Hey Camel, I was replaying Skyrim the other day and experienced a random encounter near Windhelm. I was running in the mountains trying to escape a dragon, when a random npc simply called “High Elf” clad from head to toe in magical Dwarven armour and weapons attacked me. I do like how the old Morrowind pronunciation of "SHI-guh-rath" was so similar to "JI-guh-lag". The vowels were sounded quite the same and the consonants sh > dj, r > l, th > g share some properties with real-world language drift. The core of the word stayed the same but was marred and changed, much like the prince himself.

Huge agree on wanting to see his more violent side. Imagine in ES6, there’s a quest to find an insane serial killer, only to find out at the end that he’s a disciple of Sheogorath, and you only get the Wabbajack (or whatever the artifact is) if you let him go.

Part of what makes Sheogorath so popular I think is the fact that our minds are simultaneously the most familiar and the most alien parts of us. As the one Prince that is truly unpredictable, just like our own minds, the madgod has a lot of potential because he’s capable of expressing the whole range of human emotions (and potentially provide some commentary on mental health if written correctly). That’s why I hope to see the darker side of him in the future

I’m not gonna lie, ESO but not O is something I’ve wanted for a long time. If it doesn’t compromise base content it sounds ideal to me, I genuinely don’t like ESO’s online aspect, it makes it run inconsistently on my mediocre internet, and it breaks the immersion hard; but the idea of a game with a constant flow of RPG content is very attractive to me.

A cool thing they could do with daedric armour and weapons is since they hold a daedric spirit within maybe when you craft them they change slightly depending on what daedra who trap in there. So for example using a daedra from the shivering isles would make a mask like the one from the concept art.

Honestly I think a quest like thst would depend, I think it would be better to have the quest be you like work for a cult of shegorath only to find out that they support jygalag and yiu get the choice to do the original quest or turn on the cult for shegorath, allowing like two different rewards the wabbajack for sheos side or like a counterpart to it for jygalag
@mesektet5776
@mesektet5776 3 жыл бұрын
@@danielshore1457 A choice quest would work. But not sure Sheogorath would approve. After-all Jyggalag and the current Sheogorath parted on good terms. Maybe Sheogorath’s quest is to help build a Jyggalag cult, for his predecessor, and all the other Princes’s try to bribe you out of it (Apple of Discord style) since they don’t want to deal with any of that again, and the choice could be either denouncing Jyggalag on behalf of the other Princes and dealing with a pissed off Sheogorath and Jyggalag or sanctifying it and dealing with champions from each other Prince - there to tear down the shrine and kill off the cult by force.

What I like about Sheogorath, is that perhaps more than Shor, or Shezzar, more than the many faced Dragon, he understands and reflects mortals best. His domain is the parts of our minds we fear to look into, lest it consumes us completely. His game is making us aware of those shadows, and watching us jump into them.

Gonna share this story. A few years ago, I had a bad case of the flu. I was delirious some times.During some of these deliriums, Sheogorath talked to me. He would show me memories of my past failures, worst possible outcomes for my future. In depth examinations of my character flaws. When I tried to tell him go away, he'd laugh gleefully and explain that he wasn't real. He say "I'm a figment of your imagination, brought on by either masochistic tendencies, and/ or a desire to be punished for your Sins". It was horrible.

Sheogorath just sits back and lets you dwell into your own mind. He is escapism at its best when used productively, and yet so destructive when it is not directed well. He does nothing. After all, you already him, you already have madness, and it is the fear that encourages it further and expresses itself. In the Myths of Sheogorath there is a story how a mortal man bet that he could survive in the Shivering Isles without going mad (i.e. insane), by the third day the guy went crazy over his own paranoia into thinking that Sheogorath was plotting to poison him with drink and food. It was his fear that caused him to go insane. Sheogorath did nothing. No poison, no tricks... it was simply the guys' own fears and paranoia that got him. Very few can go into Shivering Isles and come out ok... very few, and that is because those people don't accept their own flaws and just embrace the place for what it is. In order to survive Shivering Isles without effect you need to accept it as it is, take it in as your own, have fun with it, embrace your own flaws and shortcomings, and most importantly respect Lord Sheogorath as the ruler of Shivering Isles. Also amuse him and be as witty, charming and having a sense of humor.

Had a crazy idea. Making a blue metallic ore called Nannerite. The holder of ore has his speech in complete gibberish. When it’s refined the nannerite can’t make the thing the forger wants it to be. For example the forger wants an axe. The finished product may become a dagger instead. The only way you can properly forge it would be in the Shivering isles. The person wanting to use it needs a piece of ore in their possession to enter then it is used up after 3 tries at the forge. So the player has to find the forge his or herself as no one can understand the gibberish coming out of the mouth.

I'm not sure how authoritative "SkoomaCat" is, but I like the idea of a daedric prince "growing out" of things. Sure, they've got their spheres and their realms are a reflection of their intrinsic nature (if I understand correctly), but they're not in isolation. There's influence from other princes but there's also the influence of mortals. I take it as an extremely lengthened process of Mehrunes Dagon switching sides based on who is the underdog. They're not immutable, they can react to things going on around them. Now, it probably shouldn't be done "overnight" but a few thousand years sounds fair for just stopping torturing butterflies. Definitely didn't stop torturing in general, his "torturing" just became slightly more "deadly pranking".

Another possibility, and I'm not sure about the timing, but I wonder if Sheogorath "growing out" his butterfly phase was due to him being mantled.

I wish they did something similar to the Malkavian playthrough in the original VtM for a Sheogorath quest in Elder Scrolls 6. Another interesting thing would be if, should you encounter Sheogorath, there will be an initial unscripted, randomized interaction. So let's say you walk up to Sheogorath, and there's like a 1/100 chance he just instantly kills you for no reason. Every time you reload a save, what he does will be new, with let's say a 1/3 chance that he actually talks with you to begin the quest.

Honestly if they did something like that it should be something that makes the character go insane like you see all npcs as enemies and like the quest would be you need to get an item for him and it turns into a typical like bandit camp attack quest and then he takes the affect away you need to go back to the place to put the item back and it turns out there was no enemies and you just slaughtered innocent people

Sheogorath is one of those princes whose sphere is very wide if you think about what madness is. In our real world, there are people who are defined as insane, yet they put wit and outsmart some of the smartest people in history. A Harvard math student and the writers of the dictionary are examples of such. It does fit with Sheogorath seemingly always having the upper hand on the other princes and the greatest mages to exist. He can truly understand people and the gods. It would be interesting if there was a contrast to Hermaeus Mora, but this is admittedly head-canon, but he has displayed a lot of intellect in our few interactions with him. Madness can be cruelty, I’ll let that define itself if you have read any story about Sheogorath. Also, he is capable of using all forms of emotion and body language, he can lull people into doing things they would not do, or have people accidentally do something good against their own evil mind. He can do a lot of things with his personality, which is why I think he overlaps with the other daedric princes so much. He has a lot of story and hidden mystery about his workings, it would be interesting if we can explore him some more. He is my favorite for many reasons

Somebody has probly thought of this already but what if all the PCs in ES games are all the same person reincarnating and that person is Lorcan slowly rebuilding himself?
@brianroberts783
@brianroberts783 3 жыл бұрын
It's an interesting theory, but there's a couple problems. In Morrowind, the PC is Nerevar reincarnated, and becomes immortal due to the Corprus disease. Secondly, in Oblivion, the Hero of Kvatch becomes immortal by manteling Sheogorath, who then meets the Last Dragonborn in Skyrim. So, during the events of Skyrim, there are 3 protagonist characters in existence.
