My mom was driving me home from work one day and she had been really upset about a recent passing in the family, especially since she was so close to them. Since this song reminds me of my mom, I grabbed her phone that was already playing music and changed it to this song. Despite my horrible voice I still sang to her, and she looked at me and broke down halfway through the song. By the end of the song we were both crying. It's a sad yet fond memory I have of me and my mom and it's a memory I'll cherish forever.

My interpretation is simple. His mother asked him to build a house of gold when his father dies and take care of her. While part of him wants to make his mother happy, this would kill his dreams of pursuing music. People in the comments are asking for meaning in the video, so I did a little research. Though really you can interpret it however you desire. The song is obviously about a mother, whom the boys care for. Josh and Tyler have stated that they love their mothers dearly, and they are who they dedicated the song to. The top half of Josh and Tyler are near the house where the mother is located. The top section of the torso contains the heart, so their heart will always reside near their mothers. The legs are seen roaming freely, and playing instruments, signifying the boy's desire to move around and pursue music careers. The part of Tyler falling at the end is fuzzy, and I guess you could perceive it as his heart being broken if he lost his mother, or how devastated his mother would be if he were taken abruptly, but I have no clue. Hope this helps anyone. I found it through Google so I don't know how reliable it is.

I have a theory about this video. It's not great and idk if anyone else has already said something similar but whatever. So, the lyrics clearly state that Tyler cares about and loves his mother, so much that he'd give her anything, and do anything for her. We all know Tyler has gone through some hard times and in some of those hard times has written deep shit songs in which he has clearly contemplated suicide in the past. Suicide: the possibility of his mother outliving him. I think this video plays in a scenario in which, unfortunately, our Tyler does commit suicide. To me, this video is about him coming back from the dead and trying to fulfill his promise to his mother, coming back to take care of her, and watch over her and singing to her the promises he made to her when he was still alive.
