The Khajiit's depiction of the Whitesnake is also awesome. Alkosh used his battle cry to cast the genocidal maniac out of Elsweyr leaving behind a time wound at Sunspire. Even though the Whitesnake scaled the mountain to chase the fleeing Khajiit, wise Alkosh knew his children were being innocently slaughtered and to use so much power in banishing him shows how truly terrifying the Whitesnake was.

He's a hero to Nords, but in reality he was a genocidal piece of shit that committed an Ethnic Cleansing of an entire Civilization, culture, history, and nearly ended an entire race, all because they attacked a single city (supposedly) unprovoked. If we ever had the same problem with any other race, a lot of innocent people would be dead. And I argue that Ysgramor was even worse than Pelinal, since he at least knew when to stop.

@@mgd8867 I mean, if we really want to be pedantic, Roman is an accurate if ambiguous way to denote Classical Latin, as opposed to Ecclesiastical Latin. Latin as a language survived and evolved for almost two millennia after the fall of the Western Empire, so the term 'Roman' is considerably more specific than the general term 'Latin'. Assuming we ignore the Byzantines anyway, but realistically no one has referred to them as Roman since 1453, so I think that's a safe assumption.

Unfortunately bethesda like to release the games in a linear timeline. If we were ever to go back to the ayleid empire,it would have to be in a spin-off game, or as a side quest/dlc in a future installment.

Definitely have always imagined Merethic Cyrodiil as being stylistically pre-Roman Ancient Medeteranian. Like Mycinaean (Bronze Age Greece), Etruscan, or Mesopotamian. A little of all three, actually; the Nibenease are very Etruscan in their love of color, festivity, and decoration, while the Colovians are more Mycinean in their practical, more austere aesthetic.

So now when I'm back in Skyrim/Tamriel i always tell NPCs yes when i get the " Have you ever lost a loved one" or " Are you married" dialogue you can get in game. Was kind of Sad when Inquisitor Pepe died by Laza's hand. Also fun fact: If you do you the Blessings of Nature quest for Danica Pure Spring in Whiterun, you can find Lamae's grave and activate it to listen to the ending song again.

Honestly, me too. I don’t know if there’s many developers out there who have the vision or the dedication to execute something like that. You’d need to send the concept artists to audit a series of lectures on late antiquity or away on a 6 week tour of the eastern Mediterranean. Some people’s minds just break when they reach a certain point with Byzantine Empire stuff. Emperors wearing big onion-shaped turbans was it for me. I still don’t have the strength nor the gumption to dive into Norman-Byzantine-Arab cultural stuff like Malta.

Play Vigilant. In Act IV, you go to Coldharbor, but because of some weird time flux stuff, it resembles the Imperial city during the Alessian Empire. Plus, you get to go around and experience the memories of people who were there. You get to play as Pelinal solo-ing the Imperial city and 1v1-ing Umaril, you play as Marukh getting his vision of Alessia, and while you don't get to _play_ as Morihaus, you can see his memories too, like finding Pelinal's body after he killed-ish Umaril and Alessia's final moments (there's also a character whose name is just "????" but if you know your lore, you can tell exactly who he is). It's pretty well done and adheres to the lore, but makes an interesting twist by saying that Molag Bal was behind most of the nasty stuff that went down.

An interesting conversation. On the topic of guilty until proven innocent and the difficulty and hardship of such things, and how this was the case in our own world until relatively recently and in some places still is, it can be illuminating to think about how in some cultures, such as ancient Rome, not only were suspects tortured for confessions or to test for guilt, but witnesses were also tortured to see if they were telling the truth and the whole truth. Further, as for what effect a religious based law is going to have on the system and whether they will have any interest in what the defendant even says in their behalf, it will largely depend upon whether that society has a mechanism for reconciliation, such as the Auto-de-Fe in the lands where the Inquisition was present, or whether there was not, such as in most protestant lands where witch trials more routinely resulted in execution.

I think it is because of the Kalpa Cycles that the Elder Scrolls societies haven’t progressed to more modern technologies. They act as a kind of reset button. With that said, it’ll be interesting to see how future Elder Scrolls games will look considering that you stop Alduin, the one who would’ve brought a new Kalpa.

Late on the draw However I was stoked to hear (I think Drew?) Talking about, from elven perspective, what right did Humans have to remove Auriel's elven aspects. I actually agree. Humans AND Elves have no right to tamper with divine forces. The soul is divine and that's partly why I dislike soul trapping, and that's why I keep talking about Varla stones. They were able to create weapons so powerful they pierced Pelinal White strakes armor. They can grant a form of "immortality." Ayleids had no reason to be so cruel besides inherent cruelty. Incredibly ahead of their time. I feel like Bethesda messed up not adding the option to enchant weapons with Varla stones like the Ayleids could By the way I constantly find myself debunking topics and claims on Facebook with y'all's videos. @@jouzelfeather-pelt7686 yes i can. The khajit view all their "gods" and there are MANY in elsewheyr, as cats. It makes sense. The divines show up as humans to humans and elves to elves and cats to khajit and since there are so many cat shapes they can personify the deity as any kind of cat they choose.

I have no problem with mounts. If you can turn a daedra into armor sword axe spear shield there is no reason you cannot force an atnorach into a horse wolf etc shape. Love your podcasts.
