Where I surf we have lots of gusty wind conditions. Just love to use my slalom sails over the non-camber free rides I had before, due to the lulls. It really feels like you just get carried through the lulls where before the sails would loose their shape and you get hit a bit hard when the gust comes back and they don’t carry in the lulls. So big advantage if you ask me, for camber sails😊

My guess is that 80% of all surfers should use 2cam sails. Also 3 cam can work, but then in smaller mastsleaves like the S-Type/KA Concept.

You’re forgetting the Loft Switchblade. Great sail: very stable, high performance, lock-in and go. Though closer to a slalom sail than a 2cam sail, that’s true…

I've been digging out my old race cam sails for Windsurf foiling and they work awesome, rig them with light downhaul for low end -power and the balance remains perfect, even in the gusts, no backhand pressure, easy jibs and light on the fingers. I been using a 4 cam Ezzy 4.2 everyday for a month in Baja and rarely use the harness it sails so easy.

Twin cams are my favourite sails. Severne Turbo works for me when Iwant lots of power.

I’ve been windsurfing for more than 30 years 😂 An I have tried a lot of different sails from different brands - both no cam and 4 cams. This sail is by far my favorite ❤ I do freeracing with my friends and sons on slalomboards -and this sail is fast, light and plans ok through lulls. hi, in Seychelles we have the south east winds and averaging 15 to 25kts. i am 85kg and will buy a 110-115liter freerace. i want the ac-z 7.5 max. i use to race many many years ago and want ot get back in. i am not so fit anymore

I did go from Gaastra no cam 3.7/4.7/5.7 to cam AC-Z 5.2/6.2/7.2 this year i was in Greece for 5 months. And i had a blast with these sails! I could really feel that it was so much more stable. It was just a little adjustment. The rigging was also easy. The waterstart felt super easy just let the wind catch. The only thing that happened was the batten tips broke, because i put the sail back to harsh in to the camper and smashed the end of the batten (battentensioner side) against some wood. And i just released all the tension from the downhaul in 1 go. Lesson learned 😅.

I used to have S2 Maui Venoms but found them hard to sail. Switched to the ACZ and althought they recuire a lot of backhand pressure the feeling is great for me. I'm no pro surfer but let's face it, who is? The difference with other 2 cam sails (I used to have Cosmics also) is that the RCZ does have a strap for the part below the boom. The Cosmics didn't have that and that is quite a big difference

Nils how would this sail work for foiling ? I wish Point 7 made a foiling version of this sail. I am looking for a 2 cam foiling sail that is FAST - almost as fast as a foil race sail but much lighter & easier to handle and rig! Have you tried the Point 7 F1- E ?....would it be faster than the F1-X ? I watched your video review of that sail and I know you liked it. Looking for the fastest free-race sail in 6, 7 & 8 meter sizes

i tried the smaller sizes for foiling (speedfoiling) and they work super nice, haven't tried the bigger ones yet

I have an ACZ 7.8 with the Point 7 80% mast. It feels quite racy. Very fast.

I love the ACZ, the only negative point is that only 5.2 and 5.8 accept RDM mast for bigger sizes it's required only SMD mast that personally I don't love

The SDM works better in the bigger sizes, although you're right I love the feeling of the RDM from the samller sizes.

Would you go skiing with full downhill race skis? The truth is that people buy 4cam sail for a mental sensation of pleasure: knowing that it is the same sale that pros use gives a false sense of security but a few number of people can really use a 4cam at its full potential and moreover a 4cam is not what a windsurfer need. The truth is that race sails work the best on a race course and that’s it. They are not designed to be used for extended period of time, work best only in downwind, don’t allow to relax a bit and require full concentration. Even you Nils could have benefit from a 2 cam in your Greek journey, I think a 4cam are too much to much to be used for 3/4/5 hours straight.

If you surf on a gusty lake a 4 cam sail helps because it has a much wider range to use.

"This sail will take your sailing to the next level" Who are you kidding? I'm sorry to see a video from you that is just a shameless commercial for P7. All big brands have a sail like this. As is typical for marketing info from most of the windsurfing brands, the audience is treated as if they are totally stupid.

I made that video because I truly believe this is a great sail to have for most people and I want to show what the sail can and cannot provide, if you actually watched the video you would also see that I talk about 2 cam sails in general and use the P7 (as I have P7 sails naturally) as an example. Just came back from the water with the 2cam and was great fun, :)

I don't feel treated stupid actually. Nils is just giving his opinion and what's wrong with that? I think a lot of people that use slalomsails are better of with freerace sails (and boards) althought slalomboards have been devoping towards freerace boards taking ease of use into account. Freeracesails combined with freerace/slalomboards will be the right quiver for a lot of people in my opinion. Merry X-mass to you all!!

@@WindsurfingNils I agree that 2 cam sails are probably the best compromise for most recreational sailors for flat water, especially in the bigger sizes. I just got a bit annoyed with the phrasing of the title in combination of yet another major redesign of a sail that was perfectly fine to begin with. I feel there is too much bullshit spread by the manufacturers in our sport and not enough honest, usable and quantifiable information. Sails as well as boards. I regretted that your channel (and e.g. that of Mario) is slowly becoming an outlet for marketing, instead of independant, amateuristic content. But I also realise now that is not quite true, you also post videos that are not based on promoting stuff from a sponsor (like the Greece long distance adventure). My criticism was too harsh, sorry for that. Of course you have to give something back to your sponsors as well, I understand that. Anyway, thanks for creating windsurfing content and taking the trouble to respond.

The irony is that they’re sometimes boasting so much in senseless slogans that they have nothing relevant to say at the next installment. I remember a few years back the new version’s slalom board of a major brand was marketed as: “The best just got better”! 😂 they really take their customers for - yes, for what exactly? As for Nils, I really appreciate your contributions (was blown away by your slalom fin test, excellent work!) and I think there are few who succeed in explaining things and making vids the way he does. He is actually helping a lot of windsurfers with his advice. Great job.
