📖 ABOUT ME
This channel combines my two passions, cycling and photography/videography. I have been riding for 5+ years, but inspired by my son who completes nationally in triathlon I have decided to do some cycle racing.
As well as racing cyclocross I plan to race MTB and some local crits. In 2016 I was diagnosed with Coeliac’s Disease, I am also lactose intolerant. This does present some issues when trying to fuel my longer rides as not all stops have gluten free options.

I also did CTS this year, it was a great event and my first double century. I’m also on the FB page where everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Personally I fuelled with SIS beta gels, chews and carb powder / electrolyte powder in my water bottles, I made energy dense flap jacks and took a couple of bananas. A snickers some jelly babies and haribo. I had lasagna at the lunch stop and 1 can of coke before cheddar gorge. I stopped around every 50 miles to replenish my two 750mil bottles of water which is all I carried. I set an alarm on my wahoo for 20 minutes to eat or drink something which I did, I completed the ride in 12 hrs 30 minutes without feeling hungry or dehydrated. At the pier I only ate half my sausage and chips as I wasn’t hungry. I had 1 proper toilet break as getting up at 2.30am to have breakfast prior to the event I was out of sink for my morning routine. And I was fine. You can do endurance events on gels and carbs, I mixed some regular food in as well but really I had no problems. I weighed my self when got home and I’d put on weight lol for me it was 6007 calories burnt according to my wahoo bolt. Good video if you’ve managed to read this far I hope you’ve found it useful. With the right mindset, good nutrition and training you would be amazed what your capable of.

No, I'm not planning on did it this year. It's a big training commitment and I'm planning on giving Grave la try this year. Are you planning on doing it?

@ got inspired by your video and signed up. Need to get A LOT fitter in the next 6 months. I’ll probably curse you for 200 miles on the day 😂

@@zebeddy Well done, glad I inspired you. I will be putting together some more video's over Christmas that will help prep for the day. It s great event and I will miss not doing it this year. Just ride you bike and start the training early in the new year. Build up the weekly mileage and you will be fine. Most of it is in the head. I trained way more than I needed to complete this and would think nothing of doing it again.
