This film has a very high repeat viewing value. On every viewing you discover something new. The score perfectly fits this montage. The best part is that the US Marshals working as a team to capture Kimble all have well developed personalities rather than being just stock characters. Refreshing take. Pulse pounding film.

This is a 90s classic. I love the hunter and hunted narrative, the Kodak cinematography and synthwave soundtrack. It feels like a Michael Mann film

It’s ironic because this film was made 2 years before Heat with Al Pacino and Robert De Niro that Michael Mann directed also from Warner bros. Also Michael Mann and Andrew Davis are great friends and Michael casted Andrew Davis’s dad in thief 1981 as Nate, James caan’s friend in Chicago who helped him with equipment to break into the safe in Los Angeles.

This whole movie is great, but I think if you watch Tommy Lee's expressions during the montage scenes, you can tell Gerard slowly starting to think that Kimble really is innocent.

Just two of the many reasons why this movie is brilliant: 1) they did a really good job disguising *SPOILERS* Dr. Nichols was the bad guy. This scene--being honest with Gerard, praising Kimble--really makes you not be suspicious of him. 2) this is one of the few stories, period, where two characters are going against each other, yet both are good, likable, and most importantly, SMART. That's _very_ hard to pull off in any story, whether film or novel.

You make a lot of good points, although I think the movie did too good of a job making Gerard likable. I understand he's not a villain, but he still has to be scary enough that when he's chasing Richard, we too feel fear. The thrill of chase scenes is dulled if both hunter and hunted are conceived as "good."

Plus giving Richard a handout, and when Richard suspect Dr Lentz, he confirms to him Lentz is dead.

@@mphlohi He knows those are his best moves to keep the scent off of himslelf, although his fatal mistake was denying knowing Dr. Lentz to Gerard and Cosmo's faces (which also illustrates how much he doesn't care about Lentz and framed him, whereas he cares about Richard despite needing him out of the way).

I love how this scene shows that Kimble doesn't match the usual kind of suspects that Gerard goes after and yet Gerard wants Kimble to fit the profile rather than to understand Kimble's motivation behind his escape. As a result, Gerard is chasing Kimble not just to arrest him, but also to silence his nagging suspicion that Kimble may be right.

Sam HAD to get Richard 1. so the real killer(s) don't get him 2. so the bloodthirsty Chicago Police Department don't shoot him oh and 3...personal satisfaction...he knew the man was beyond innocent...but getting him ensuring his safety and Kimble spilling his guts about Devlin-McGregor Provasic and the other goofy bastards meant Gerard and the U.S. Marshals could "GO GET EM"

The music in this sounds similar to James newton Howard’s work in the package that Andrew Davis directed and Tommy Lee Jones costarred in and it was also filmed and set in Chicago and also had some of the same cast from the package.

Just before this scene, Dr Nichols admitted to the Marshals that he gave Kimble some money. Doesn't that make him guilty of aiding and abetting a known criminal? How was he not arrested on the spot?

Just a theory--they probably wanted to keep him free to keep tabs on him in case Richard came to him again for help.

@@Mrpastry909 Pretty much.. they could bust him when they pick Richard up if he was legitly guilty he wasn't; so they got him him for something better. You can tell Gerrard didn't trust him a bit to begin with.. he would always have a look on his face whenever they met up and he needed one big lie to want to bring him in. Genius acting on Jones's part he really sold it.
