I have the 100s and can confirm to you that the autofocus is significantly quicker and I actually use eye tracking almost 100% of the time. That said I'm genuinely considering selling because I just don't feel like I'm getting that medium format look, I feel like there's no real difference in identical shots taken between that and a full frame camera at the same focal length.

So yea the 100s is definitely faster. It’s not R5 fast but it’s a major step up from any of the 50 series Fuji’s. Resolution is INSANE.and the ibis is great ! It’s just a notch below the z7 but it’s usable for model shoots. It reminds me of the Sony A7rii terms of autofocus speed. @@SNAPAVELI yea I tried it....its Ok but I've never been a fan of eye autofocus in general.... have a hard time trusting it in general so I use single point wide open to get the eye or face detect stopped down.... probably need to go into the settings and learn it more throughly. It definitely hunts a LOT LESS !!!!! I will say there is still something special about that 50 megapixel sensor... its slow as you know but those files are special in a way the 100s is not. I still prefer the 100S overall but I have some fine art, urban landscapes, family snaps, and casual walk around shots that are some of my favorites over the last 2 years. idk if its just me but the colors, the general rendering and files that are so clean and so good I won't ever part with that doggishly slow ugly ass block of a camera lol. It's my kick around hoopty camera now but man there is still something special about those files. I do a lot of live music shoots concerts etc... use primarily the Z7 and Z6 for that work. I'm gonna use the 100s for my next event which will be a true test for me. I would not even have attempted that with the 50R. The ability to crop.... I mean seriously crop is mind blowing...you will laugh when you experience it... that, the resolution , and dynamic range makes going back to my nikons feel disappointing... I do love Nikon but man when it comes to image quality nothing I've shot with (canon, Sony, and Nikon) can compare to the GFX files but you already know that. Im spoiled and trust me, you will be as well. The 100s is amazing..The back screen resolution sucks and is my only real complaint.

@@SNAPAVELI yea it’s weird. They are not bad just different. The 100s is more neutral life like. Best comparison is probably Nikon…at least to me. Some sensors just seem to have some magic. That why I won’t get rid of the 50r. Trade offs lol. I’m really interested to get your take on the differences or if you see any. Maybe it’s all in my head. Again I like the files from the 100s they are mind blowing just different. I really think it comes down to pixel size. Big ass pixels just take in more information. The 100s sensor has the same pixel pitch as the Sony A7r4. I think that’s the difference. Don’t let my opinion sway you …but yea I won’t give up that 50R. That sensor has its own look,at least to me. So for fine arts type stuff, urban landscape, and architecture it’s great. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the 100s. I do love the camera and I’m sure you will too

@@SNAPAVELI I still think it has to do with the law of physics even though the 100s has a more advanced sensor. Pixels are much larger in the 50. Also, I've seen and read that the 50 megapixel sensor is more three-dimensional the 100s

I've tested both of them back to back. The 100s has considerably better AF in my opinion. I also wasn't that bothered about the resolution - who needs 100mb right? I've found that actually I do! It's great to be able to crop in and still have a usable file. Both produce files that are extremely flexible and produce great colour. The 100s files aren't as saturated as the 50sii but in my eyes preferable. The 100s also seems to handle colour slightly differently. Both are great cameras though. Be interested to see what HB brings out this year ...

Hey, man, just found your channel and loving it! Z6 user that pulverized his EVF here, and looking to replace it with a couple camera's, either another Z6 or Z7, and a GFX. Been playing with GFX files for about a week and absolutely in love. I do allot of Landscape/starscape here in Japan along with Hip hop culture, models, street.. basically everything. My question is though about DR of the GFX 50R/S vs SII, and hoping you have some insight. I saw on photons to photons, that where the GFX 100, 100S and 50SII have a linear fall off to much less DR down to about 5.5 stops at ISO 10,000 the 50R and 50S actually level off at about ISO 1300 all the way to 12,800 at 8.5 stops of dynamic range where it then drops off steeply meeting the others at ISO 25,600 at the 5.5 stops range. Sorry for such a technical question, but since I do allot of astro over the ocean in Japan, dynamic range is king to me. If you have noticed, or can possible test these higher ISO ranges on the GFX 50R vs the 50SII, it would be extremely helpful, as this info seems to be untested other than by said site. I am on the fence at this point the GFX 100s would be great, but of the 50R or 50S is really that much better in this regard it would be a good way to save cash and get the best possible starscapes.

@@SNAPAVELI Because I am on Darktable I can't currently play with the 100s files as the support is not fully there, but I played with a handful of GFX 100 files. They were not as malleable in my opinion, or put more simply the GFX50S/R files are virtually unbreakable in terms of shadow and highlight manipulation, and especially saturation which seems to have virtually no limit on those camera's. Because I can't seem to find any 50SII files above ISO 6000, and actually only a single ISO 6000 file, so it's hard to say for certain, but even around ISO 3000 they did seem slightly less Malleable but still superior to the 100 files. In darktable with the 50s or 50r files if I simply apply profiled noise reduction with absolutely no adjustments it cleans the noise almost completely. The 100 retains noise for certain, but it's fine and film like which I don't mind. The 50SII cleaned up pretty good, but definitely not as well as the other two 50 models. This could be darktable not having a profile for it yet or something beyond my understanding. The saturation does seem pretty much equally malleable on the 50SII from my limited testing, but couldn't draw a conclusion about DR in the said range, hence my reaching out. Thanks for the response. I may just go for the 100SII as darktable support is apparently there with a bit of tweaking now, and I can always trade down if the DR is really effecting my work. The ability to crop in 400% and have a 25mp file particularly for landscape is just too tempting.

Got the 100s. With the 80 and 45 mil…used to be a portraitist, sculptor, painter…this system is mostly an extension of my artistic ways…more of an artists tool than a 30fps workhorse…the 100s IS amazing….not a race car….not a pinto…more like an offroad baja race pickup truck that carries more than a race car when you need to build big…the images are out of this world……especially if you print more than 16x 20 …..considerably noticeable beyond that…this system is fast enough for me… the idea of passing through 75% more photos with a 30fps that are the result of algorithm precision is not art to me… would much rather catch that perfect one on my own as a result of talent than luck….plus hasselblad at 5 times the cost with 150 pix is great for …don,t know anymore…lolll….try the 100s Marcus….try it….

Man I'm like SOO interested in Fuji GFX but every single review people talk about how bad the AF is. But I know the files are better because I have played with some of the downloads you have supplied. If Fuji came out with a 50 mpx phase detect sensor I think they would knock it out of the park. Curious to see how the 100 is. I've read the 50 sensor is a little bit better color and dynamic range wise but the 100 autofocus is as good as the XT4 because it has phase detect pixels in the sensor. I have an R6 and an R5C so I'm pretty aware of what Canon is capable of and I feel like sometimes it's a struggle. Not as much as when I was trying Sony though.
