wasn't that a part of Daggerfall? I didnt play it but in the wiki I read you could learn Centurian and if your skill was high enough, centaurs wouldn't aggro you unless you attacked them. It'd be nice to bring that back. Maybe give beast races a boost for feline/lizard-like creatures

They were probably originally of-shoot of ancestor spirits, and their names minot-aur and cent-aur has same origin as Auri-El. In the chaos of Dawn era there was this clan of spirits that was divided on what was the best way to hunt. There was lots of reasons to be good at hunting the twisting and changing times of creation. One group claimed strong body with animal instincts would be better and other claimed animal body with intelligence would be. Hiricine came by them and offered to help them, because he was interested in finding the perfect hunter. One group became the ancient minotaurs, who birthed the mortal minotaurs, other became centaurs, speed of a beast combined with mind of a humanoid. Because they were formed in the creation there are more attuned with the Nirn and it's workings. The ancestral centaurs knew how to use the old spirit magic and were worshipped while packs of their mortal children were the ones later races learned to fear. Centaurs dislike men and mer who they view young upstarts, with their black souls that gods and deadra are so interested in. Not only do they build cities and shape Tamriel to their liking, they are able to use magicka, to wrap the reality itself. For beings so attuned to the world itself it is almost a personal slight. Tensions heated to point of conflicts, that lead men and mer labeling centaurs as dangerous beasts and they drove them slowly to the wilds. I don't think Hiricine stuck with centaurs and minotaurs too long. He realized that they weren't the perfect hunter he was dreaming of. When he created werewolves, werebears and werecrocodiles centaurs had all the reasons to curse his name.
