Yes. It works perfectly for BRF cakes. I'd put some foil under the cakes so they don't soak up too much water from the incontinence pad. Waaayyyy cleaner (and cheaper) than perlite! That was actually my inspiration. I hate sweeping up perlite and digging it out of my plumbing! Use a bigger monotub if you can and the FAE will be plenty. You could do some holes with micropore tape, but I wouldn't bother at first. If the tub is big enough, no need to fan or mist. Set and forget!

Wont the damp pad ever get mold or anything and do you have to rehydrate it after a while?

I use them for about a month and I've never seen mold. I think the polyacrylate (thanks to someone? for the chemistry) must be antibiotic or at least isn't good for mold growth. I usually rehydrate them based on their feel. Maybe just once in that month. They are cheap AF, so if you're worried about mold of hydration, it's easy to replace it.
