Again, perfect video. Not just that you are experienced pilot, but the way how you do the video and commentary is absolutely perfect. Everything is professional, straight to the points and facts, no wasting time on unnecessary talks - ideal for learning. Thanks for that

Really informative dude thanks. I'm currently involved in a Heading Control Function to be introduced to the Next Generation A320 BSCS. One of the requirements is for it to be used during single-engine taxi to reduce pilot workload. It's already on the A350 and A380 though.

Hello, Can you advise me what flight stick i can use for the airbus ?? regards Bert from holland
@Avantime8 жыл бұрын
IIRC Blackbox uses a HOTAS Warthog, but if that's too expensive for you a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is good. The Logitech Attack 3 is closest in feel to the Airbus, but unlike the 3D Pro it doesn't have a HAT switch and a twist axis - very useful to assign as the steering tiller if you already have rudder pedals.
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hi Bert. There is not much else I can add to Avantime's answer. Maybe test a couple of sticks in a shop and see how they feel in regard to spring stiffness. Unfortunately the better flightsticks will cost you quite a lot of money. Regards

Tend to vary between the operators and engines. With the latest Sop revision in my company if cfm, not v2500, with after landing conplted you can shut down number one with one minute only, yellow pump on and no restriction with the apu. Strange though.
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hi. Well, different companies, different sop's. And engine development continues and new recommendations are given. That is why I always say that all tips and instructions given here are for use in the PC Simulation world only! Regards

why do we hear the PTU barking sound when the A320 starts its engines? is the PTU doing kind of a system check/auto check? Thanks for the video

Yep, the PTU is doing a test cycle

Why do you say to wait until you turn off eng. #2 before you turn on the yellow elec hyd pump?
@Blackbox711 Жыл бұрын
That is the procedure according to single engine taxi in.
@flywithtb50055 жыл бұрын
Hi Blackbox, if the taxi time is less than 3 minutes don you still have to wait before you can shut down the engines? Greetings ;)
@Blackbox7115 жыл бұрын
Hi. You need to wait 3 minutes to get a thermal stabilization of the engine core parts. In real life if you don’t wait the 3 minutes you could risk damage or even a rotor seizure.
@TheFlyingGermanmen8 жыл бұрын
Very noce video? Does that mean that you will always have to taxi at least 3 min.?
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Well, like I said, the engine should run for at least 3 minutes near idle power to let them thermally stabilize. Regards

Hi Blackbox, Why airline pilots shutdown an engine for taxi? To save fuel? Good holiday and sweet landing !!!
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hello Pierre. Thank you! Yes, fuel savings is the main motivation behind this procedure. Also engine life and break wear adds to savings. Regards

Vielen Dank! Sehr informativ!
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hi Raven. Vielen Dank! Übrigens funktioniert der Punkt NEW DEST einwandfrei. VG

Hi, thanks for your very instructive videos. If engine 1 is switched off instead of engine 2, is there any action to perform after? Thanks in advance!
@Blackbox7116 жыл бұрын
Usually engine 2 is switched off because it powers the yellow hydraulic pump. Since you have a backup electric pump for the yellow system only, it is not advisable to switch off engine 1. This would shut down the green hydraulic system which is the main hydraulic power source for the brakes. So if you do switch off engine 1 during taxi, you are left with only the yellow hydraulic system and the alternate brake system.
@TF-xv2xw6 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your quick answer. Your training videos are among the best I ever saw. Keep on like that! Could you tell me if the most A320 "piloting philisophy/procedures" apply to the other Airbus families (Axx)?

Great video, any chance you'll do a circling approach at minima? Say Busan (RKPK) LOC approach 36L circling 18R, Circling MDA (TERPS) 1040ft. You'll need to download some freeware scenery as the airport have changed quite a bit from default FSX.
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
Hi Avantime. I can try :-) I will put that request on my list since I will do a video on circling very soon. Regards
@Avantime8 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Busan is a very interesting airport as it's surrounded by high mountains, and an Air China 767 did actually crash during a circling approach there. Also some information for your reference: avherald.com/h?article=4505b59b aviation-safety.net/database/record.php?id=20020415-0
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
That makes it even more interesting!
@Avantime8 жыл бұрын
Speaking of interesting airports, have you been to Sarajevo? A raw data NDB-Y Rwy 12 circling 30 + go around seems fun. Airport elevation 1708ft, Cat C Circling MDA 5050ft. It almost feels like you're better off doing a tailwind approach (another video idea?).

Do you think with your exp whit it, its well worth the price for level D cae scenerios training, ecam actions and the like? Is the sim that good?. Never came across a good one that make me feel like the full level d. Anyway, do you think is that good?
@Blackbox7118 жыл бұрын
This sim is good, no doubt. However it is not a Level D simulator. Be aware of the fact that the FWC standard is different to the newer models. So while you can practice certain scenarios, the ECAM procedures might differ to the ones at your company. I think it is however good if you use it for real time decision making whilst flying. If you are looking for an ECAM trainer, have a look at www.usebeforeflight.com. Regards

Yeah. That is the ecam trainer im currently using. Very good indeed. Many thanks for your thoughts.

What about a one engine taxi prior to takeoff?
@Blackbox7116 жыл бұрын
It is a procedure which is not used very often in Europe. There are not that many airports with long taxi times. Also the amount of thrust needed to get a heavy A320 moving with single engine is quite excessive.
@patrickmosur78687 жыл бұрын
If its a simulator, there are no real passengers to complain.
