Wai you made my day. I truly appreciate you taking the time to put up this video. I was struggling a bit with the new XT3 system, and this inspires me to keep shooting. You are one of the only channels were I feel comfortable enough to post comments. Keep up the fantastic work.

My tip would be to get an Anker power bank. It can charge the X-T3's battery through the USB port, or power the camera while it's sitting on a tripod. If you do a lot of stationary video, this is a much cheaper solution than the 300$ Fuji battery grip and two additional 65$ Fuji batteries.
@JCvanSlooten5 жыл бұрын
yeah, and then you carry all the time a power all around. Not very handy right.
@JohannesLabusch5 жыл бұрын
And that's exactly why I said stationary video. @@JCvanSlooten

Great tips. I use e-front + mechanic + electronic shutter since the shutter speed can go way faster then the mechanical one when it's too bright

I can see why a video shooter might want to turn off the push-to-focus function and use the AF-L button as a toggle but I would encourage stills shooters to leave it as push-to-focus and, instead, turn off the focus functionality of the shutter button. Most people, once they get used to this, find back button focus (BBF) as the preferred way to control AF when shooting stills. I really wish Fuji didn't link AE-L and AF-L in that menu setting though because I would find a toggle for the AE-L button to be much more useful. BTW, nice computer. That looks like a fun build. I like the case.

Really great video. I just got my X-T3 last week and A LOT of things are new to me, especially the video side of it. I come from a Nikon background with very little knowledge of video and i MUST say, well done when you explain about H.264 vs H.265 and also about the All Intra vs Long GOP. Thank you for the video.

Excellent. I got some really useful stuff I didn't know from this no-nonsense video. I have a question. I have a lot of trouble pressing hard enough to turn the rear command dial without accidentally pressing it in. Any suggestions for that? Thanks for the great video.
@WaiYingLam4 жыл бұрын
unfortunately i do not have a solution. I actually have the same problem, so i find the rear command dial to be very annoying to use.

I'm a Nikon shooter and just bought an xt3. I'm having all kinds of issue. In particular when choosing image quality I only see fine and normal. Somehow I lost my choice of raw. Obviously I activated something by mistake. I'd appreciate help please?

Hi! great tips, a question ... When you have EVF and Screen turned OFF ... Still HDMI out sending signal ? ... Because my logic is that it should be a mode where both (EVF and screen) can be turned off most of the times if we are using external monitor, to watch the signal and info on display to save battery, because we can use the external monitor to see and change the settings with the physical buttons. Thanks
@WaiYingLam5 жыл бұрын
you can have the main screen turn off and the evf if you are in one of the display modes.

Just an FYI - The way you explained Long GOP made it sound like it just has to do with color. That's incorrect. Long GOP (group of pictures) compresses across frames. In other words, one frame references other frames as it is compressed--luma and color. "Key frame" is a term associated with Long GOP and typically represents the beginning of a group. (It's a more complicated than this but I don't want to write a thesis here.) All-I is preferred for editing because each frame is individually compressed and does not reference other frames so the computer doesn't have to build a particular frame whenever you stop or cut. All-I is typically higher quality and is easier to edit but, as you point out, it also takes up more space.
@WaiYingLam5 жыл бұрын
Ya, i probably should have spent more time talking about it. It's a balance of how much do people really care vs making the video too long. KZbin watch times are so low, you really have to be fast and to the point.

Hey, Great video. Do you know why I'm not able to adjust the dynamic range in video? It's grayed out.

if you are using or output via hdmi F-log or HLG, dynamic range will be grayed out.

Wai Lam I didn’t know that. Thank you. Also for your smallhd focus. Did you use a different cord? Mine won’t detect the monitor. But it works with other cameras. Also my camera works with full hdmi monitors.

Gwen Johns go into the function button menu and turn on the screen options. You will have to swipe down on the screen to bring up the level.

Should I buy black or silver? Who here thinks one looks better than the other?
@WaiYingLam5 жыл бұрын
If you are a pro using it for commercial work, I would go with black. Otherwise, whatever you like, it just personal preference.

@@WaiYingLam Thanks, I was thinking the same thing, but the more I look at the silver I like it. I have the black X-T2, but will likely sell it. We shall see, thanks again.
@D800Lover5 жыл бұрын
@@WaiYingLam - I went for silver and added the plain metal grip. I have had the black X-T2 and I now love the silver look better. And with the grip it feels great in the hand and reminds me of a classic 35mm film camera - about the same size and it is so solid in the hand. Maybe the best looking camera I have ever had. Got a D850 for full frame use and a selection of lenses for both. Happy with that.
