ok so my truck sort of bucks and bounces at speeds 55-70 it does it worst at speed 55mph. it has fuel pressure at a contant 70-80 so thats what confuses me. Anythoughs on what this is? it doesnt feel like a tire balance issue. maybe drive shaft balance??
@BugmanVlogs4 жыл бұрын
I have one of the trucks with a driveline vibration. Starts in about 50 and gets worse up to 70 then goes smooth as a Cadillac at 75 and faster. I’m thinking the driveshaft and/or carrier bearing. The bucking I had from the fuel pump was sporadic but I had at low speeds

Fuel pump yes, driveline no. Ever since Covid hit I’ve worked to many hours a week to have time for working on the truck. Unfortunately until things slow down or we get another employee I have to put off things that unless completely broken I’m just going to deal with. Hopefully the cure will be just replacing entire driveshaft as mine is pretty rusted and just easier if all new instead of hassle of ujoints and carrier bearing replacement

Thank you, this pump is for the 6.0 on the frame rail. It’s the only fuel pump it has and isn’t considered high pressure (65+psi). The high pressure is the 2nd pump in the oil system that runs the injectors. The cp4 pumps for high pressure fuel is on the 6.4 and up diesels.

Hi, Having a heck of a time getting the 2 plastic fuel connectors on the fuel filter side off with the tool . How long does it take once you open up the drain for the fuel to stop coming out? Should the gas tank be empty when replacing the fuel pump?
@BugmanVlogs2 жыл бұрын
While my normal experience is a cup to half gallon I’ve heard of horrible situations of it never stopped coming out. Prepare for the worst is what I always do. Have everything disconnected (wires) then do 2 engine side fuel lines and then have new pump right there for when you disconnect tank side lines (nuts should be off pump bolts through frame as well) and get tank side reconnected as fast as you can. When mechanics do this in a shop they get empty to full tanks and it’s not always practical to pump tank. Time is money, lol.

Now I’m throwing codes for contribution /balance and Mis fire but after watching your video I think it’s my pumps what’s your thoughts
@BugmanVlogs3 жыл бұрын
There is only one pump on the inside frame rail. The part in the tank is just a sock filter. There is a possibility that it’s the pump if your getting multiple (3or more) contribution codes. 2 or less I would error towards injectors but fuel pump is a hella lot cheaper to replace than injectors.

Does sound like a bad pump. Good that you changed spring. I’ve actually had a blue spring kit go bad. Little plastic piece in there broke off and was blocking a hole. Only thing it showed as bad was fuel pressure bouncing really fast.

Might try to change filter and install new o-ring on cap (which usually comes with filter). Make sure to coat o-ring in fuel or oil before installing. If it still leaks then probably housing is scratched and you’ll have to replace the whole pump.

The stock plug you use an Allen. I’ve had 2 aftermarket plugs that where different. One had extended head in a 14mm. Super nice to get an open end wrench on. The other had Allen in center and extended head that was knurled on outside for using fingers but I always used pliers as finger tight is to loose IMO.

How much fuel am I going to get out of the lines when I disconnect them? Is it going to empty the tank.
@BugmanVlogs4 жыл бұрын
I think about a cup per line drizzled out. I used the fingers of neoprene gloves to put over them and a bread tie to tighten. Keeps the fuel from dripping on you while you work. The most fuel will come from front lines and can empty the 2nd fuel filter/bowl if you don’t cover line end. The tank will not empty out. Lines come out of top and down so gravity is not an issue, lol. Hope this helps.

@BugmanVlogs3 жыл бұрын
You can plug in a tuner and it will tell you or take it to a dealer. As far as the dying part, there is a fuel issue. List to start on would be fuel filters, bad fuel pump letting air in, possibly HPOP not keeping pressure up to injectors, plugged injector screens, hell even ICP or EBP sensor could be bad and possibly cause this. Scan gauge 2 or edge monitor is great start to know your parameters and go from there.

Yes you can install it and just zip tie the extra connector out of the way. The omitted connector is for the fuel heater that is no longer in the newer pumps.
