Its actually low impedance injectors that were faster to open, at least the older ones in the 80's. Low impedance injectors were used for high flow injectors as they were very fast and precise at injecting fuel (with additional driver, hardware and complexity) this meant you could tune them to idle very well. High impedance injectors were more simple but had a higher delay as the internals were heavy and had a lot of inertia with less power to drive it. Modern injectors use much lighter components, so modern (EV14) high impedance injectors are just as fast now. You can still purchase low impedance injectors for extreme applications, but for oem purposes high impedance is fine and they are also cheap and easy to manufacture being the biggest factor for OEM. Piezo injectors are the new low ohm, as they can open several times in the same time as a high impedance injector. Wow, I wrote a lot.

Aaron, thank you for sharing these videos and knowledge with us... very helpful. These last two videos have been extremely helpful to me, i'm doing a MS3 on my z car as well. Shoulda bought more than 2 t-shirts... lol

Thanks for purchasing shirts Joe M 👍 Is your MS3 pre assembled or in kit form?

Check out the pezo crystal injectors. Not sure if they are high or low.

Pezo crystal injectors seem very quick and reliable. They look like they are typically used on direct injection diesel motors?

@@kyushaspeed if I'm not mistaken they are also being used in gas direct injection. High pressure systems.

Sum stuff u said isn't very accurate..so firstly it's mainly about cost ..high ohms means a cheaper ECU AND less interfaces to power that injector and a more energy efficient system for low rpm low load driving ..also higher profits in vehicle sales.. ..also modern engines are delivering more power at less rpm and less power at high rpm .... Low resistance injectors deliver 80% more fuel at high rpm and boost applications ..but are less efficient in operation and economy .. Look into one of Mazda's many firsts of susses..the electronic switch over system in the gtr 323... So Mazda came up with a way to electronically switch the injectors via a extra resistance box ..3.0 ohm injectors get switched to be 10 ohm injectors below 3000rpm and under 4psi of boost ..this gives faster throttle response..quick spool times and allows for one fuel rail and 4 injectors not 8 with 2 rails .. Being a mechanic from personal experience il tell u the difference..a boosted non turbo I did with a link ECU it was maxing out 100% fuel at 4psi of boost and detonating with 330cc 10ohm injectors ..I swapped out to 440cc 3.0 ohm injectors and was sitting at 20% injector duty cycle at 10psi of boost no other changes were made
