos by Ken Berry about Fatty Liver and Fatty Pancreas also Sten Ekberg has an eye opening video about Fructose and fatty liver. If what you say would be true I still would have NAFL disease and I reversed it fully. Also if what you say is true about fructose nobody could blame alcohol for causing fatty liver..

@@markaguilera493 not I my case you forget that every metabolism is working different. I had a very healthy liver before I changed my lifestyle to more fruits, veggies and grain based food like noodles and left eating meat for the weekends when I visited my parents who were huge meat eaters. It is the combination of eating food which breaks up into 50% glucose and 50% fructose, the high corn fructose and added sugar the food industry uses in their processed food, and fruits I was eating. I‘m carb intolerant so yeah this is an addition too. And yes the 20g fructose the liver can work through is true. I live in Germany and German food is pretty clean when we buy whole food and this means everything in the food is on the label in percentage even if it is under 1g. I cook everything myself so I buy my stables which are meat, sausages, pork belly to make sugar free bacon, I also make my own jerky and crisps carnivore crisp style, cheese, eggs, fish and shrimps. Lately I made egg white bread and carnivore ice cream. I use a mix of stevia and glycine to sweeten anything sweet. Yes I use dairy to make the ice cream and desserts, it is usually fermented dairy like yoghurt, sour cream, quark and cream cheese (real cream cheese not the Philadelphia cream cheese) all the dairy I use is from grass-fed cows including the heavy cream.

I just want to give a small healing testimony. Because of you and a few others that drive the carnivore lifestyle change hard, my body is healing. History: I was diagnosed with GERD (acid reflux) when I was 20 and have been on omeprizole for 25 years straight. I was also diagnosed with HCM (enlarged heart) when I was 28 and had first heart attack at age of 34. No clogged arteries and healthy otherwise. To top it off I got a severe cold/flu (COVID-19) a year ago this week and all of a sudden became sensitive/allergic to several foods I’ve eaten my entire life such as pineapple and walnuts. I’ve had sores in my mouth, nose and throat since July 2021 until about 3 weeks ago. Suffered for a year and Doctor’s could not help make them go away. I’ve been on several steroids and oral rinses time and time again. I found one of your videos about carnivore way of eating and within 10 days the sores inside my throat that drove me crazy healed, a few days later all sores on tongue and inside lips healed, 4 days after that the huge sore inside my left nostril healed. The sores that medication and expensive doctors could not touch was all healed by eating a meat only diet. My cardiologist said to stop eating only meat (I will not). I’ve stopped taking omeprizole last week and although not perfect I feel like my acid reflux is even getting better. I wanted to share this with you to say thank you.

It's easy to fall into that trap with fruit. It's fresh, but can be addicting (because of the amount of sugar in certain fruits) IE: bananas, etc. With all things, moderation, and know what you're consuming! Thanks for the video! (When I say everything in moderation, I'm not including fruits, processed sugars, Twinkies, etc. I'm referring to overeating keto safe food, when on a keto diet, and that's why I mentioned "know what you're consuming".

Most people bought into the mainstream advice that veggies are good for you. Pretty sad that people of high discipline able to force themselves to eat non enjoyable foods end up in a worse place than if they just followed their instincts. I used to eat whole grain bread because I was told it was healthier than loaf. Turns out loaf is the lesser evil....People eating all kinds of crap with the belief that it's good for them when it's not....pretty sad.

Excellent eye opener doctor and It is a great message as well. Contrary to the popular belief - that eating fruits can lower NAFLD, this proves that you need a bit of everything from fruits, vegetables, carbs and even good fat in to reverse NAFLD. The key is limiting your food intake and giving long times to digest it by the liver.
