Remember, Molag Bal created vampires out of sheer spite. When he was told that his dominion over mortals would always be subservient to the inevitable fate of death itself, Molag Bal gave his creations immortality so that death couldn't steal them.

I like to think that Herma Mora's knowledge in his Black Books doesn't drive someone insane, per se. More that it lifts the veil of what that person perceives is reality and gains a higher existence of thought, understanding the world in such a way that their actions *seem* insane to the 'normal peoples' but is the true truth to how to live, think, and act. I point to Septimus Signus in Skyrim as a case-in-point. He *seems* insane but also clearly shows an uncanny intelligence in things that, while we may not be able to unravel, pulls at your mind in such a way to wonder what truth he may be speaking.

Exactly my thought. It's possible that Hermaeus Mora might reveal concepts like Chim, Mantling, and the Dream of the Godhead, all of which are true about the fabric of their reality yet would sound like pure madness to an ordinary person.

Eldritch insanity, which is obviously what his gifts bring, was best explained to me like this: Imagine an ant crawling across a motherboard, blissfully unaware, and incapable of being aware of what it moved across, just enjoying the heat it produced and perhaps the colors of the components to it's sight. Now take that ant, yank it's consciousness up to a human level, give it a single eternal moment to understand not only how small it is, but what it is that it stands upon truly is, and what a simple motherboard might be used to do, give it enough of a moment for that information to take hold, for it to truly understand it all........ and then slam it back down into the body of the ant. Back into a being physically incapable of understanding anything it just learned, but let it keep it's memories, let it remember that it did understand, although it has no way to even communicate or expose even the very smallest fraction of any of the knowledge due to its own physical limitations. That is what Eldritch gods do to people.

I'd enjoy a look into the relationships BETWEEN Daedric Princes; (perhaps even lesser daedra for that matter) which Princes dislike others, or enjoy their company and why. Or why events like what happened to Jyggalag aren't more common. do the 16 wish to avoid heavy conflict, are they simply too powerful, are they constantly on the defence waiting for an assault? Perhaps Peryite was the last to try, or even once much more powerful, and thus he has "earned" his position as touched on in the video.

We only have Jyggalag's word that he was cursed by the other 16. The likelier explanation is that Jyggalag is another facet of Sheogorath's madness in the form of paranoid megalomania; Sheo and Jyggy are Jekyll and Hyde without the other princes giving a toss.

I think, in a way, Jyggalag *IS* Madness/Insanity as well. Think about it. He's doing the same thing over and over again.

I never understood how changing the Chimer was a curse. It’s not like the other races revile them for their skin color. If anything they just became more unique and badass so it’s hardly a punishment. Plus Azura herself appears as a Dunmer in Morrowind and other places. If she thought looking like that was a punishment she would always appear as a Chimer instead. In my headcanon it makes more sense if the Dwemer looked like the Dunmer do now. So Azura went “hey the Dwemer messed with the heart too so, if you want to emulate those blasphemers, your ancient frenemies, then go ahead and look like them too you ungrateful bastards.”

I mean the nords hate them for their skin colour, and looking all fucked up like discount dremora probably helped some argonian propaganda. Dunmer already had a complex and alien culture as chimer, now they have an even more alien culture and they look like actual fucking aliens since no other race in the elder scrolls has grey skin(the argonians rarely have grey scales and they are isolationists), except maybe the rieklings but those dont exactly have a great reputation. This explains all the racism in morrowind too, if everyone hates you might as well hate everyone back.

On top of this, the White Phial is also run by an Altmer (well, at least until he dies from disease). Note that this does not mean that there aren't racism in Windhelm. But it is not as prevalent as the Dunmer of the city claims and believes. Indeed, most Nords of the city doesn't really care what race you are, as long as you are pulling your weight.

Are there any plans to continue the "Is it Worth It?" series in regards to daedric cults? I'd like to hear ya'lls thoughts on Hircine and Hermaeous Mora particularly. EDIT: if TES6 is indeed set in Elseweyr or Hammerfell, it would be interesting if they included a plot regarding the overthrow of the resident Thalmor governors. We know that Hammerfell eventually gains it's independence, but as of 4E 201 they're still under Aldmeri control, and the khajiit are firmly under Dominion jurisdiction to the point they're used as footsoldiers by them.

I prefer Nocturnal. During your time on earth you would enjoy her blessings, and once dead, you will protect her domain as a spirit. You can do whatever you want- as long as you stay within and around her temple. At the end, once you have defended the Twilight Sepulcher (and lets be honest with that amount of Bandits in Skyrim there is gonna be some idiot who tries looting the ruins), you will have fulfilled your end of the bargain and be able to enter her realm of Oblivion. "Walk with the shadows" You are the one who guides your friend's hand during a battle to victory, you influence the luck around your loved ones and their ancestors, from a guard conveniently looking away if a kid decides to steal some food to a master lock opening like it's nothing.

Would be interesting to speculate the Et'Ada who'd participate on both sides of the next Dawn War between the Et'Ada. The ultimate battle of Gods and Mortals, fighting over the very nature of the Aurbis itself, encompassing the existence of the Mundus. Here's another pretty interesting thing to note; Lorkhan has quite a few Daedric allies, further placing into his darker affiliation. If another Dawn War started, the only Daedric Prince's I'd expect to possibly join Auriel would be Malacath and Meridia, who are of course Elven Aedra at heart. Maybe Jyggalag as well, a more Orderly diety is who he'd likely chose over the more chaotic Lorkhan. Mehrunes Dagon as an ally to help destroy Mundus would also be nice to see as well, for he's attempted it once before... and he's the descendant of Magnus and the Magne Ge so, he has Elven ties as well.
@badluck5647
@badluck5647 2 жыл бұрын
Malacath wouldn't join the Aedra who stabbed him in the back for "losing his purity". I do like the Order of Walking Flame's belief that Dagon is the agent of the Magna Ge to undo Magnus' flawed creation. It is more believable than him being a agent of Hope.
@thalmoragent9344
@thalmoragent9344 2 жыл бұрын
@@badluck5647 I wouldn't say they "stabbed him the back", that was actually Mephala, if we're talking specifics. And considering he was tossed and banished by Boethia to a Realm of Oblivion, I don't see why he wouldn't be open to joining his old friend and king Auriel to once again combat Lorkhan and his forces, just like they did in the Dawn times. But of course, yeah I suppose on how one makes distinctions. Although, Dagon being a "catalyst for hope" still does fit in a way, as his purpose to undo failed creations could've been seen as a hopeful endeavor by the Magne Ge, but I saw where you're coming from as well. Or maybe, as Drew mentioned one time, he was able to have Hope as a Virtue since he may have been made in part to help the slaves of the Dreugh Kings, assuming Lyg was a part of an early Mundus project. Either way, yeah Dagon joining Auriel's side makes sense, but I wish to also speculate on other Et'Ada, if you don't mind. Any list you could have in your head? We don't have to include all Et'Ada, but the more the merrier. Some like Molag may just join the side he thinks will win, I feel that's his sort of mindset, and others would have their own plans for the winners, like Sheogorath, so, not all would be involved of course
@oghaze9318
@oghaze9318 2 жыл бұрын
Although the dawn war would be cool to explore I think Mehrunes Dagon wouldn't be an ally to either, he was created to make the concept of Time a cyclical force, as well as everything in Mundus (i.e : inertia, momentum, seasons, etc.) It also seems that Auriel and Lorkhan are no longer enemies because of Alessia and the Makhurati. (Akatosh is the union of the two)

@@thalmoragent9344 I don't see Trinimac/Malacath in the current Altmer pantheon. The snooty High Elves shunned Trinimac and his followers. Malacath isn't friends to non-Orc elves. At least, the Reachmen (followers of Lorkh) consider Malacath an ally.
@thalmoragent9344
@thalmoragent9344 2 жыл бұрын
@@badluck5647 The Reachmen don't see Malacath the same way most other races do, and in fact, often don't see Orcs as his own people, just a race he sends to "test them". There are more religions, like even with the Khajit and Nords, that place Malacath into the role of what Trinimac also represents, so... And while it's a shame Malacath isn't showcased with the Aldmeri, it's because to them, Trinimac's demise was the end to that now tragic Warrior, and since Trinimac/Malacath was banished to Oblivion, he technically no longer resides alongside his Aedric kin in Aetherius. And since Trinimac's Sphere (while mostly the same at its core) was altered once he became Malacath, you could argue that would be something "traditional" the Altmer would see as altered and therefore not the same. They see he's resided with his Orcs and a new way of life that most Orcs live, not quite like their Aldmeri ancestors. Still, if the War of the Dawn as we know it were to have a Round 2, he wouldn't ally with Lorkhan and his allies (and Malacath has inherited the enemies of his previous self, Trinimac, since hes technically just the same being). And some Orcs still worship Trinimac's old Sphere instead of Malacath's newer

This video has me thinking about the way the Dark Elves have split some of the Daedra into Good and Bad Daedra (I don't remember the name that each side has). What if you did a video that went through and theorized what side every other Daedric Prince would be on. I think Meridia and Nocturnal would probably be Good Daedra. Namira and Sanguine would probably be Bad Daedra. Vaermina and Peryite would also probably be Bad Daedra. I would actually say Hermaeus Mora would probably be considered Good oddly enough. I'm not sure about Hircine, Clavicus Vile, and Jyggalag. I want to put Jyggalag opposite of Sheogorath, but that doesn't seem right either. Hircine would probably be Good, but I'm not sure. Vain though she may be, Azura does exhibit a fondness for her followers and even mortals in general, if the book Doors of Oblivion is taken at face value. She has an audience with Zenas and is amused by his tale of wandering Oblivion.

You guys should do a Punisher vigilante, deceptive, methodical type of build for Fallout 4 next that goes to war with the raiders, institute and brotherhood and uses his position as general of the minutemen to have them do his bidding. That would be dope in my opinion.

In my elder scrolls universe lore t’theriis, a smaller pocket plane well hidden in oblivion thats as lush and green as it is spontaneously deadly with roaming ghost frost winds (invisible frost that doesnt harm the regions natural greenery) and odd warped glimmers (sentient fabrics of time). The dwemer created this plane with the magics and sorceries they toiled with leading up to their disappearance but a trace of them is still yet to be found.

I think not many people fathom how dangerous Sanguine can be, and it is precisely the way he wants it. Who doesn't want to have a lil good time, a little bit of food and drink, and merrymaking? _Until you realize your health is declining due to obesity, being an alcoholic and a deranged pervert?_ His sphere is also that of addiction and the ruination it can cause on people who just want to keep chasing the dragon, up the notch a little bit, add one more fked up kink to their repertoire. All of the princes are IMO the representation one of the 8 virtues and 8 sins that can ruin one, if one follows either without balance. Which is why I think how the princes managed to ruin Jyggalag and made him go bad before the split: _They made him realize his power is based on the order _*_they_*_ already have created by existing, and that he was both the most powerful,_ and the most useless of them. How to solve it, for the moment he strikes one of the biggest 16, his power would be weakened, but if he doesn't, their collective negation of his self-declared purpose also renders him powerless.... no wonder he went mad until you bonk him in the head hard enough, after he asked you to do it, BioShock style. That's why he's not around Mundus and won't be any time soon: He's taking a stroll thru Oblivion, thinking about the problem that led him to go mad. And for someone that loves to think, _that might as well be until the end of time._

While watching the Clavicus Vile section of the video I had a thought that I just sort of realized feels obvious but in the video it's basically summed up that Clavicus has Barbus because Clavicus's nature as a Daedric prince is very social and while I think that plays into the existence of Barbus I think he probably represents domestication, which is in a way a sort of deal between human and animal. The animal, in this case a dog, helps hunt, provide companionship and helps with other chores, like sledding, herding and all of that sort of stuff and in return humans provide food, shelter, warmth and return that feeling of companionship but that deal isn't a one and done deal like many of Clavicus Vile's many other deals. It's a deal that lasts a lifetime, at least an animal's lifetime, and for a human it could last generations either through the previous animal's children or by getting another animal somewhere else. Domestication doesn't just stop, it keeps going. So as the best symbol of domestication, a dog, mans best friend, sticks around symbolized by Barbus.
