@PANCAKEMINEZZ5 жыл бұрын
The "lycan" part of lycanthrope actually most likely comes from an old Greek tale of King Lycaon. Lycaon basically was given/found a pelt of a wolf that would turn himself into one as a curse. It's the first recorded story that fits into the werewolf tale and mythology.

The take on Beauty and the Beast in Last Wish is most interesting. The Pirates curse reminded me of that tale. While not the same since the beast is still in possession of his human reasoning and the Witcher was able to spend the night in the Beast home, unlike the pirate.

I just love how accurately the Withcher games portray the creatures from the slavic mythology. By the way for those who love lore, in the slavic mythos the werewolf stand way above the vampires. Back in the days when we were still pagans the beasts were venerated almost as demi-deities, our tribes often taking some animals as totem animal. My tribe had the wolf as one and that is why we still have names like Vulko, Vulkan or Vicho as names. Creatures created from bestial souls are more powerfull and highier in the hierarchy than those created by cursed human soul. Vampires or Upiri in the medieval slavic were the petty remains of the shades of men who led a life of vice and in their death they refused to simply fade away. In order to maintain and eventually raise their dead body they pray upon their loved ones, relatives and neighbours in their sleep trying to sap away their life force, often killling them in the process. A single vampire can kill entire villages in order to raise it's corpse, many times the poor victims also became vampires. If the vampire manages to raise its body then the vampire blends in the society and is extremely difficult to spot. He/She can even have children with unsuspicious humans, however the child will be born without a soul because the vampire doesn't have one and the divine spark will refuse to possses the offspring of an tainted creature. Vampirism is more of a disease than anything.

I'm unsure how to phrase this properly, but I've often wondered one thing. Imagine if some mysterious 'transdimensional' cosmic event took place that somehow suddenly, magically merged the worlds of the Eldersrolls, Dragon Age and the Witcher, where everything had crossed over into one world. Yet, the people, creatures, the different lore of and history of these worlds mainly remained intact. Generally, how might each faction/race or the notable characters of those worlds react to and interact with each other..?
