Godhead/Chim: • There is Only ONE God ...
Dunmer Will Rise Again: • The Dunmer WILL RISE A...
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. It is the fifth main installment in The Elder Scrolls series, following The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and was released worldwide for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 11, 2011.
The game's main story revolves around the player character and their quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon who is prophesied to destroy the world. The videogame is set two hundred years after the events of Oblivion, and takes place in the fictional province of Skyrim. Over the course of the game, the player completes quests and develops the character by improving skills. The game continues the open world tradition of its predecessors by allowing the player to travel anywhere in the game world at any time, and to ignore or postpone the main storyline indefinitely.

I think the duality of Vivec is most blatantly expressed by the floating meteor above Vivec city. According to lore, he had the power to place it anywhere else, yet he chose to freeze it in place as a reminder for the dunmer people to love him, because if they stop loving him, the meteor would crash into the city. This highlights the dual nature of Vivec more than anything. He's like a benevolent terrorist in this case.

Now if only those at BGS now could show the same love, care, and attention for TES VI, while also respecting the lore that has come before, we might have something wonderful on the way. Couple that with a new and superior (relatively bug-free) engine and no exclusive stores/launchers, it could be the best TES game yet.

@Takefive 123 the gameplay is pretty good at higher levels, it just feels like a piece of trash until your character is nearly maxed out on whatever stats you're building, and then you're almost unstoppable. I'd say it's mostly an issue of balance that makes it feel that way early in the game. I can remember nearly losing sword fights to rats on the regular, but now i can do a standing leap high enough to stab a cliff racer right in the face and one shot it.

@Burned-Legate

Sotha Sil has always fascinated me, it's a shame he has the smallest presence of the three. I believe myself that the Tribunal murdered Nerevar, but Sotha Sil seems to stand separate from his fellows, as can be seen with his seeming acceptance of Azura's curse, perhaps a sense of guilt. Whatever the reason, after receiving the powers of Lorkhan, most sources place him as something of a recluse in his Clockwork City emerging in times of need for defense, or to train pupils. Sotha Sil behaves as though he only indulged in the powers of Lorkhan out of curiosity, rather than a desire for power, fame, or worship and love as Vivec and Almalexia did.

The story of Tribunals shows very, very well, how mortals are unfit for divinity - gaining immortality and divine powers Almalexia, Vivec and Sotha Sil are still mentally mortals. They use their powers for egothistic reasons, to gain love (a bit forced as shows the case of Vivec and the floating meteor...), ultimate respect and worship. Almalexia may be the Mother of Mercy but it's more "Look at me and how merciful I am, praise my mercy, worship me and my mercy!" instead of perfect, selfless mercy of a true divine. It seems that Sotha Sil saw that and understood that and that was partially the reason he was so reserved, he was more of some deeply philosophical and analytical nature than those two. This is one of the greatest stories ever in the lore of the Elder Scrolls, as well as in fantasy lore generally.

You should play through Clockwork City and Summerset Isle in ESO. Sotha Sil appears in these dlc's, and explains everything he did and why he did it. Long story short, Sotha Sil has achieved something beyond CHIM. He knows he is in a video game, and that all his actions are written and scripted without him having any influence on it. He knows he cant break free by hacking the system like Vivec does, so he tries to use his power for the good of the people of Nirn, his fellow prisoners. He recognises the player character and knows that we're playing a game.

I always became giddy when Sotha sil was there. Although I cant confirm if he is truly a good person, knowing how Almalexia murders him, I couldn't enjoy her in the games, knowing she is so selfish as to steal her friend's power. But Sotha Sil knew a lot, so much so that Daedric Princes conspired to use The skeleton Key on him to unlock his mind. And he was able to keep his City safe from Daedric Incursion until sloads and shadow manipulative magic became involved

So all of the Tribunal are at their core the same as their anticipations, but choose to live diffrently with it? Almalexia is like Boethia, using lies, force and plots, but using it for the betterment of others. Sotha Sil is vain like Azura, seeing himself above regular people, but does not wish to be loved, seeking to be useful to them as a shepard should tend his flock. Vivec represents the duality and the more perverse nature of Mephala, but instead of wanting to pull the strings of everything, he wishes to be that everything as one Just a insomnia caused babble
@Xolcm

I have a much darker view of Vivec - he gave the most powerful man in Tamriel the most dangerous weapon in existence just so his people could continue enslaving others, and he has openly admitted in his sermons that he could slowly lower Baar Dau at any time so that it lands harmlessly in the ocean, but he keeps it there anyway, meaning that he’s blackmailing all of Morrowind into worshipping him under threat of death, and still chooses not to lower it even knowing that he’s going to lose his divinity. This makes Vivec personally responsible for everything involving the Red Year and the Numidium.

Watch Drew's take mentioned by the video. Vivec allowing Baar Dau to fall was intentional, and was ultimately a good thing for the Dunmer. Had it been moved elsewhere, Vivec City would still remain, and throngs of pilgrims would arrive to worship the streets and statues of a vacant god, which is one of the reasons why the Velothi Exodus happened in the first place. We grow through struggle, and thus become our better selves. The Dunmer know this for truth.

And there’s other reasons why Sotha Sil being offed by Almalexia just down right sucks but I still don’t know enough to actually say lol

Man..no game has ever immersed me as much as Morrowind did(though that may he because I was like 13-15 at the time). Does anyone remember who killed them first in Morrowind? For me it was Fargoth, as soon as I hopped off the boat and left the Census Office he was the first person I saw and had one of those faces that just makes me want to hit. He killed me countless times and caused me to make multiple characters until one day I had enough, I settled with my Dark Elf and retreated into the swamps. There I trained amongst the Mudcrabs for days learning how to properly cast a Fireball, how to successfully land a hit with my Blade, how to properly wear armor. Once finally ready and skills sharp I left the Swamp and the Mudcrabs behind and returned to Seyda Neen to face my adversary and I was finally able to land a hit on him, then another, and another until he finally fell before me and I helped myself to his home and moved in. My character lived there until I finally ventured to Red Mountain and claimed one of the massive structures infested with Dagoth's disgusting creatures, after slaughtering everything inside one of them I made it my home, a home in one of the most inhospitable and dangerous areas in all Vvardenfell which is a far cry from where my character started.

Almalexia, Sotha Sil and Vivec are not "gods" they're merely gifted with longevity and the ability to manipulate reality to a small degree. They gained this power by betraying and backstabbing and murdering their friend Nerevar. The tribunal deserve to have their powers stripped away so the people of Tamriel can be liberated from the slavery they relish in. One of the best things by far in elderscrolls Lore, particularly Morrowind, that take it from incredible to masterwork is the fact that the history has always been written by the victor. All of the books in the game are written by characters in the lore, so the history is only as reputable as the source. You see this time and time again such as the 36 lessons and year 1008 being an arbitrary year, etc. It's such a crazy mind trip when you try to piece together the lore and cross reference all the historians and sources of information in the game. Morrowind is truly an absolute masterclass in world building.
