Since you are bumping up your dose by only 20% that shouldn't be any problem. Keeping an ovary would be a wise thing especially if that is not the usual place that potential cancers start. It's also a good a move if testosterone availability become problematic. With the present dystopian situation one can't be sure about such things. Good luck in making those arrangements and I hope Dr. Shiao can do the procedure.

Great video and info! as always, i enjoy your content. I just shared a video on my own experience with higher estrogen levels. good info and I live in the bay area, so i am going to check out that doctor you mentioned for when that time comes for me, too. Good luck and I look forward to more videos!

Careful with bumping up T. There's a limit to how much your body can process and if you go over, the T will be metabolized into estrogen. And after a year on T, my own results showed an increase in estradiol, prolactin, progesterone. I understand this as the body's natural reaction to try to resist T + likely some of the T gets metabolized into those, and a hysto will definitely reduce those. But tbh, unless those numbers are greatly increased and the T-induced atrophy of the inner organs isn't causing you pain and discomfort, I'd say think about it some more. But if you do decide on hysto, look into the laparoscopic version, where they go in through 3 small holes in the abdomen, and not the c-section-like version - recovery time is much quicker, and there's less risk. I hear there's a version where they go through the bottom area, but ugh.

what happens at too high levels?
@willmartin66057 жыл бұрын
Your body will convert the extra testosterone into estrogen

If you meant too high levels of estradiol, prolactin, and progesterone - all 3 control the monthly cycle, so that may come back in some form if estrogen is also high. Prolactin also affects breast tissue - it goes high in pregnant women meaning it stops ovulation but in high levels can cause lactation. Progesterone works to prepare the uterus to receive an egg and levels are high during ovulation, but high levels alone won't bring back the monthly cycle. Too high levels of estradiol, however, seems to be what you should be worried about. Going to quote www.yourhormones.info - "Too much oestradiol can have a number of effects. In mild cases, excess levels cause acne, constipation, loss of libido and depression. More severe effects can include uterine and breast cancer, infertility, weight gain, stroke and heart attack." As you can see - these hormones interact with each other and each needs to be in a certain balance with each other to actually bring ovulation and cycles back. That will always require high estrogen, which as long as your T is within range, should not be high enough. But keep in mind that I am NOT a doctor. I google a lot and put 2 and 2 together. And even then not everything can be predicted because the endocrine system is incredibly complex and needs very specific amounts of specific hormones to do certain things. In short, you may read up about all the possibilities and still be surprised when your body reacts in an unpredictable way. My advice is to get informed and also ask your endocrinologist what the hormones do and how their levels will affect you.

I had a hysterectomy many years before I started transitioning. My forward-thinking surgeon left in my ovaries as they were healthy. These days, unless there is a problem with tumors or adhesions, hysterectomies are done less invasively, through the vagina. Done by the newer methods, recovery time is far less than I had and less traumatic. Also, leaving an ovary means no sudden onset of menopause-like symptoms.

I'm a teenager currently and I have really bad acne so I'm really scared to go on T in the future because I know it'll get much worse. My dad had truly terrible acne as a teenager as well so that doesn't help either.

I've been watching you quietly. Yeah, .30 is 60mg and I'm on 75mg. I have a friend who had a hysterectomy, and his bladder fell and caused a leaky bladder and consistent pain for months. He has to wear an adult diaper. Check your options is my advice.

I watched a video from one transguy on KZbin who's free T levels actually dropped drastically after a hysterectomy to below the male range and now he has to take way more than before. Because the T produced by your ovaries can actually be boosting up your shot a lot. So you should consider that if you are hoping you can reduce the amount of foreign T you're putting into your body.

New medical teachings are encouraging doctors to not be too concerned with your actual free T levels (that 600 number) and your free E numbers (100 number) and more concerned with how you feel your own transition is going. My question to you would be before you knew what your numbers were did you ever feel dissatisfied with the results you have seen? If the answer is no than its interesting as to why you upped your dose at all. To be honest the real important number when it comes to your transition is the bioavailability. You can have a free T levels of 1400 but if your body is only absorbing 10% of it than your changes could suffer. I would say that you should listen more to your body and care less about your numbers ... Also it opens the door of toxic thinking where we start comparing ourselves to others based on some arbitrary number that is different for everyone. I love your vids man! Best of luck with your hysto
@TheSLOfox7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! (sorry I took so long to respond!) That's interesting about paying attention to one's experience rather than the numbers of the hormone levels. I can see how that makes sense.

I'd like to get a hysterectomy too some day but I haven't really looked into the effects it will have on my body. also in my country it's not easy to find someone who will do this procedure on a "young woman" -.- so this will take a while

Hi Alan, I'm a 15 year old trans guy and just started testosterone in May. I am so much happier and feel much more at peace, but I still have self doubt and get paranoid sometimes that I'm not really trans or that it's just because of mental illness/ocd (like HOCD.) How do you combat those fears, and do you think it will get better once I am on T longer?
@TheSLOfox7 жыл бұрын
Hi Everett, congrats on starting T! Yeah, I think that if T is the right choice for you, it will become more clear as you're on T for longer. That's been the case for me. I would assume that if you got approved to start T, that means that the professionals thought you were really trans, rather than wanting T due to mental illness. I've heard from professionals that it's extremely, extremely rare for people to transition due to mental illness. I wonder if you're doubting yourself too much. It's very easy to do that, in our culture that always doubts trans people. But try not to cave into that. I doubt you would have gone so far as to start T if you weren't really trans! And remember, people can always be somewhat in-between in terms of gender, too--if you aren't totally into all aspects of manhood and maleness, that is OK, and it doesn't mean you aren't trans.
