Great review of the video features of this camera. I didn't expect Fuji pushing a lot a video in the GFX range cameras. Fuji is pushing and investing heavy in this medium format. It is simply here to stay despite others are saying in is not catching into the market. If I had the money I will buy it.

If Fujifilm would do something like what Panasonic does with its box style cameras with this GFX100II (or even better : something like a Kinefinity) it would be awesome. (I would LOVE to have this sensor in a cinema style camera)

A real movie camera, and not a photo camera. With ND options, pre-roll, SDI, timecode, XLR, real viewfinder, V-mount (or whatever professionnal battery system), real M2 slot, CineDNG "real" raw + Braw & ProresRaw, more option tracking (like lock). An idea is doing a kind of Aja CION body ! That would just be enormous.

It's truly amazing. I heard some people complaining about things like they are forgetting this is a medium format sensor. Quite literally astounding results. I have a feeling that noise will be less reduced in 4KF log dynamic range priority.

100% out of my league, but I love the quality that I'm seing. Perhaps with this improved sensor, the readout is more consistent than in previous generations, resulting in true clarity. I don't mind it. Makes it very distinct. But I totally understand what you mean. The new Blackmagic full frame definitely seems to have a more familiar "Cinematic look" in the early tests that I have seen.

This camera has impressed me way more than I thought it would, and have to agree with Johnnie - This sensor in a cinema camera body similar to something like, the FX6 or Mavo LF mkII with IBIS and a great handgrip would have me reaching for my wallet pretty much immediately. Better yet, a 50mp version with great quality full sensor downscaling in all resolutions (and less of a crop in 8K) would be incredible. C'mon Fuji! You can beat everyone to the punch 😁

Open gate / full medium sensor is needed for video. Big miss there. For photography, this camera is great. But I’ve seen a lot of folks confused by this camera thinking they’ll get an full medium look, utilizing the entire sensor for video, when that’s simply not true. Hopefully a future firmware update can rectify that, if the hardware / processor can support it.

They missed the opportunity to make it the first "IMAX digital camera". Would love OpenGate movie mode on a future update, even H265 10bit 420. Give us a dedicated medium format video camera please Fuji !

Bro an IMAX sensor would be much larger than this lol. The Alexa 65 with a 52x23 image area is smaller than IMAX, yet still 3.5 times larger than Full Frame, thus larger than the GFX sensors too. The image area of IMAX cameras is 70x52. Hope that helps clarify how large a digital IMAX camera & its sensor would be 😅

@@brettgoulder5208 It’s IMAX by distribution (not production), because of the IMAX aspect ratio Oren Sofer opted to shoot the movie for - not because of the camera. We’re talking about actual IMAX cameras. Not IMAX as a company allowing a movie that is technically not IMAX to be displayed at their theaters

I am a GFX user, but I am using the 50R now (with 32-64, 250/4 and the 1.4 TC). I will consider adding this 100 II later with the 30 mm tilt-shift.

It checks all the boxes but how’s the rolling shutter? The previous 100s had terrible rolling shutter for video. If they solved this, then it’s definitely ready for professional video consideration.

Why did Fuji release this camera now?? The big photo shows are still a few moths away. Did they want to jump the competition? ...did they hear of a new medium format camera from Canon? Very strange that this would be released in September....guesses?

despite what the spec sheet from fuji says.... one youtube video mentioned that the 100II can shoot 20fps in 35mm crop mode (electronic shutter). Is there any way you could tell us if this is true?? Spec sheet says 8.7fps in that mode. Did you/can you test this??

I would be great to have the video compatibility with a 50 m cheaper to have it as a backup camera and video camera. Actually I carry the GFX 100 + 3 lenses + a Sony A7r v as back. Up + Sony a7 s III for vidéo + Sony lenses. To much to carry 😮

My thoughts are that when I upgraded my original 50S to the original 100, YES, that was an upgrade. 100MP vs 50, PD AF vs contrast, 4K video vs 1080p, IBIS vs none.. really, THATS AN UPGRADED CAMERA. Now from the 100 to the 100II? This is no upgrade.. it's called a REVISION no matter how it's sold as or marketed. Just the facts.

This cine mode is a joke; I can't wrap my head around its purpose. It's supposed to be for shooting movies, but the screen isn't a flip screen; it's a foldable screen, and you can even install a fan. Foldable screen with a fan? It's a disaster. It feels like a rushed decision. Also, I find the logic behind the "anamorphic mode" confusing. Why force specific sizes and limit it to 24fps? It's a tangled mess of logic. I'd like to know if the 4k60fps in GF mode is the same as in other aspect ratios. Is there any oversampling or pixel binning, or is it point-to-point? Lastly, I believe Fuji's best for a cine line would be the XH2s. Its CMOS can handle more, rather than cobbling together a Cine mode from a medium format camera that doesn't quite fit.

It depends on the mode you use. Only certain modes have bad rolling shutter. Most of the time it's better than most full frames and even better than some APSC sensors
